If you're talking about the same podcast I'm thinking Seth took it down.  He tweeted that there was a comment made that was to the effect of "there's no way to be sure of what Bo knew" and to quote the tweet "there wasn't enough pushback".  Sadly, I don't know how embed tweets.  I only started my Twitter in December.  I've tried watching a tutorial on here and all I get is an error message.

To be exact. It was Ace who made the request to remove it (yea, I know, surprised, right?)

Apparently Ace felt that Craig Ross was somewhat defending the Bo side of the story on the podcast, and the others (Brian, Seth, etc) didn’t do enough to push back on Craig. Ace claims to be a victim of abuse in the past (a claim of which I’m NOT refuting) so the overall podcast didn’t sit well with him. Hence why he got it removed.

I am listening to the pod now. With respect to Ace, I disagree with the take that Craig Ross was defending Bo. He was using his experience as a lawyer to say that it is very difficult to know precisely what was said or what was known 40 years ago. He even used an example of a recent case he had. This is not a defense of Bo, but rather an outcome of his own experience. My father was a lawyer, and he also was very careful about being sure both sides were heard. While I am not a lawyer, I think this just happens in a profession where you have to know precisely what you can prove and what is more hearsay.

My problem with taking down the podcast is that the process that we are currently going through reminds me in a way of surgery. It sucks, and it hurts, and it's unpleasant for the patient. But it has to be done. Craig was bringing up points and backing them up. You can disagree with them, you can think he is a jerk for them. But we should all listen to them at the very least to know where everybody today stands. By taking down the podcast you end up chilling conversation. And instead of chilling conversation, we need to be hyper transparent so that we can lance the boil.

What happened was abhorrent. We need to be honest about it, expose exactly what we know and what we don't, and to the best of our ability to hold everyone accountable to the extent that we can. (Most of the actors are dead, so that accountability is going to be lessened for a variety of reasons). I love the idea of no longer naming things or building statues but including an all encompassing history acknowledging our triumphs but also our failures.

Further, and as I discuss this this is becoming my Carthago delenda est, we need to make sure that our current structures are such that this in no way can happen now. Or that if it does, it's caught very quickly and dealt with very openly. We cannot fix the past, only hang our head and admit to our failures and help the victims as best we can. But we should use that as a lever to make sure that this cannot happen again.

I agree with you.  I was quite surprised it got removed for the reasons discussed, even when considering the wide reach influence Ace has over this site.  Like you, I thought Craig's approach was acceptable and I did not think we was defending Bo.

Overall, this is going to be a sore subject for a lot of people, especially Michigan fans and its going to take some time to process the information and come to an equilibrium.  Until then, there's going to be some interesting takes and associated reactions to it.  But, like you, I don't think removing the podcast was the best idea in that regard.

That was one of the most civil discussions about a very difficult topic with varying viewpoints that I've heard in a long time.  Hell, the argument over the 2007 team "what ifs" was more heated and ESPN-talking-head-like than the Anderson report.

Removing that podcast based on any opinion stated therein is absurd.  It never ceases to amaze me some of the proponents of certain topics want everyone else to be open to new ways of thinking but they themselves don't accept any opinion but their own.

What does the ref signal for sex targeting?

A fist to the groin?

I bet it will result in less missed playing time than regular targeting
