Jerry Rice ran a 4.45

Larry Fitzgerald didn't run at  the combine - but ran a 4.47 at his pro day.

Cris Carter ran 4.63

Anquan Boldin ran 4.59 at his pro day.

Hines Ward ran 4.55

I expect Nico will be a low 4.6x guy

The data suggests he might be an anomaly that scouts won't be able to figure out.  The data might be wrong, because college =/= NFL.  But what the data says is his jump ball skills are off the charts.  He's not merely a jump ball type receiver.  He is, potentially, the pinnacle of that kind of player.  He draws panic DPIs at double the rate of the best receivers in the country, and leads receivers in contested catch rate by an absurd margin.

If that doesn't translate to the NFL then he won't have much of a career, and maybe this is how folks convinced him to return.  But if it does, we're not looking at a conventional football player for which an NFL-equivalent of YMRFSPA applies.  We're looking at a bona fide NFL playmaker.  That Michigan didn't throw to.

I mean, I don't know.  We're forced to extrapolate.  The NFL is a world of its own where all kinds of Heisman winners washed out because their college-breaking skills didn't translate.  But again, I don't think I've seen numbers like this, ever.  Other college receivers with his size aren't getting per-target numbers anywhere close to his, that are only pedestrian in aggregate because of Shea Patterson.  It all comes down to whether or not this data means anything. He'll either hang around practice squads for a few years and fade away, or there's a slim chance he could be destined for the HoF and the biggest steal of next year's draft if he's anything other than the #1 pick.  Strangely, I think the least likely scenario is that he's average, because NFL corners will either shut him down or they won't.

It's gonna be tough sledding

No game is unwinnable besides OSU but holding serve at home with PSU and Wisconsin is essential as well as winning at Minnesota

Big make or break year. Can we win tricky road games (Washington, Minnesota) that we have a history of losing under Harbaugh or does the whole thing collapse and we can't even win home games against teams we've had no issue with at home (Wisconsin, Penn State)

Will be a massive year in terms of stakes

I can see anywhere from 11-1 (OSU autoloss) to 6-6 wheels falling off (Washington, Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, MSU, OSU)

Genuine question and not a troll job with this. You seem like an insistent Harbaugh defender. Just curious, is there anything with him and the team you currently aren't happy with? Again, it seems like I only ever see you defending Harbaugh and while I think he gets a raw deal from many of the fans and media, but, just my opinion here, it almost seems as though you think everything is on schedule. Curious what you're seeing that many of us aren't.

LETS GO!! Nico has always struck me as a team-first guy. I was surprised back when there was a rumor that receivers would be sitting due to attitude issues and multiple posters thought it was implying Nico rather than some of the other guys that clearly weren't giving 100%. If Ambry stays and McCaffrey is accurate downfield we could definitely have the advantage in all but 1 game next year.

Nico, Bell, Jackson, and Sainristil will make a pretty dangerous top four IMO. Throw in the elite speed of Henning and you have a great mix of different types of receivers.

You know who I see a lot of Nico in? Mike Williams from Clemson’s national championship team a few years back. Big body, great at high pointing and just winning 50/50 balls at a much higher than a 50% clip.

Nico outside, Bell outside, Sainristil and Giles in the slot. Eubanks and All finding holes in the zone. Evans out of the backfield. Just need a QB

This was the ONE guy i thought would be key to the offense having a big year next year. This dude is going to have a monster year with mcaffrey.  Cannot wait to see what he does next year.
