OTish: Cam Ward opts to go pro
Cam Ward has opted to go pro rather than transfer to another team. I believe this was OSU's main QB transfer hope for 2024 so now it looks like they're stuck rolling with Devin Brown or Lincoln Kienholz who put up all of 3 points on Mizzou, or true freshman Air Noland.
You hate to see it

11 Warriors has been saying for a bit that Will Howard is the one they’d have the best shot with if they were to get a transfer, but it’s not the most likely outcome.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:40 PM ^
Howard is good but mistake-prone. Can put a team on his back and gut out a win, but also is prone to heroball moments where he tries to do too much.
That said, he makes OSU's current QB room look like the bums that they are.

Some say Howard’s back up Avery Johnson was pushing him at K State. He was the MVP of their Bowl game.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
I thought Johnson looked pretty bad passing in that game. Id be a little surprised if he was really pushing Howard
January 1st, 2024 at 2:52 PM ^
I would not want to see OSU pick up Will Howard.
He looked pretty good in all the Farmageddon snow. I would not want to see him get the chance to toss it to OSU's WR corps on a bright November afternoon.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:25 PM ^
OSU's main hope at QB is/was Will Howard. The Florida schools were going after Ward.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:26 PM ^
I hope it's not Air Noland ... I can't deal with Gus Johnson wetting himself saying that name every ten seconds
January 1st, 2024 at 12:33 PM ^
Yeah. God, I used to like Gus so much. And today we have Herb Kirkstreet.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:04 PM ^
I really like Gus. My only complaint about him is he is too excitable. A bit too rah-rah for me. He does a great job of balancing and remaining neutral. He would be a phenomenal announcer for radio where he could go nuts for one side. Too bad TV announcers are always meant to be "neutral". Really wish there were home team TV announcers for all my sports and not just Bally Sports Detroit.

I find Klatt/Gus Johnson and RG3 refreshing in a sea of vanilla-toned guys. There are times when he gets on my nerve with his overhyping other teams against us, but he's consistently the most authentic of those who get excited, like that's his actual personality and not just a shtick.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:04 PM ^
Exactly. Count your blessings, it could be Pat Macafee.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:20 PM ^
Love Gus, but "Blake 'The Great' Corum" is terrible. He needed something better than that. He says it like it rhymes. Just saying "The Great Blake Corum" would've been fine. But "BLAKE -- THE GREAT" ... drives me crazy.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:27 PM ^
I like Gus but Musburger was better at the nickname game.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:18 PM ^
Nobody tops Chris Berman.
see: Chuck "New Kids on The" Knoblauch.🤣
January 1st, 2024 at 4:06 PM ^
I still remember like it was yesterday the first time Musberger exclaimed, “The A TRAIN!”
January 1st, 2024 at 2:10 PM ^
eh, I like Blake the Great. There was only one other by that name, Alexander, and he did a lot of stuff too.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:21 PM ^
Blake - Milk and Steak - Corum. Harbaugh would approve.
January 1st, 2024 at 3:24 PM ^
He smelled his farts a few too many times, IMO, dude needs to chill a bit. He has become a caricature of himself this past 6-8 years or so.
January 1st, 2024 at 5:32 PM ^
You are just old and you don’t like loud noises.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:53 PM ^
Herbstreit is so insufferable. In his mind, he knows everything and is sure to let you know that. He doesn't know how to let a broadcast breathe.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:45 PM ^
This so well said I signed in to up vote you.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:14 PM ^
I still like him, but find him tough to take at times.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:29 PM ^
Love Gus when we’re winning.
Horrible if we’re losing.
So been a great 3 years.
O-Ja-Bo
wiiiiiide open
There are some epic calls from the past 3 OSU games that will be burnt into our memories. And a twist of the knife to every Buckeye.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:32 PM ^
Whoa! Can they catch him?! No!
I don't have one that comes to mind from this year, actually. What was the call on the Moore pick? I think it was, Interception! Michigan's going to win! Basic.

This is your new auto-upvote from me.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:29 PM ^
Harbaugh really broke their program. He has achieved everything we wanted. A national title is only gravy.
Knocked back Sparty into irrelevance, and they had hold on state.
Won 3 straight BIG titles.
Columbus is burning.
Hope who reads this, fully appreciates what Harbaugh has done.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:34 PM ^
Remember when 3/4 of this board wanted him fired and for us to hire Matt Campbell lol.
I love the mgoboard but sometimes we're all a bit dumb
January 1st, 2024 at 12:55 PM ^
Not me, ahem….. :(
January 1st, 2024 at 12:55 PM ^
This immediately came to mind. The panic from people was real!
January 1st, 2024 at 1:18 PM ^
I remember having to tell a bunch of people to be patient and stop crying on a daily basis here. I also remember that the entire fanbase at games needed to play their role and have faith AT GAMES.
Not only has the team transformed on the field, but to witness just how fans (especially the students) have really taken to being more resilient and LOUD. It's amaizing to see how fans and the team interact, and how the stadium is filled with people who don't look like they're going to cry at the smallest thing that doesn't go Michigan's way.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:38 PM ^
Well, you may not want to visit this board after tonight's game if we lose. The dumb, bitter, and despondent will be out in full force.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:12 PM ^
Forgot drunk
January 1st, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
We're already here
January 1st, 2024 at 1:59 PM ^
Darker,
You mean like they're doing to our men's BB coach right now?!
January 1st, 2024 at 1:01 PM ^
Sorry but I disagree. A national title is EVERYTHING. All the other stuff you mentioned is gravy or icing on the cake. If they win it this year he is the GOAT at Michigan. I mean give Yost his due but that era is no comparison as to what Harbaugh has had to navigate.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:30 PM ^
I'm sorry but I don't think you fully appreciate where we were when he came in. Sparty was dominant and then OSU was. We were fucked, with anyone else. What he did was astounding. Think hard about MSU right now, and look at the OSU program fading.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:29 PM ^
Is this why the B1G expansion happened? OSU disappearing from the elite landscape. Need to bring Oregon and Washington in to bring competition to Michigan
January 1st, 2024 at 12:40 PM ^
Harder to go 11-1 when you don't get 11 free wins each season
12 free wins when we had Rich Rod and Hoke coaching
January 1st, 2024 at 12:36 PM ^
Does Herbstreit still have any eligibility?
Asking for someone in Columbus
January 1st, 2024 at 1:06 PM ^
Would love him to suit up one more time. If my memory is not failing me, he thew 4 picks in a 20-3 win for the good guys in Columbus. His last game in the rivalry I believe.
January 1st, 2024 at 1:42 PM ^
He played sparingly in '91 (though he may have thrown a late pick when it was already 31-3) behind Graham and led them to the 13-13 tie in '92.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:38 PM ^
Ward was originally rumored to be going to OSU but mostly just bad reporting. The same terrible OSU insider has said Will Howard commited already but they haven't announced it yet...so we shall see.
As an aside, Howard could be a good stop gap if available and JJ goes. Even if just because Buckeyes would self immolate.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:45 PM ^
They don't need to emulate themselves, they're terrible just being who they are normally
January 1st, 2024 at 1:05 PM ^
Fair lol. I corrected it in an edit.
January 1st, 2024 at 12:44 PM ^
aOSU operating budget 2024:
- Beard dye: $650k
- Private investigation firms: $1.5 million
- 5 star WR recruits: $4 billion
- QBs, defensive ends, offensive linemen, travel to Indianapolis/playoffs: a handful of warm gummy bears and a length of string
January 1st, 2024 at 12:46 PM ^
How far away from hanging 100 on Harbaugh are they? QB in waiting has a long row to hoe.
January 1st, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
Especially if they are only going to do it 3 points per game, like they did in their bowl game.
