I will always remember " The Shot".

I actually believe that it is best for both sides to move on. I trust in Beilein. And hope things work out for the best for Jordan.

I'd like a montage of all his "bad body language" he allegedly showed the latter half of the season.  I saw a guy go to the sideline at times and get coached up and never had a look of disgust or shoo-off Beilein/a coach.  But some here proclaim his body language was very poor...I'd like to see proof.

It's crazy the how polarizing the viewpoint on this one kid has been.  Sorry but most of you have no clue what the fuck you saw on the court regarding Poole's play and attitude; it's mostly made up to fit some narrative you've crafted (i.e. yea, he made some poor plays on both ends of the court, along with every other player in the world, but not anywhere near the extent you claim).

Probably correct, as with anything, the middle-ground usually contains the cold-hard truth.

But so many here bash the kid and have this "don't let the door hit ya on the way out" mentality that come from such wrong foundations...i.e. they don't understand WHY he struggled in this offense and why the offense as a whole "struggled" (24th best in KenPom so it's all relative).  Spoiler alert, the offensive struggles don't so have much to do with Poole being some selfish asshole kid but more to do with how limited it is/will be with certain personnel.  Has he taken a poor shot before not within the context of what Beilein wants?!  Yep.  Has that been a primary issue for the offense this past season?  Nope.

He had selfish tendencies, and I do think he is high ego, but that's just who he is. Beilein knew that when recruiting him, and it's one of the reasons we all liked him. And it's why he's the guy we want taking those big shots.

I love Zavier, and he's a great leader and point guard, but the offense really needs to have a PG that can shoot it. If DDJ can develop more quickly, it would be a lot better for Jordan. But with Zavier, it's a lot harder for Poole to thrive

Addition by subtraction if Jordan Poole stays in the draft.  Guy apparently had one foot out the door all season while playing with his head up his ass most of the season.  I just don't see how a player like that is a net positive.  He is the opposite of the types of players Beilein gets the most out of.

Jordan Poole leaving for the NBA is just poor guidance from his parents.

He's not ready for the NBA and frankly right now he's merely a decent college player.

He would get devoured in the NBA and or G league.  It makes zero sense.

He made a legendary shot, but I got sick of the limp wristed mincing that qualified  as defense. It was like watching Ruby Rod from the Fifth Element D it up.  He was a primadonna that cared more about style and appearance then results.  Give me a team full of Simpsons anyday!

I'm sure Poole is gone.

Contrary to the opinion of many on this board, Jordan has a significant upside.

Jordan was not going to be afforded the opportunity to advance next year...the same issues will remain-possibly even worsen. This is clearly his opinion and, here, that is the one that matters.

Reading this board reinforces the correctness of his decision. I wish Matt D would come on here and put you all in your whiney, ignorant corners. This kid can play.

You obviously haven't been paying close attention.  He can beat his man off the dribble, often several at a time - go back and watch some of his highlight plays this year.  And he's a well above average 3 point shooter.  He was shooting about 50% earlier this year when he was getting decent looks - he's our best shooter even if the final numbers didn't show it.  There's a reason Michigan had a freshman taking the game winning shot in the 2nd round of the tourney last year - it didn't happen by accident.  He was nicknamed "baby Steph" in high school for a reason.  Players with that kind of talent don't "grow on trees."

Do I think Jordan should go?  No.  I will support him 100% if he wants to go.  There's no way that his family is that sensitive to Twitter morons.  They're not soft people.

Justin Pierce has trimmed his list to 3 teams: Michigan, Notre Dame and North Carolina. Hope this doesnt end up another Cam Johnson situation where NC got him. William&Mary is in the heart of ACC country so I'm not overly optimistic. Should have an answer pretty soon though. Hope Beilein can reel him in

No. Ominous is having one foot in the draft and one foot out of the draft to the point Beilein can’t sign a replacement.

Having both feet out the door is infinitely better.

Dude better hit the weight room if he wants to play for pay. Bounces off people like a water bug but without the quickness. He hit that one glorious shot and will go down in history for that, but pro? Got a lot of work to do youngsta

He didn’t have the career that previous SGs had in MAAR, Levert, Stauskas, Hardaway, and Harris. The 2 guard has been the group of Beilein players who have had the most success as Levert and Hardaway are our two best pros of the Beilein era and Stauskas is still holding on after 5 years. Harris looked to have some promise to be a rotational guard before his freak injury.

2 guards have been the strongest of the Beilein era, and the way the NBA is played now, if Poole can be a 38% 3pt shooter he can have a lot of staying power. He’s a less polished Gary Harris out of college and we have seen how well he has done.

I don't...   have seen this look on his face before, in Horford... you could tell he was pissed at the way he was used...and hearing Poole's father's words, confirmed it for me....

At this point, Poole is gone, and his spot is open.  If we find a quality player to take it, we should grab them without hesitation, rather than take the chance of being caught short.  Poole is free to do what's best for himself, but he has no right to expect the team to wait another month and half for him to make up his mind.  If he changes his mind but find that his spot is gone, that's the risk he takes.  It goes both ways.

No doubt in my mind that JP's goal from the time he first knew he could play was to play basketball for money. He'll get his chance --- one way (later round NBA draft) or the other (Greece, Turkey, whatever). Either way, Jordan, good-bye and good luck.

So, with Charles Matthews, Ignas Brazdeikis and Jordan Poole moving on, if no one else is added to the roster for next season and no else leaves, this is the Michigan men's basketball roster for the 2019-20 season:

Likely Starters: Jon Teske, Isaiah Livers, Zavier Simpson
Expected Rotation Players: Eli Brooks, Brandon Johns, Colin Castleton, David DeJulius
Possible Rotation Players: Adrien Nunez, Jalen Wilson, Cole Bajema
Scout Team: C. J. Baird, Luke Wilson, Jaron Faulds, Austin Davis, Rico Ozuna-Harrison

I think what most everyone in this thread is forgetting is that college kids make their own choices, and they might not always be the *best* ones.

Poole's an entrepreneur with his shoe business, and add drama and some publicity to the mix, I'd never fault a kid for walking to the exit. If he stays, great! I agree the staff could help get him to the next level of play, but if he goes, I wish him the best. Kid's a shooter.

Poole's a fine player and a likable guy. I hope he makes the pros, but we're not losing some superstar. His defense is suspect and he's inconsistent on offense. The latter has been blamed on Beilein from his father, but that's a tough sell when he's throwing up wild shots thinking he's going to be fouled. He's Michigan's JR Smith.

Has someone asked the following question(s).

First, why did Poole come to UM? Probably because he wanted to shoot 3 point shots and it was a guard oriented system.

Second, why come back to UM and shoot 21 ft shots when you can play someone else and shoot 23 foot shots? Why practice shots that won't get you paid.

There was a tv program and they guys were basically stating the obvious which reinforces why Poole should leave. The NBA has gotten away from athleticism and is more reliant on skill. It's a 3 point shooting league. The entire league values long distance shooting and if you aren't taking and developing your 23-24 foot shooting to space the floor and get 3 points for a basket then you are just wasting time.

Is Beilein really helping Poole with that goal? Is anyone in college allowing that kind of basketball?

It's selfish to be shooting 24 foot 3 pointers when the 21 foot option is open. If it's that important, college needs to move the 3 point line back.

But a kid purposely taking a more difficult shot to benefit himself and not the team should not be on Michigan. He should be in the G league, where it's more individual than team oriented.

I agree with you so that tells me that it isn't a good fit. College should think about moving the line back as you said because as I mentioned on another post, these guys are trying to develop a pro game when they are 14 years old. To be Steph Curry 2.0.

The ultimate goal is to get paid? Isn't that what college is for essentially everyone? Land a job? Why go to college to practice something that won't make you successful or in demand when you can go someone else and perfect your craft.

If I want to be an artisan contractor, do I need to go to college to should I go to trade school?

Poole is clearly making a logical and intelligent decision and this is why many of these guys just go to college for just 1 year or so...because they have no real  other choice. Can you imagine if these guys could make a 100k in some league that had the same NBA rules? Poole wouldn't have even come to UM.
