I just think they don't know what they're doing when it comes to football.

And a big contract, that's the way college coach contracts are going. But the fully guaranteed part is what's nuts. You have to have an out. The contracts have to be incentive/performance based. You can't even fully guarantee $95 Million to Nick Saban.

Obviously big loss for couchburnU, maybe Jamari was seeing a trend? My old boss is a UW husky grad and I told him expect it to get ugly in E.L. this year...

It seems like almost every day I’m more impressed with the direct of the program in EL.

Give him a raise and extend his contract.

Please, don’t change a thing…

P.S. - I enjoy bringing academics into certain discussions.  In this case, I must give the Spartans credit - they seem to have been going after intelligent players.

If I had photoshop skills - and more free time - I would put Justin Thind's head on at least one of: Baghdad Bob, Kevin Bacon's "All is Well" scene from Animal House, and the "This is fine" Dog.

Kid seems to be a mix of EJ Holland and Sam Webb for MSU on their 247 site.  (True homer but still young and brash).  He has been going pure Spin mode ever since the Thorne-Coleman news in hopes of keeping the small percentage of Spartans willing to PAY for insider info off the ledge.

FWIW - This "was expected" by the coaching staff which is why they have so many (low rated) CBs slated for summer OVs to State.  --- If he comes back claiming NIL played a factor we will have all the bases covered.

Sometimes this just happens in recruiting - as M fans are painfully aware - but it is much easier watching from the sidelines.  I will try to be sympathetic to the few Spartans in my immediate circle but F#$% the rest of those miserable bastards.

One of my favorite Thind board posts was that he was criticizing Michigan for prioritizing Jeremiah Beasley, claiming that he was overrated (which coincided with us becoming the leader for him lol), and that we should actually be going for Cole Sullivan, who had just visited MSU, because he is massively underrated.

Well, don't look now, Justin, but looks like we're getting both!

I agree about how recruiting is always a bit of a cluster and so it can be difficult to read too much into a particular recruitment.  But one of the things I heard a ton about Tucker was he would recruit the southeast well and pull in better "athletes" than you get up north, a dubious claim both in terms of players he'd get as well as their quality.  But I think the assumption was that MSU would still pull in a decent number of quality Midwest recruits and that's where I think Tucker has really dropped off.  He's not getting that second tier of PA and OH talent like you'd expect, and he's not blowing the doors off HSes in MI either.

So basically what he's done is not carved out a niche in the traditional Midwest footprint (schools like UK and Cincy have gotten a lot of those guys recently) so he's had to go to the portal and take shots at lower-level P5 kids in the Sun belt and those are inherently less effective ways of building a consistent roster.

If I was Tucker I'd (a) keep cashing those checks but also (b) pick up my local recruiting and try to make inroads in schools in IN, MI, IL, OH, PA, etc. and sell yourself as the local Big 10 school where you'll have road games nearby (not like Cincy and UK who are the most northern teams in those leagues) that family can visit and where you'll be able to compete against top level talent.

I think his biggest problem is that he’s assembled an absolute garbage staff. I could see Tucker himself doing some recruiting given he coached at bama and uga where you learn the southern system and make some connections. But it’s not nearly enough to make up for the fact that your position coach is just a barely replacement level coach with a thin resume.

That definitely plays a role in it - it was telling that when given a pretty big assistant pool he just gave his old friends raises (and then, you know, didn't give them all the bonus in 2021) and didn't seem to really go after an elite recruiter except for that defensive line coach who bolted.

MeLLLLLLLL makes 95M no matter what he does.  He clearly doent care.  Laughing his ass off to his wife kids and family finally a sucker was found.  Colorado thought he was worth nearly zilch in the modern money game.  It only takes one sucker at the poker table and you dont know who it is - its you.  SUCKER FOUND.

He kept his special teams coach who probably is the worst coach in America.  As long as he gets HIS money and his assistants BONUSES he is laughing at his generational wealth! KEEP COMIN TUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just last year, MSU had a better recruiting class than UM at one point. In one year, everything collapsed for MSU. And UM is back on track. This is not going to sit well with RCMB. LOL.

Just thinking out loud hear and trying to give a hand to Little Brother, but maybe re-re-name it the "Izzo and Friends Football Facility."  Then tell guys like Howard "you're a friend of ours."

Well, one sales pitch to recruits that MSU does have us beat in is "Hey come here and you can have whatever number you want. Only five of you coming in. Take your pick."
