Rumor is that he's having some family adversity right now that makes the Miami NIL money more important, so I guess I can understand the flip

Isnt the scuttlebutt that Michigan will hep facilitate things but theyre not going to hand you a million bucks for your NLI? If Collins needs money for his family now then I wont fault him for taking a big signing bonus to go to Miami, but I hope he doesnt regret it as he’s stuck playing for a washed program while Michigan keeps winning and putting DEs into the NFL

Being able to outpay them and being willing to do so are two entirely different things. Michigan has made it crystal clear that they have zero intention on buying recruits. Players will have ample opportunity to make money once they arrive and start performing, but Michigan isn’t going to guarantee money to high school kids that haven’t stepped foot on campus.

Too bad. He's a highly ranked recruit with, seemingly, lots of upside.

Let's assume that Michigan gets ramped up with NIL. (It doesn't seem like they're there yet.) If they want to avoid giving $ up front, I'm OK with that. It will result in some recruiting losses but might be better culturally.

Improving that NIL program has got to be a priority this offseason. This is by all accounts a good kid who isn't just in it for the money but because we are quite far behind on the NIL front, we won't get him.

Again, is there actual evidence that Michigan is losing kids to NIL deals that aren't of the "we'll give you a bag of cash and promise of a starting sport if you sign" variety?  I don't blame a guy for wanting to take that money if he needs it but I feel like every year now we hear that UM is so far behind on the NIL front from fans and then you don't hear actual players or insiders really lament it too often.  And if that was the case then how did they close so well last year with a bunch of guys who I assume weren't being handed bags of cash in the last month of the year.

Sure, are some teams doing a better job of it?  Undoubtedly.  But the one semi-consistent drumbeat I've heard around recruiting from guys like Sam and others is that there are guys on the staff who...need to step up their recruiting game in terms of getting and retaining recruit interest, not necessarily just a pure dollars-and-cents issue.

After star gazing for many years, I now fully trust the coaches to identify and develop talent. Add in culture and coaching and it’s a great recipe.
I live in Florida and my kids go to a highschool who has a 5 star defensive end down to Georgia and OSU. Is he good? Yes. Does he dominate games? No.

The ratings are just one aspect of the final result. Translation, we will get another defensive end and all will be well!!!

Well that's a bummer. I would think that any DE/Edge prospect would be dying to come here since we've managed to produce so many productive players. We've had 3 1st round picks in the last 3 years I think.

Honestly who wants to go play for Miami. Trash program with no fans. If you need money then whatever but you’re gonna have bad coaching on bad teams
