Michigan Stadium with a roof Concept

This is my last Minecraft concept of Michigan Stadium expanded. Thanks for all the support on these. It may not be by any means realistic, but I think it's pretty cool nontheless. Here is the link to the video:

Really well done! I like the way that the original stadium is incorporated into the framework of the new buildings. The design almost made it seem like Al Glick Fieldhouse. It does lose the stadium’s connection to the rest of the city though. You can’t see the campus sprawling behind it or any of Ann Arbor’s nature which is a shame.

On a side note, I faintly remember that there were talks of updating the scoreboards on the stadium. Does anyone know when that was supposed to happen? I’m assuming it will be pushed off now because of budget concerns from this year, but just asking for a timeline.

I honestly don’t think you realize how stupid this is. The players aren’t in a bubble. They have the same risk as all the other students. Also, they’re still under the same care they’ve been under all summer. Also, during the summer they had scant contact with other students so it was easy to control infections. Also, amateur athletes shouldn’t be playing a contact sport for your entertainment during a pandemic that requires social distancing. Notice that no other sports are playing. Are you in grade-school? Do you still need Such things explained to you? Stop being so selfish.

This is beautiful. The attention to detail is remarkable. It is also fitting that the stadium is completely empty on a beautiful day. It gives it a realistic 2020 feel.

Awesome job, and thank you for sharing!

will the roof keep the covid out?

interesting and detailed.  nice work.

i wonder though if sports attendance will have truly reached an apex and start down hill when things open up, never to return to the levels we've been accustomed to.  at least some programs, even big time programs, were experiencing drop offs in attendance.  even with the eventual passing of covid, will football/basketball/hockey experience somewhere between a slight to a catastrophic drop in attendance?

Had that very discussion last night with my OSU buddy who used to attend EVERY Buckeye game, home and away.

I told him I did the same thing for Michigan from 87 - 2014 but once I stopped, I really never looked back.  I'm asking myself the same thing about the Browns to be honest.  Not sure if or when ill go back and definitely not sure if I'm going to spend the huge dollars to be in one of the private clubs.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens.  I'll bet for every hard core "cant wait to get back in" fan there's a corresponding number of people like me who have found out watching games on TV is just fine and a shit-ton cheaper!

I'm thinking the same thing, at least about attending games.  Paying close to $300 per ticket times four after the mandatory donation and then losing to OSU by a large margin on a cold Saturday in late November is starting to lose its appeal. We might attend a few early season games that are inexpensive and comfortable and tickets can always be had at the last minute when one has a reasonably good idea of what the weather will be.

With multiple kids in multiple fall sports, I can't even watch games live unless they are a night game. And now I struggle to watch games live, as I hate to listen to a lot of the announcers and to sit through all the commercials.  I have been able to avoid most results before I watch too.  I still do enjoy going to a game if possible with my kids, but now have been spoiled with getting some club seats for a game from a supplier that makes it way more reasonable to take my younger kids.

Still special to go, but it is hard to argue that going and sitting on a bench, squeezed in, is better than watching in high definition.

It depends on what the AD’s and Conference leadership decide to focus on. If they prioritize the game day in stadium experience, you will see full stadiums. If they continue to cater everything to the TV audience you will see more people watching on TV. I think we all know they want their cake and eat it too so I expect we will get some horrific hybrid which ruins both experiences.

That is absolutely fantastic! I'm not a mine craft player so I don't know how you actually build something like that within the game but absolutely amazing. Would have also been cool to see what it looks like with the lights on.

It looks nice, but I am not an in door football fan. Maybe I am showing my age and this will be the way of the future. I think of Syracuse, Atlanta and Indy and none of those come close to outdoor football. Just my opinion.

Given the $100M shortfall in the Athletic budget this year and 21 layoffs, it appears that the "arms race" has really cooled off. Unless Mr Glick and Mr Ross cough up another few hundred million bucks, it won't happen.

Congrats—I know literally zero about Minecraft, but it looks like you've mastered the app and no doubt you've put in quite a bit of time and effort getting to the fluency you display in it.

That said, indoor football is an abomination and putting any kind of roof on Michigan Stadium is a horrible idea.

Looks awesome! The attention to detail is great. The outside and roof do remind me of Lucas Oil in Indianapolis, which I like. This would be pretty great to have available for games during Michigan falls and winters.

Football was meant to be played in under roofs where the only light is florescent and the only breeze from giant, expensive air conditioning units.  What is better on a lovely autumn day than to go inside for a few hours?  Also, when the weather is so bad people would be happier inside, since they didn't have to ever encounter the weather to get to the dome.

(Hint: My favorite game ever attended was against Purdue in 1995)

Scrap the roof option. Michigan football is meant to be played in all type of weather.  We are not afraid to get wet, have snow fall on us, or to be cold!
