Haha thanks. I just don't get why these institutions get the privledge to continue to profit off of sports. Even if every coach, AD employee, and faculty member of MSU was fired today, tomorrow they will make money because of what those people have done.

A lot of us knew/believed MSU handled these situations poorly and enabled players to get away with a ton of bad shit.

Details like Dantonio had a player talk to his mother as punishment for sexual assault  turns vague accusations into specific, damnable offenses.

Problem is the only people in a position to fire them is already complicit in the systemic failure to begin with. Pressure from the media and from the greater community would have to become so unbearable that they would have to step down. My guess is Mork cracks first--he was likely only planning to coach a few more years anyway. I hope he's proud because here cometh the fall.

That's an interesting question. It can't be an internal hire. The interim replacement will be and can't be expected to make any big moves. They need to hire a new president first. Anyone credible who wants the AD job will also want the authority to clean house. That probably goes for the president too.

as things get a closer and closer look.  Sounds like more NCAA and private liability issues if they were really allowing the team to investigate/judge/punish claims of sexual abuse or harrassment.

The preponderance of evidence, and the heinousness of the crimes means NCAA HAS TO consider death penalty here.

And to think, there was support for LAS, Hollis, Izzo, and Dantonio, and all of the rest of them as recently as 4 days ago.

Burn, baby, burn.

I just read through the whole thing, they basically have done everything they could to sweep this stuff under the rug and now it's all coming to a head. The NCAA is gonna drop Lack of Instituitional Control on them quick.

I don't see actual sanctions coming down for the revenue programs, however the leniency will no longer be allowed. MSU under the microscope will lose their advantage with admissions and eligibility, and discipline of players.

In this climate I believe we will see sanctions. The #metoo movement is front and center, and so is Title IX. If MSU wants to stay alive for the long haul, they will self sanction, and if they don't the NCAA will make an example of them. They are the perfect school for this, since they have national recognition, but their absence (in football at least) will not be a problem for the NCAA football brand. I bet they lose bowl eligibility at least.

You just got to look at those MSU bball teams from the mid-2000's .  There was all kind of sick reports of what those dirtbag basketball players would do at parties , starting with Paul Davis.

Many of the cases involving football and basketball cited in this article led to no charges being filed by the alleged victims. That, alone, probably makes for sufficient "air cover" in the minds of many people who would be responsible for the decision whether or not to retain Izzo and Dantonio.

Softie, which I tend to be.

Of course it goes without saying, feel totally horrible for the victims. They are the #1 focus in all this.

I also feel bad for all the student athletes that went to a university they THOUGHT they believed in and are still doing positive things for their school. They got the rug pulled out from under them and will probably have to look elsewhere to finish their education/athletics because of a system that's completely broken, top to bottom.

I felt bad when innocent athletes were forced to tranfer or live under sanctions at PSU when they had never done anything wrong themselves.

But sometimes when Mommy & Daddy got to jail, their innocent kids pay a price as well.

All the more reason to be angry at those that failed in their duties, and at least most students will have transfer options depending on how all of this shakes out.
