NCAA Tournament Round 2--Syracuse/Sparty open thread
I don't recognize the sport being played right now
His offenses are not at all pretty. But he can retire when he feels like it.
Syracuse really has a terrible offense. Tyus probably should have just stuck with Michigan. The officials just screwed Cuse right there.
I think Syracuse wins this. It makes no sense to predict that, but it makes no sense that they're in the game at all.
What a stupid play.
soft ass call for the 5th foul
But I have no sympathy for a player who runs underneath somebody that's in the air.
How close the Cuse is despite the poor officiating and (hence) foul problems. This could actually be funny. Don't see how state will even compete with Duke.
Cuse bigs are so bad on offense.
Can't even look the wrong way at a Sparty player or they get called a foul
I don't know if I have ever seen a team as offensively inept as Syracuse
If you take offensive rebounding out of the equation, the guys on the other bench are almost as bad--they're just throwing it at the basket and attacking the glass.
When you've got more offensive rebounds than made baskets, something's not right.
Hey, this is Syracuse basketball under the ancien régime of Jim Boeheim. They win with their fluke defense--Boeheim bases his recruiting on how effective they can run that defense. Generally that gets them to 1st round exit territory...just enough for Boeheim to justify his continued existance there. Every once in while, Boeheim will land a creative genius on offense, Pearl Washington or Carmelo Anthony, who can effectively freelance. But if not, it's this. I used to curse that program for recruiting the cream of New York City talent and squandering it. Unlike Beinlein, Boeheim's players never develop new skills, never look better coming out than going in. They are masters of the 2-3 match-up zone though.
That, and he spends well on the free agent market.
lol cuse with chance to take lead
Defense--look at that score.
How does Cuse lead this game?
I love how broke McQueff is this game
40 minutes of unnecessary roughness
I know it can be a little tricky to box out in a zone, but good grief. Every missed MSU shot is like a volleyball game.
A bit reminiscent of the early Beilein teams here, with Novak trying to get rebounds against the sparty mammoths
looked like a foul on Sparty on that loose ball
All ya gotta do:
WIN
THE
GAME
that's our thing.
Izzo just doesn't have his fastball anymore. I don't know how else you can play so poorly with THAT much talent on the team.
I just wonder what Beilein could've done with that squad.
39-0. Well, probably not because of early season growing pains. But maybe.
people have raved about this talent level for over a year now, and I'm not convinced they're all that. They've largely lost to the good teams they've played this year, and stuggled against some weaker teams. Hard to see how they have not just run 'Cuse off the floor. If Izzo is to get criticized, it should be for totally playing the 'Cuse's strengths.
"Cuse ball.
Ha, whatever.
Cuse ball
