Purdue about to make history (not the good kind)
Half a minute left, losing to St. Pete’s by 4.
I feel bad for Purdue. So many Big Ten titles yet no Final Fours in how many years? Painter is a great coach too.
1980 I think
Sure didn't manage the end of that one well.
EDIT: Funniest comment I've seen so far online:
"You have to think that the quadrant three loss is gonna hurt Purdue's NET ranking."
After what you just stated you think Painter is great?
Man. Jalen Wilson. Ugh
They have been so tight this whole game. Ivey has dissappeared. He airballed his last shot 2 mins ago and hasn't shot since.
Sounds familiar...
How about "St. Peter's is about to make history"?
Wow didn't foul the guy immediate with 8 seconds left and down 1. They let 4 seconds tick away.
And now the B1G can officially be listed as a failure. To start the tourney, 13% of the teams were from the B1G. After the first weekend, 12.5% were from the B1G. Now, 0%.
Other than Michigan, gotta plead the Jay Cutler attitude on this one.

Based on seedings, the Big Ten basically did as well as expected.
Round of 32: Expected: 6 Actual: 6
Sweet Sixteen: Expected: 3 Actual: 2
Elite Eight: Expected: 0 Actual: 0
Final Four: Expected: 0 Actual: 0
Finals: Expected: 0 Actual: 0
Champion: Expected: 0 Actual: 0
Given that the Big Ten didn't have any 1 seeds or 2 seeds, the Big Ten wasn't expected to send a team to the Elite Eight. The Big Ten put precisely the number of teams into the round of 32 as expected, and came up just one short in the number of Sweet Sixteen teams as expected.
What they're doing is incredible. Good work.
Wow! Fun game to have watched.
Simply amazing.
St. Peters is the new Sister Jean, but younger and more athletic.
Yeah but she’s crafty. I bet she’d beat them one-on-one.
Man Edey looks pissed...imagine being a 7'4" starter and one of the main reasons your team got this far, only to have the coach sit you most of the 2nd half...Painter is a chode, and it's hillarious.
Williams played the end of every game for them. That rotation was super well defined. Also Edey had 11 points and 5 turnovers in this game. Was a main reason they lost.
Ah ok, I didnt follow alot of Purdue ball, but imo not playing Edey at all for the last half of the 2nd half was a mistake, oh well...Painter is still a chode.
Williams is the better player.
Agreed. In addition, I believe Edey shoots 50% from FT line, another reason he tends not to play down the stretch.
Out of random curiosity I've been trying to find out the height of Edey's parents. Couldn't find it via Google. Anyone know?
Edey has not looked good to me towards the end of the season. He's slow and clogs Purdues offense. Him and Cofi both overrated and don't offer much besides being big and slow.
Saint Peter's game plan was basically to set screens and run some weird half court three man weave until they caught Edey in a switch, and then abused him. If anything, Edey should've played fewer mins.

Reminds me of Frankie Collins minus the height.

Edey sucked today. Missed easy ones. Had a ton of turnovers. Looked lost on defense.
alternatively, edey is a massive millstone, a sort of more-lumbering, less athletic, poor-shooting version of hunter dickinson’s less-athletic grandfather.
i’m sure he IS pissed that his lack of athleticism and terrible free throw shooting keeps him out in crunch time. bummer.
Quite the NCAA tournament for the Big Ten. Also, shows what hitting free throws can do for you. They didn’t miss at all during the last few minutes.
No joke.
It's not like the B1G loses all it's non-conference stuff. It doesn't. But this is two years of abject tournament disaster.

You know I was going to argue with you and in fact had written quite a paragraph. But then I realized man he's right. That Big Ten tournament has got to be rescheduled. It needs to finish on a Saturday.
If Mich can make one or two a bunnies out of 26, we'd still be reppin' the B1G, oh well.
Purdue was 13/15 from the FT line. The difference was the 9 steals for StP and the 15 turnovers by Purdue. Purdue out-rebounded them 36-20 but gave it all back with turnovers.
Good for St. Peter's. Tough to see Purdue just die on the vine like that.
Things really opening up for Coach K, unfortunately.
Starting to have that 1975, John Wooden rolling into retirement vibe re: Duke and K.

Maybe we'll get lucky and Arkansas bumps them off.
Don't know if I can stand to watch the final if Coach K is in it, and I don't even loathe him like a lot of people do.

Dude, are you capable of not both sidesing every comment you make?
March 26th, 2022 at 11:54 PM ^
I really do not want the SEC to win. On the other hand, I really do not want Duke to win. Such a quandary!
March 25th, 2022 at 11:28 PM ^
It's okay. If he wins it's a great story and he's gone next year anyway. The guy is 75 years old he can't even hardly walk. If he wins a tournament it's okay. He's a legend and you have to accept that. So easy to hate great ones isn't it? Seriously not a Duke fan I don't like them very much but in this case I do hope they win. And really what is everybody bitching about? He is 13 and 3 over Michigan State and Tom Izzo and for God's sake. That should count for something.

I picked Duke to win the NC in my bracket. It's gonna happen, you know it is.

Duke's tournament run seemed like a foregone conclusion after that Bomani Jones skit, which admittedly was hilarious.
Well One thing I have to say about Matt Painter and Purdue is they are very patient and never played with a sense of urgency this whole game. Unreal how non chalant Matt Painter coaches.
Too many teams panic in situations they don't need to do so, but agree with this take. At some point a sense of urgency needs to take over.
Vegas sportsbooks must have been going wild
Go Pee Cocks!
The real indictment of Painter is that Ivey had 6 two point attempts. You have a lottery pick, run the offense through him!
To be fair Ivey didn't want no smoke tonight.
Naw run it through the moving screen machine Edey.
Barkley eviscerating Painter, saying he had one of the worst game plans he's ever seen with Purude just walking the ball up the court and then just trying to pound the rock inside to the big guys all game with no adjustments...yep, Painter is still a chode. You got Ivey, a top 3 lottery pick, figure it out....bruh...

You're frikken weird, dude. Everybody on this blog likes Painter and you've called him a chode 3 times.
I'm very curious of this. Why does everyone like Painter. He might be a decent dude, but he regularly gets out coached in big games. 1 - 5 in sweet 16 games and 4 of those losses are to lower seeded teams. That's not good.
