Yeah, I'm doubting that tweet was strictly heat of the moment. They want out.

With most families, I think they may think more highly of Jordan than what is reality, but they're allowed to whatever they want. Clearly there's an issue and it may be better from a team chemistry/morale perspective for him to be gone

I mean Beilein has said that Poole has been one of the hardest players for him to coach. He got into a fight during practice his freshman year with Brent Hibbits. Poole is kinda wild child for better or worse and maybe isn't mentally mature enough to be coached by and take criticism from a person like Beilein

Really? Never heard this but it doesn't surprise me.

Jordan is a good player, but I worry his ego/mentality doesn't fit his talent, and he may have a hard time sticking in the league. Rooting for him hard, but I just have concerns.

The weight of the evidence is not good. I hope Poole comes back, because I think if he purposes to do so he can be a dominant player next year. But I think the staff has been preparing for him to be gone (there's a reason we're in play for so many recruits and transfers) and I'm mentally getting to the same place.

Part of me does wonder if we are better off in the long run having someone grow into replacing his minutes.  He seems to have some growing up to do and if he doesn’t want to do it here so be it.  Maybe a year from now Beilein has a better player.

That being said I wish he would commit to staying and getting better.   He seems like a great kid.

I don't necessarily know if he'd ever be all that dominant in college; he's a fine shooter but he doesn't do anything spectacularly well and he's not that type of uber-athlete where it can all "click" and they make a leap like D.J. Wilson.  He's a conventional NBA guard and so I get him wanting to see if he can cut it there.

I think that there's a subtle difference between what you realistically predict, and what you hope the team can do. I hope that UM will never lose again. For the last four years, I have been predicting 10-12 win seasons. Bullish, sure. But with some understanding of reality.

Huge difference  between what I hope happens and what I think will happen.

If somebody started a "what do you hope Michigan's record will be this year" I'd be all over the 15-0 call.

But because the question was "what do you think will happen" and God granted me a brain with the amazing ability to process data I've shied away from that call.

There's been one 15-0 team ever lol

Since 2004, we've beaten OSU once, won zero B1G's, and have been to 0/8 B1G title games.

All of a sudden we're going to accomplish all of those things, along with beating some order of Clemson and Bama to win the title?

0% chance that happens. 10-2 regular season. Losing way too much on defense to go 15-0

I think its possible. Maybe I missed some news about Poole but last I checked ESPN had him ranked as the 68th prospect in the draft class which puts him on the fringe of being undrafted.

If Poole goes undrafted then why wouldn't he return?

I would listen to the Ant Wright podcast. Basically he boils it down to Z improving as an outside shooter. If Poole thinks that wont happen then he will be playing in the same offense as this season. The most ideal situation is Poole improving and being used like Stauskas in the P&R. That system worked because the floor was well spaced with shooters.

My opinion is that X's form will not allow him to improve much. His right elbow swings out to the side and he appears to block his own view of the rim during his shot.

Not to mention, he shoots a slow rolling set shot which makes it tough to get it off. He doesn't rise and shoot which is needed in B's PnR offense.

Good. Bad advice doesn't mean you can't think for yourself. I think we have better options that one shot.

Poole is probably just being recruited over as if he's certainly leaving. Smart move on JB so he isn't left holding his dick in the breeze.

Yeah, you don't tell a recruit you might have a spot.  Can't keep him on the back burner like that.  Definitively go after him.

As of right now, Poole declared for the draft and doesn't have his spot.  If he decides he wants to withdraw from the draft and there's a spot open, he can have it, but until then, it's open.

But what if he doesn't get drafted as Im going to assume he wont? Is Poole seriously going to go overseas or G League? Thatd be incredibly stupid

But Im already liking this Nah'shon kid. 6'3 PG? YES PLEASE.

247 has him as the #69th recruit in the 2019 class

Poole can do whatever he wants. Somehow, it seems like he feels he was disrespected or misused or something, and also like family et. al. are telling him he has NBA talent. I thought that Dylan at umhoops had a good insight. He said that fans want it both ways: to have NBA talent on the roster, but for them to stick around. The reality is that if a single NBA team wants to draft him and pay him, it is worth going. I do wish Poole well, whatever he does, and I hope he gets honest and good advice from Scouts and teams.

MichiganStan

Fans do want NBA talent but we kind of want the players to put that NBA talent on display for a season at least. You can tell Poole has it in him to one day play in the NBA but he certainly didn't give a seasons worth of displaying that talent. Poole had a good month. Other than that he was incredibly inconsistent

StephenRKass

I'll agree that Poole didn't really display the talent consistently, which is disappointing to the fan base, and unlikely to point to a first round position. For whatever reason, I don't think Poole consistently hit 3 point shots this year. And somehow, his passing game and his defense were not awe inspiring. Still, if someone is going to give you the money, I guess go on and get it. Sure, the better thing to do is to develop into a first round pick with a guaranteed contract and more money. I guess Poole figures that sticking around a year isn't going to make that happen. C'est la vie. Next man up.

Look at the difference in commentary for Iggy vs Poole..from us fans I mean. Seems like the narrative around here is that we all agree/can understand more that its time for Iggy to take his talents to next level. 20 year old freshman, physically mature, has always wanted to get in have A good year and move on...fine whatever we wish him well wherever he goes.

I think a lot of fans are more vocal about Poole because we know he has the NBA talent in him buried deep down somewhere (and it comes up to say hi from time to time), but a lot shit stemmed from his decision making skills keeps that buried deep down.

Going to get negged for this but JB's system doesn't work with selfish/all about me players.

I really do wish him the best, he is a kid trying to find his way with the generation Z mentality...BUT he needs to grow up real quick.

I think Brian had a great analogy for JP...he is taking a giant step back three with his career.

Beilein's system also doesn't work very well with a pG who can't shoot.  Issues arise and things begin to crumble because of it, ergo, other players are forced to make something out of the offense.  Then us fans get mad at said players because of inefficient looking shots being taken, but not so much at one of the culprits, because he can hit a hook shot (not that we should be mad at Z but his inabilities are a prime reason for a Beilein offense to bog down).

wish the kid well and move on, no need to bash him.

i'd take 70k to play basketball professionally right now as a working professional, i woulda taken it in college too.  yes he could improve his stock at michigan, but cheers to having belief in himself to achieve his dreams with or without michigan
