PJ Fleck contract extension...What about Harbaugh?
Just read on PJ Fleck's contract extension with the Gophers.
The discussions regarding a Harbaugh extension (even lifetime contract talk) seemed to end in the spring/summer. Seeing his contract is up in 2021, is there any new information out there on an extension?

Smart thing for him to do before they get housed by PSU.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
Uh, should I tell him?
Edit: I’m dumb, thought he was referring to Michigan/Harbaugh and not Fleck/Minny.
Yeah, Minnesota is probably gonna get wrecked by Penn State.

They took Penn State to overtime last year in Happy Valley
November 5th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
Am I missing something? Minnesota didn't play Penn State last year (schedule). They did take them to overtime in 2016 when Fleck was at Western.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
Damn it, double posted.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
I think PSU is going to have all they can handle with the Gophers.

I think Minnesota is ‘good’ by Minnesota standards. But as an overall football team, classic paper tiger. I think they finish 9-3 with losses to PSU, Wisc, and Iowa.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:33 PM ^
8-4 with a bowl game loss, too.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
One of their remaining games is Northwestern. Northwestern is a train wreck this year.
Minnesota will win that game and at least get to 9 wins.

You’ve been around long enough to know not to ask these questions.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:02 PM ^
So many bowl games these days are lost before they're even played. That said, I don't see Minnesota as a team that would no-show a bowl game. They're still making their "statement", and any bowl win helps legitimize them.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
Minnesota is gonna win 9 games this year. I don’t see any chance they beat penn state or Wisconsin. Iowa and northwestern will be the deciding factors if they can get to 10 wins
November 5th, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
They get both at home. SP+ has PSU by two points this weekend, and Minnesota favored by two over Wisconsin. Plus they are getting better every week. So I'm not sure how you dismiss both of those as "no chance."
November 5th, 2019 at 5:28 PM ^
The Penn St game might be too much for them at this stage. But Wisconsin peaked way too early and their season isn't what everyone was telling them it was a few weeks ago.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
Yeah, maybe. But most commenters here seem to have a higher opinion of Penn State than I do. I see going to Minnesota as similar to going to Iowa, and PSU only won that one 17-12. Yes, Iowa has a better defense, but Minnesota's isn't bad, and has a better offense.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:13 PM ^
Tell me again how Illinois had no chance to beat Wisconsin.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:20 PM ^
Or South Carolina had no chance to beat Georgia. Or Kansas State, no chance against Oklahoma...
November 5th, 2019 at 8:14 PM ^
Gophers beat Wisconsin in Madison last year.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
I don't think PSU is that great of a team. Even if they win a close one over the Gophers, OSU will crush them and win by 3 or 4 TDs!
November 5th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
Minnesota will win this game.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
If Minnesota wins this game, it means PSU had an off night.
I don't think PSU is the fifth best team in the country, but they are definitely a better team than Minnesota. Minnesota is a really good team this year, but by their standards. I think Minnesota will stay in this game for a half or so based off of pure emotion and adrenaline. Probably the biggest Minnesota home game in years. But PSU is just better, unless Franklin makes a couple of bonehead decisions. Which he could certainly do.
November 5th, 2019 at 11:38 PM ^
Bad weather isn’t good for PSU. They rely heavily on speed and taking the top off the defense. They’re not particularly good running the ball.
Minnesota has a solid run game and they use the pass as an extension of the run. Home team gets a nice boost in bad weather.
PSU should win but these are exactly the kinds of games teams like this lose. PSU is good, not great.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
they are being proactive so dissuade him from FSU or USC....or MSU lol.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:18 PM ^
SP+ has Penn State by two. Pi Ratings has Penn State by four.
Both are slight paper tigers relative to their win-loss record, but people are acting like this is Ohio State coming in there. Come on, we all saw PSU a couple weeks ago. Unless they bring the same refs, I have a hard time seeing them blowing out Minnesota. If they do, it means they played their best game and/or Minnesota played their worst.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
I think Harbaugh pretty much has a lifetime contract. No way he ever gets fired so as long as he wants to be at Michigan he’ll have his place and I’m very happy that’s the case.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
Sparty fans said that about Dantonio 3/4/5 years ago as well.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
Dantonio and Harbaugh are not similar coaching comparisons when it comes to their respective universities. I get what you are saying, but it’s not the same thing. Also, fuck Michigan State
November 5th, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
We have no reason to believe Dantonio will be fired. He might choose to retire though.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
I think it was 3-9 years ago.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:14 PM ^
I see what you did there Mr. EQ.
Would not be surprised if Dbagtonio retires after he gets his millions in January.
Hope you are well, buddy?.
GO BLUE ??
November 5th, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
He can't sustain infinite losses to Ohio State, he's gotta win a couple of those soon and then what you say is true. This year is... improbable.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:30 PM ^
You must be quite easy to please with such low expectations
November 5th, 2019 at 4:33 PM ^
Says the guy who wants to hire Scott Frost.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
Giving anyone a lifetime contract is fucking stupid. Ask pre-scandal PSU and post-90s FSU.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
Thinking a) we're gonna fire Harbaugh, b) we're gonna go after Frost and c) he's gonna leave Nebraska for Michigan is three levels of %$#@ing stupid.
Cheers.
November 5th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
If Michigan fires Harbaugh and hired Scott Frost I would be done. That’s not a world I want to be a part of.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:12 PM ^
SO AM I! Go Blue!
November 5th, 2019 at 11:19 PM ^
I disagree. I think he has to beat osu either this year or next to keep his job.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
I think you need to be 8-0, row a boat, and look like Gary from Gary's Old Town Tavern to qualify.
November 5th, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
Do you think he deserves one?
November 5th, 2019 at 5:03 PM ^
Why in the world would UM give Harbaugh an extension right now?
November 5th, 2019 at 5:40 PM ^
Because he’s owns Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, and the service academies
November 5th, 2019 at 5:21 PM ^
An extension doesn't mean that Fleck won't take the FSU job if offered. It just allows him more security when the Minnesota program turns into a pumpkin and his "row the boat" shit stops sounding clever.
November 5th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
The extension means Florida State would have to pay a $10M buyout if they wanted Fleck.
November 5th, 2019 at 5:57 PM ^
He's headed to USC.
November 5th, 2019 at 6:31 PM ^
Definitely a good time to get that deal before all of the games against ranked foes comes...PSU, Iowa, & Wiscy may cause PJ to close out losing 3 of his last 4. 9-3 is till a great season at Minny, but it's certainly easier when two of your 3 crossover games are Rutgers and Maryland you don't play UM or OSU.
