Sharing Trolls Counts as Trolling: Sometimes desperately lazy outlets hire trolls, or trolls who are good at social media build enough of a following, that they become a headache for us, spreading hate or falsehoods. Because having them repeated on our site can directly harm us, if you're on the message board you should be aware that posting something from them could get you banned. They are:
- SirYacht/Chat Sports/James Yoder - Fake news merchant who likes to make up plausible rumors or report non-sure things to get a false scoop.
- Any local Spartan media when they talk about Michigan. Unless they're yelling "MAKE PLAYS!"
- Rainer Sabin: Finebaum wannabe hired by the Freep to troll Michigan fans.
- Tony Garcia: Same deal. Sparty the Freep hired to be a troll. If he's posting news you can probably find the same from Angelique and others.
- Steve Deace: Curiously well-funded white supremacist radio host who's got such a small Michigan following you can safely assume anyone posting positively about him is Deace and ban him again. Creates lots of burner accounts to promote himself. Booted by Maven for advocating lynching.
- Barstool: People who took the freedom of young internet too seriously because really what they wanted to do the whole time was propagate bad ideas. This one's a soft ban. No beef, but we are on opposite ends of the fan vibe, so if it's being posted there it's unlikely to be welcome here and vice versa.

Seth has never had a no religion rule. The MK comment appears to be gone, but it didn’t strike me as something that should be deleted. He had a point of view, the majority disagreed with him and downvoted accordingly.

The long and the short of it is this - while it's cool that you have such strong convictions, nobody is coming here for them and not everyone wants to see things interpreted in religious or ecclesiastical terms, especially on a sports blog where there is no reason for you to do that.
Perhaps you had benign intent, but random, needless proselytizing is difficult to interpret as entirely benign and indeed it can be - and was, in this case - rather divisive. Most everyone here is more or less united in their affection for Michigan athletics and sports in general, certainly not in their worldview, as we're seen numerous times.

I disagree, respectfully. Geopolitics are in a much different category than many less significant topics.
OT: 20 Days in Mariupol (free, no ads, legal... so the world can see for itself)
First and foremost, crg is correct - while this is a difficult watch, it is a must-see documentary.
That said, the pro-Putin people are already trolling the thread, so to head off further descent, I am removing it.
All THAT said, if you care at all about the inhumanity of the situation, watch this documentary.

And I would highly recommend that you add some commentary to your next opening post. OPs that include nothing other than a link tend to get ripped into, and rightfully so in most cases.

Update on the "Saban comments on the state of college sports" thread:
I removed the Barstool link . As many on the MGoBoard may have noticed already, Seth now describes the barstool situation as a "soft ban":

This being the case, links to barstool will continue to be removed and (whenever possible) replaced by links to legitimate sources. OTOH, you likely won't be banned for posting barstool links unless it becomes an issue.
In this particular case, I randomly chose the CNN link. So if you're posting an OP and have your own preference for one media source over another, then please take the time to post that particular link.
There's a reason we don't allow the message board to be used as kiosk. I recognize the board is a community, and that people want to ask the community for help in times of need. But I cannot confirm that need for everyone, and if we don't regulate this it's going to overwhelm the board.

Don't know how I missed Salvatore's post but thank you for posting it here. Both users are good gents and I'm glad the mgoboard could chip in to help.

I'd like an explanation why my lighthearted joke about us "landing on the moon for real this time" was removed. It's a fun/silly conspiracy theory and the real footage being erased by NASA is true and an interesting fact. Plenty of mean spirited comments to other posters did not get removed.
Admittedly, when you delete certain comments, entire threads go away, and a few might have been collateral damage in my initial attempt at this. The tools given to us don't exactly allow for surgical strikes in threads, so if that was taken out in error, apologies. As everyone will note, I sort of gave up after a bit and locked it.
In any case, it's locked now.

Am I the only one having an issue posting to the board? I was trying to post a diary. Then I tried it as a Board topic. Both are giving me the error message:

You don't have permission to access this resource.
Update: I don't know what it is in the post that's causing the issue, but I eventually was able to post on the Board, though not in Diaries. And even to do that I had to copy/paste from my source document a little bit at a time.

Late-night spot-mopping on the board. This was posted first but then largely ignored in favor of the other board post re: the Hockey brackets.
The Warde apology/appreciation thread is a lousy one. It's just giving people more opportunity to shit on Warde. Do we really need more of that?
It's only lousy because angry posters made it so. The thread should exist, even if saddens us to see how many ungenerous, petulant folks populate this place.
Besides, Santa (North Pole version) will find it very useful for listmaking purposes come Christmas time.

Please take a look at Wendy's post on the 'Warde Defends' post, https://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/warde-comments-critics#comment-245290720 not because it is offensive, but because it is spot on. Is there any way to rein in the bigotry towards people's appearances? We don't tolerate bigotry in other forms, and this form should not be tolerated either, imo.
Kudos to you for pointing out Wendy's post and especially to Wendy for again pointing how wrong it is to attack Warde in such a way. Though it's a vocal minority who engage in such ad hominum attacks, let's strive for 100% of us to be better than to stoop to that level.
Thank you also to the Mod who took action/edited the OP to post the warning.
Common guys. X's April Fool's post was well done, funny and it's very presence would deter the countless other April Fool's posts that are now sure to be posted. Pulling it down, IMO, is going to turn out to be counterproductive (and no fun).

The best April Fools' message board posts have (1) a degree of plausibility and (2) legitimately make one go "oh shit!" for a minute, before the realization hits in.
