Mates,
Overhand right by coach.  Bad shooting by team.

Melee ensues.

Snowflakes here:

He tried to grab the guy by the shirt collar and missed. It wasn't a punch (you can see him hand clinch when he misses the grab). He was trying to snatch him up bc they were grabbing his players. You can see one of the guys has a death grip on Williams' wrist (and Williams was trying to get that guy back). He shouldn't have done it, but it sure as hell wasn't a punch.

I thought, preseason, that Brooks, Jones and Dickinson would be able to establish enough of a core to get and keep this young team rolling-clearly those three do, in fact, not have it...and I  had hope that John's would enter this fray. This threesome's play is not able to carry the day even when they are, individually, playing relatively well. Each one of these three has been disappointing in their own way-collectively they have made this a rudderless team.

I did not see any of today's game. The end of the Iowa game was informative enough for me to judge where this team's issues are-mostly everywhere.

ok, not quite as good as you thought. But more of a problem is the lack of ANYONE else being a consistent presence at anything. Houston, Moussa, WIlliams, frankie, bufkin. these guys show up 1 of every 5 games each.

There should be better balance, but instead it all falls on hunter and eli.

Don't get me started on Johns.

They just don't have anyone who can create off the dribble -- for themselves or for others. Houstan drives and then tries to sneak shots in at the rim rather than finishing strong or drawing contact to get FTs. Jones can't do much at the rim unless the refs let him get away with his old man YMCA push offs, shoulder charges, and stiff arms. Slow us down to a half court pace, and we're stuck in the mud.

swing aside... everything that beilien's teams were good at.. this team is terrible at..

1. Not fouling

2. Defense without fouling

3. Shooting

4. Ball movement

5. Not turning it over.

But we do nothing to make up for it. We're not really good at anything. Now, we have to be embarrassed because our coach is a hot head who gets physical in the handshake line? Over a timeout? Cmon man... Pissed or not, thats just stupid. Tell him off, yell, walk to the tunnel.

Moussa and Terrance looked ready to fight - which is another bad look. both were in the brawl. I couldnt see who terrance was into it with, but it was borderline going into the crowd. which.. good god...

Just walk off the court then if you are mad at the timeout. pull the team - do something other than resort to violence.

He appears in over his head on and off the court.

Williams did. I thing wrong.  He was the one holding back the WI assistant coaches who were the ones who escalated everything.  Williams then tackled the WI assistant coach twice as he went after Juwan.    He didn’t react until he was sucker punched by WI player #0, Jahcobi Neath, which is also what set Diabate into action (although Diabate was on guard looking for an excuse to jump in)

I put 0 blame for anything on Williams

As Brendan Quinn just tweeted, Gard started the whole thing by putting hands on Juwan in the handshake line. He grabbed his arm and wouldn't let him pass. None of this happens without Gard's pussy move.

Having just seen the clip, I'm not sure how anyone can draw any particular conclusions about this "event".

I do find the Juwan hating from  some on this forum to be most interesting.

Yup. Suspension through the end of the year, in part because it escalated in a way that put student athletes in danger. He needs some anger management tools. Meditation had worked well for me. I hope he keeps his job and learns because he loves Michigan and is a well-liked person. And then the university just sets a zero tolerance policy for the rest of his time here. As someone who has sometimes struggled with anger, I wish him luck in finding tools to handle it better

What the fuck is the matter with you people that say Juwan should get a suspension?!?!?!  He hit an opposing coach and instigated a brawl!  He should be fired immediately.  This is embarassing for the university.  Unacceptable!

He'll get suspended but definitely not fired, mainly because, right or wrong, Michigan won't want to deal with the PR headache of firing a mostly successful minority head coach in this day and age. Doesn't matter if the firing would be deserved, just imagine the backlash it would get.

People crack me the fuck up in here.  It doesn’t matter if it was a punch, hand slap, open whatever, you DO NOT - EVER attempt to physically touch someone else - period.  You are paid millions to lead young men and represent the school.

Bad look. If this was any other school we would be calling for the coaches head.

Just saw this about five minutes ago, I hate to say it but you have to fire him. This is unacceptable. You can’t have your coach getting into altercations with other coaches. This is close to Woody Hayes type stuff.

Not sure why everyone is calling this a "slap". When Howard's fist came off that blow, it was clenched. No question.  Gard put his hand out to stop Howard, in a non-hostile way, and then Howard grabbed a fistful of his sweater, in a definitely hostile way. Howard was the one in HIS face the whole time.  And Howard was a long way from Krabbenhoft, with lots of people intervening, when he hit him.  He went to a lot of trouble to land that punch.  Unless it turns out that the punch was triggered by Krabbenhoft calling Howard a dumb n****r, or something to that effect, I'm not sure how Howard survives this.  And I'm not sure what would convince me he should.

I found the culprit, and it was in the game thread

Less than half an hour after putting this into the ether, the unfortunate incident occurred. Thanks, internet guy

The ending of Spike Lee’s “Do the Right Thing” was morally ambiguous and deliberately provocative, intended to draw out the callous sentiment of those whose fanciful ideals don’t gel with the reality of power struggles people experience coming up from the bottom of the belly of the beast.

anyway, it doesn’t surprise me to see there’s no shortage of sanctimony here on the mgoboard. It’s damn good to see coach show some fire. Accountability is needed but let’s not act like this is some unpardonable sin.
