I'm really excited about Hudson. Very good athlete, and long. 3 different coaches raved about him last fall, and as a top 200 DL , everyone said his higher upside is at OT. Michigan could have a top 100 / 150 LT on its roster

It would have been about as difficult for us to pull that kid away from TX as it would TX pulling a Cass Tech grad from WMU away from us in their grad transfer year.  In both cases the players more than likely wanted to go to the premier school in their state and finally have a chance. His contacts prior to age 21 were forged and are still in TX and he just multiplied those greatly. Good move on the kid's part.

We don't have to get down on any members of our staff and actually should be happy they, at least, gave an effort to building depth in this manner.  We've got talent on the OL and it can't stay down forever. We made great strides the minute Harbaugh took over and we've made strides each year with last season almost being inevitable, considering the youth on this team. We still managed to pull out 8 victorties and w/luck could have ended with double digits. Luck will not always swing against us. That's not the way it works.

Hell, I like this team next year. The backs have been around for awhile, the line not that much less and the receivers, although still yhoung, received valuable time. Gentry and DPJ will look like all BIG next season and Black already did. Hell, this team's ready to roll. Hop on board and get excited for and after this bb tournery run.  GO BLUE!!!!

I am believer in Ed Warinner.  He has been a very good college OL coach at multiple schools.  Besides OSU, he did a good job at ND. By his second year, ND's OL we pretty good.  Of course his OL was very good at OSU.  In his last year, he had only one starter back and the team still finished top 10 in rushing.  Having Ezekiel Elliot was a big help, but still needed an OL to open the holes.  Even in Kansas, a team that won only 4 games in 2004, he had a 1,000 yard runner and team averaged 4.1 YPC.

I see this year's OL play to be as good if not better than the OL of the last year of RR.

I find it ironic that we continue to believe that Michigan coaches know anything about the O-line. They have flopped on every single big recruiting battle at the position, and the play by it has been abysmal. We could get the best 5 lineman recruiting wise and I wouldn’t trust them till I saw them play.

The only thing that worries me a little with Warinner’s track record is that his two most successful stops did not really stop producing after he left. Notre Dame if anything had even better O-Line play with Harry Hiestand after Warinner, and Ohio State hasn’t really missed a beat with Greg Studwara. No doubt that Warinner is an upgrade over Drevno, but I also wonder how much being in those specific offensive systems/culture magnified his coaching prowess.

But it requires talented players to put together a squad like he had at OSU (and Ezekiel Elliott didn't hurt either). I think we'll see an upgrade in line play but I'm tempering expectations until we see them play.

until RR got here and put Frey on the staff. Of the many problems his teams had, the OL was far from the worst. Literally the only "over-hyped" OL coach we've had who appeared to fall significantly short of the hype is Drevno.

All the man has done is win 8-10 games, finish third or worse, and contribute to our fan bases issues of blaming the refs and making excuses in general. At what point do you want the man to show up and win the BIG like everyone thought he would?

Texas native transfers from one Texas school to another. School 1400 miles away never really an option, a shock to some. News at 11. Michigan will be fine. The track record of guys leaving schools as a graduate offensive linemen is not one full of success. There are left tackles, better left tackles even, on the roster now.

I think they'll be ok. There should be enough guys currently on the roster to produce. However at least one guy is going to have go step up and take over a spot. I wasn't confident that Drevno could make this happen. I think Warriner may be able to get results.

If anyone here did not see that coming they are delusional. No way the kid was leaving Texas. Local stations in Austin have been reporting he was a lock for the shorthorns the last 2 months. Move on, nothing to see here.

I just don't get why 5* tackles aren't lining up to play here. They could be a true frosh starting LT for Michigan! With Jim Harbaugh! But they'd rather go be backups for 3 years in the SEC.. Not really related to this signing as Texas needed an OT as bad as we did, but in general. Sucks losing on so many top linemen.

There aren’t really a lot of 5 star tackles out there. And the one’s that do exist grew up in Florida, Georgia, or Texas and have 30+ offers as a sophomore in high school. It’s not easy when Nick Saban, Kirby Smart, and Herman are these kids’ doors and ask them to play for their childhood dream school.

Simple. We have major questions at LT and there was nothing to lose. He's an experienced LT who has played. If he had won the position battle, great. If not, then someone beat him out. Not having him only gives the staff one less option at LT.
