Hey Rob, I was the one that…

Hey Rob, I was the one that posted the Stalions thread.  Didn’t intend to cause a stir.  I just thought it was interesting that Winovich spotted him.

I am from Missouri so seeing on CBS sports was my first knowledge of it.  I only posted after seeing it was not a topic on the blog and wasn’t mentioned on Fox sports or the network in Bristol.  Figured other readers would be surprised to find out about that as well.

Thanks for what you do and have a happy New Year.  Go Blue!

I agree with you in premise…

I agree with you in premise.  I'm not sure how that works legally however.  More than half the conference is in the CST, including the Big Ten headquarters.

If I were a betting man it…

If I were a betting man it will be at 12:00 AM CST since the Big Ten offices are in Chicago.

My two other favorite quotes…

My two other favorite quotes that hint at this are:

“A source told ESPN that the Wolverines have used an "elaborate" scouting system to steal signals from future opponents since at least 2021.” (ironically Dudek is gone by then)

”He had one role," said a source with knowledge of Michigan's staff.” (Who fits this quote?!)

I am finding some things…

I am finding some things interesting when reading the article.

References are made that Stalions worked in recruiting under Albert Karschnia (hired in December ‘21).  It goes on saying that Stalions has pictures working on the sideline with Don Brown (let go in Dec. ‘20) and Mike Macdonald (left on own in Jan. 22).

Who overlaps this time period that worked in recruiting?  The answer is Matt Dudek, former recruiting director that was let go in April of 21.

Ironic that many people also place Dudek as whistleblower for Harbaugh’s recruiting violations during Covid.

Just food for thought.

Glad you said that Chuck.  I…

Glad you said that Chuck.  I didn't want to post my narrative in the post.  Feel the same way however!  Go Blue!

That is the best way to put…

That is the best way to put things as they are currently; specifically when Bacon and Webb have concerns.  Bacon to my knowledge has nothing to gain from his feeling, where as Sam has a subscription model (he seems to genuinely care about the future of the program however.)

"My opinion is" Harbaugh is at a career crossroads so to speak.  I truly believe he wants to be at Michigan. However the climate with NIL cooperation with the university makes him feel as if his hands are tied to improve the football program and the athletes he cares about.  I think his mission is to improve this area for the young men he EDUCATES in their field of WORK.  This also allows Coach Harbaugh to have a very competitive team against the best football schools in the nation.

If he can't get the university on the same page then he may have wondering eyes.  Just my opinion.

I am no expert on this by…

I am no expert on this by any means, but with that being said.  I agree with you.  They are going to hold on to being independent as long as they can.  If they feel forced to make a move to a conference I can not fathom them going to the SEC.  They have connections with Michigan, USC, and other BIG schools such as Purdue.  As much as they value independence they value tradition.

Also the BIG would accept them in regardless of AAU criteria.  It is still a top academic school and most importantly is a huge draw financially.  They are probably the only school that holds that exception.

My question is why?  You…

My question is why?  You know this specific thread is a positive vibe for fans.  You have 30 days to find another team to celebrate for. GFY!

That is sharp looking jersey…

That is sharp looking jersey!  If I was about 20 years younger I would absolutely buy it.

This topic gets more…

This topic gets more interesting by the day.  I've been following this for a long time since I am a Missouri resident.  Michigan fanatic first, but always try to root for the home state school.  With that being said, I learned a lot about expansion when reading about Mizzou pursuing BIG alliance and eventual acceptance into the SEC.  Schools like Missouri wanted a stable conference for multiple reasons.  Increased revenue, increase of enrollment, and long term stability.

For the longest time, I believed it would be the four majors; ACC, SEC, BIG, and PAC.  All of which could form a sixteen league conferences.  However, this doesn't appear to be happening now.  The move of Oklahoma and Texas were much more of a power grab from a financial and educational perspective then I thought we would see.  I truly thought Texas would go ACC, PAC, or BIG; never imagined the SEC for them.

With that being said.  I think it will now be two major conferences.  The BIG and SEC (32 teams each).  Like other commenters noted, it will be AFC and NFC essentially.  So my early guess is that the BIG  accepts USC and brings 3 more west coast schools.  The dominoes will fall and things will fall accordingly to academic and athletic standards.

It will be a roller coaster the next couple years until television deal can be ironed out.  My head is spinning already!

That's a great question.  My…

That's a great question.  My quick guess is no from since it appears they are not members of the AAU.

Penn State is not leaving to…

Penn State is not leaving to join the ACC.  Between what they make with the Big Ten media rights and the AAU consortium funds for research it would be silly for them to make such a decision.

This whole thread is a bunch of hypothetical ideas on illogical scenarios.  I do believe that the SEC wants Texas for the AAU connection as well.  Their only current members are U of F and Mizzou.

https://www.aau.edu/who-we-are/our-members

The Big Ten has every school in the membership except one....Nebraska which got voted out when it moved to the Big.

This year is going to be a…

This year is going to be a weird recruiting cycle for a lot of programs.  There is not a lot of tape or scouting out there about the recruits against their competition.  In a way that may help Michigan's staff identify some under the radar players that will fit the new scheme on defense.

Upvoted you because you are…

Upvoted you because you are correct that I am lazy.  Then downvoted you because I admitted it.

I'm so glad you mentioned…

I'm so glad you mentioned the podcast.  I woke up half awake and saw it and when I returned to listen it disappeared.  I thought I was in the Twilight Zone.

Totally agree with you.  The…

Totally agree with you.  The chemistry on this team is top notch and the video of Chaundee Brown having his transfer accepted at practice gave me goose bumps.  Once they were able to get a couple of big wins, they really started to trust each other.  With that said, I think Iggy off the bench would still compliment this team.  Just don't know that Jordan would have gelled as well.

People are being a bit harsh…

People are being a bit harsh on this topic in my opinion.  I don't think any of us can argue how great the chemistry, and team has come together.  This is a hypothetical question about players that could have been involved had they opted to stay at the University.  Based on my observations, I think Iggy off the bench would have been a nice chamber in the gun and would not have disrupted chemistry.  A hot Jordan Poole for a clutch shot is awesome.  I just don't think he would have meshed as well with this squad.

That's a good point.  That…

That's a good point.  That position has really evolved over the years as the passing game has become so prevalent.  I guess in Junior's case, it would depend if Michigan obtains an aggressive coordinator that will utilize him in a similar fashion.

I tend to agree with you…

I tend to agree with you. Here comes the however part.  We dropped one prospect and had two defensive flips according to Seth's front page article on "Stargazing".  They are:

Quintin Somerville: appeared to decommit due to Nua's eventual departure and stayed out west with UCLA. (signing day flip)

Casey Phinney: Per Seth - "I kept the data so might as well update it. I figured there might be a drop when he got dropped from Michigan's class and flipped to BC, but he's been basically ignored."

Brandon Jennings: A guy that flipped to us from Florida State that then flipped to Maryland (signing day flip)

So I guess what I'm trying to articulate is that two signing day flips with our horrible season is not unfeasible.   The harder part to ignore is the elephant in the room.  Lack of defensive players committed.  That is a failure of coaching and recruiting from top to bottom.

That is my understanding as…

That is my understanding as well.  In the Don Brown thread ,a tweet was posted essentially saying that he contacted the recruits and encouraged them to maintain their commitment to Michigan while promoting the university. Something got lost in translation.  Either this didn't happen or they forgot to tell Junior Colson.  Good question for Matt Dudek I'd say.

This has been mentioned in a…

This has been mentioned in a couple threads tonight, but thanks for making it a topic.  I am sympathetic to Junior if he was not informed of the possible departure of Don Brown.  He was being recruited as a Viper which is pretty specific to a Don Brown defense.  With that said, he also should have asked these questions prior to signing a letter of intent.  I believe he can still be successful at Michigan with a good coach however.  It would be nice for him and Michigan to mend this situation soon.  If I read correctly his family has Michigan ties which could help take pause before doing anything irrational.  Last resort is that he asks for a release from his intent.

In what alternate universe…

In what alternate universe was Bettis selected by the Steelers?  Also didn't Gholston get drafted in 2008?  This post confuses me.

It's a hell of a drug!

Thanks for posting.  I am…

Thanks for posting.  I am always impressed to watch how student athletes manage their schedule.  Kuddos to them.  Did I see correctly that this was A.J. Henning?

I agree with your thought,…

I agree with your thought, but do you think that they will stay in a bubble when they visit the towns the bowls are held in?  I remember watching members of basketball teams walk down Bourbon St. while visiting New Orleans during the NCAA tournament.  A lot of these players are human and may visit family members when in locations like Florida and unknowingly come in contact.  I also imagine a lot of possible draft prospects will sit out bowls this year.  It will be interesting to see how it plays out.

I'm excited for him and the…

I'm excited for him and the team.  Seems like a a passionate person, likable teammate, and talented player.  This will be a fun squad to watch this season.  We just need COVID to take a Xanax so we can enjoy it happen!

37 are scheduled, so I'm…

37 are scheduled, so I'm going to go with 32 as a guess.  My theory is that another one or two get cancelled by the sponsor and 3-4 due to safety concerns.  What says you?

Let me preface this by…

Let me preface this by acknowledging this will never happen because of money/contacts.  That being said, how cool would it be though on January 1st to stagger games every 30-45 minutes on the big four media networks and ESPN?  It would give several teams to have a window where several college football fans across the country could watch them for one day.  Not to mention the opportunity of having some very exciting outcomes to choose from.  It would be similar to the NCAA basketball tournament in that way.

"These young men are capable…

"These young men are capable of making their own decisions and should be more in control of their own bodies."

I can see it already.  "Bros vs. B1G Ten"

Thank you for that, I needed…

Thank you for that, I needed that laugh.  By all accounts was not only hitting his stride as an actor, but as a positive community member as well.  Cancer, COVID, and 2020 can go on screw itself.

What a cool idea on…

What a cool idea on celebrating Michigan football with your kids!  I tried to stay away from Notre Dame and Ohio State games for recommendations since most of us Michigan fans have a preference.

I don't recall Michigan games being played in my region until the early 90's.  So based on that, I would suggest the Penn St. game on October 15, 2005 (Week 7 I believe).  Let us know what schedule you end up going with. Avoid heartbreaking losses though...they never get easier to watch!

Oh Yeah

I bought those as soon as they were available.  I believe there was a #2 on the back as that was his number with the Wizards/Bullets.  Oddly enough I have a Nike postcard sporting Chris in a Michigan jersey advertising the shoes on the back.  When I learn how to operate the site better I will upload it.  It should be a good conversation topic. #jonoliver

Are you sure?

Only reason I say that is that it looks like Fitz Toussaint commented on the post and it reads otherwise.

Not knowing what is appropriate now

I highly suggest Brandi Chastain celebrating victory as any future triumph.  Unless that's to inappropriate as well?  If so, maybe just Denard rocking out at Crisler?

Good looking out

I know how to search Google, thanks for the tip (no pun intended).   I'm in the "high paying" field of social work so pardon me for not knowing such things in this arena.

Don't blame Brian at all after better understanding this.  Poor Carlos

The Renaissance Period

I'm really not sure what to make of this.  Where does this stem from?  It's Brian's site, so unless this is what he ultimately wants, how does Google tell him how to run his site?

I like it

Can we get Desmond doing a Heisman pose on the other side?

Threat Level Midnight

My level of anticipation is nearing this.

Good points

Howeva I'm not worried about Sparty fans.  It will be nice seeing some high caliber recruits put our had on the table and give Michigan a shot on national television.  This is good for 2016 and beyond.

Just wanna check

Is there really too much?  I'll drive from Missouri and celebrate with you if we land Iman.

Oh my

The color coordination is beautiful.  She look's amaizing too.

Hmmm

I couldn't find anything Michigan football related on this "pornhub" thing.  But I sure had fun.

To an extent I agree

You are correct in them losing market share to microbrews, but honestly they typically purchase the ones that can be profitable; this can be In-Bev, SAB, or Molson. What in my opinion has killed these companies are the wine/spirit market.  Also the margin of price increase during the past 15 years has made beer almost unaffordable to most common people.  It was a lot easier to justify buying a 12 pack of Budweiser or Coors for $7.00 at that time.  Why do that when you can buy a cheap bourbon or wine two times a weeks for an extra couple of bucks.

I'm going to avoid touching on the Michigan part of this, just b/c I don't want to consider it as a brand.  I get the analogy though.

Beer

I know many of you enjoy craft brews around here, but I enjoyed the Budweiser commercial mocking that.

Yawn

You sure are right about Hoke and signing day.  None of us ever watched the Malik show play out.  Convient argument though.

Would love Marshall

However, if we can pull Arnette this late in the game I will be a happy camper with that as well.

Not sound reasoning here

Listen a recruit is going to choose a school and coach he feels most comfortable with.  Weber was comfortable with Michigan before before the wheels fell off.  Ohio made it's move while we were vulnerable, that's it.  They are always going to get their own share of great recruits just like we will.  Just be honest with yourself, you didn't want Ohio to win.

Auburn

Is anyone else a bit surprised they didn't make the cut?  At this point; my feeling it's us and the Tarheels.  Go good guys!
