Risk the Jets take Mayfield or the Giants trade down. They couldn’t know for sure. Barkley also let it be known he didn’t want to go to Cleveland so maybe that weighed in on their decision making.

Why did the Bills even need to trade up 5 spots for a QB? TB doesn't need a QB, Chi took one last year, SF and Oakland also don't need QBs. Maybe Miami grabs one but that would only be one spot ahead of them.

Smart move by the Bucs. Get two additional second round picks they desperately need and they’re still going to get either Minkah Fitzpatrick or Derwin James. Two guys that should’ve been their choice at 7 anyway.

I don’t understand the pick. I really don’t. I know football starts all up front, but you’re going against Drew Brees, Cam Newton and Matt Ryan six times a year, and the Bucs get jail-sexed against those guys for ~300 yards a game every single time.

TB’s secondary is made up of draft busts (Hargreaves), players well past their prime (Brent Grimes), and guys who have no business starting on any NFL roster (Chris Conte - if you don’t know who he is, that’s the point).

I don’t doubt Vea’s ability, but the Bucs had far bigger needs. They already grabbed JPP in free agency so the DL wasn’t a priority. It’s going to be another year of target practice for the rest of the NFC South.

I think you kind of answered your own question. New Orleans is now primarily a running team, Carolina has always been a running tram, and Atlanta has two really good backs. Those are the 5th, 4th, and 12yh best rushing teams of 2017, respectively. They have good QBs, too, but if they can’t stop those teams from running, they have no hope at all.

I agree in that you need to be able to stop the run, but they already had addressed the DL via free agency. Pairing JPP alongside Gerald McCoy is a huge upgrade. But they did nothing to address their biggest weakness, a 32nd ranked pass defense. They picked for luxury vs. need last night.

And Brees, Ryan and Newton aren’t just good QBs. One is a bonafide HoF QB (Brees), and the other two are making cases to be included one day.

I’m sure they’ll go for addressing their secondary in Day 2, but passing on Derwin James was a huge missed opportunity.

Doesn't appear that you contribute much more than ad hominem punches aimed at people that you disagree with. That cool with me though because this is a message board. Also noticed that you seem to be easily triggered by comments that you consider to be vaguely political.

but not those who post junk.  as an example, i made an account at 11W last year to pay my respects to coach bruce and his announced illness.  visited again last week for his passing.  i wouldn't think of going over there to light people up or post babble.  there are some buckeyes who post here who seem like really good dudes.   there's at least one PSU guy, the same.  maybe you could/should follow their example.  or get a new hobby.

a.  that's not what i wrote.

b.  unless you're in 4th grade, there is a humorous context to what i did write

c.  not trying to banish you, probably couldn't even if i wanted to.  but, i am trying help you actually contribute to the board.  a lot of very cool people read and post here, myself excepted.  the ones i've met have been a genuine pleasure to get to know.  that said, you keep trolling, you'll be banned soon enough.  for all i know you're a 15 yr old living in livonia, pretending to be an ohio fan.  be that as it may, if you're going to spend time here maybe you ought to try doing that in a positive fashion.  i think i saw a regular type post from you further down in this thread, so you know how to do that.  suggest you make that the norm, not the exception.

The draft is pointing out that while the offensive line is obviously important, the QB is much more important. Notre Dame didn’t do much with two linemen drafted in the top nine.

It’ll be interesting if Ole Miss tries to claim Patterson as their own for next year’s draft like NC State tries to be associated with Russell Wilson. He’s ours now!

Saints taking Davenport is risky.

Trading away a future 1st to get him is even more risky.
