I started getting a twinge of BPONE (hello darkness my old friend) when Clink left.  But the hires since then, especially Scruggs, BJM, and now Adegoke have made me a lot more optimistic again.

A nice pickup.  Another young guy with good bonafides.

Glad to see all the hand-wringing about how Moore and UM were definitely going to screw this up has mostly proven to be standard-issue complaints and not reality.

I was really pulling for Corey Parker.

He gave a phenomenal presentation at the clinic in Lansing. I had my outspoken reservations about him when he was at River Rouge, but he is the real deal and it is showing at the college level. That is nothing against Adegoke, who may be just as good or better, but I think we missed out on a potential fast riser in the coaching ranks in Parker.

Besides Head Coach, is it possible this staff could be overall better than the previous one.  I know it sucked to lose so many of our coaches, but our previous staff was not lighting the recruiting trail on fire.  I realize this new staff does not have a lot/if any recruiting experience, but they seem to be a young crew which usually bodes well for recruiting. I think if we could have kept Herbert, Sherrone would be getting at least an A- for grades on his coaching hires.  Go Blue!

My friends, it all comes down to what WB will use the April portal to be out QB1.

At least one internet blogger thought Dante Moore should take advantage of the unlimited-xfer rule, given that he is Oregon QB2 right now, and return home.  I am not sure that gets us where we need to go. But the point is, we have no idea who is could be, hell Sherrone might have no idea right now.

Did that internet blogger even watch a UCLA game last year?  I get the fascination with stars, and he could still end up as a great college quarterback.  But what he did last year does not make me feel like he is someone who's going to come in and be better than what we already have.  What I saw lat year makes me feel like that would be a step in the wrong direction.

I can't understand the "not lighting the recruiting trail on fire" mindset when we have 18 combine invites...maybe the recruiting sites are wrong? Because our coaches targeted the kids they wanted and got them, maybe not the kids the sites had at the top but the sites got it wrong, not the coaches.

The sites should do a re-ranking of classes after 4 years..if they did, we lit the recruiting trail on fire.

The current combine invitees started college in 2021 or earlier, which meant they were recruited by a pretty different staff than Michigan had this year. The staff we've had since then has been unreal at developing talent, but it's disingenuous to judge their recruiting ability by guys they largely didn't recruit.

During this run, we were recruiting (and signing) a bunch of players that developed into NFL players. I hope we keep doing that.

I don't want to see us investing time and effort into recruiting the top guys only to see them go to schools that pay incoming recruits NIL. We're better off finding the dudes who love the football grind, have leadership potential, and want to be at Michigan. That's what has worked and will work in the future.

Is he supposed to be a good coach? Not being snarky, legitimately asking.

I know the Big XII isn't known really for playing defense and maybe he's a really good recruiter, but isn't the last we saw of Texas' secondary as getting absolutely torched by Washington in the CFP?

Edit: Ack, never mind. I'm dumb. Read "Texan's Safety Coach" as "Texas' Safeties Coach." Neg away, friends.

When we hired Wink, I wanted the defensive position coaches to be young, up and comers who can recruit.  Based on limited information, Adegoke is a young, well thought of coach. He should be able to recruit but we'll see. No complaints

Give Sherrone a chance remember it took Jim what 6 years before he put together a great staff before that they were average. Sherrone is doing his homework.

The hires all seem solid. But I think it’s hilarious to say, do you think it’s an improvement on tbh prior staff because of recruiting? Lolz.

Michigan just won the national championship with a generational defense and went 40-3 over a three year period and are putting a ton of guys in the NFL. Lolz. But he got a higher four star may not be an upgrade
