I know people are gonna rip him in these comments, but I'm gonna miss writing (basketball especially). Not sure who's gonna replace him on that front

Seth has taken over the football recruiting posts and Matt EM handles basketball recruiting and tactics pretty well.  Matt in particular writes A LOT more recruiting content than Ace ever did, though it helps to be as connected to that world as Matt is.  Brian covers a bit of everything with his own personality.

It's a bit harsh, and probably unnecessary, but I've personally felt that Ace has been a bit redundant ever since Matt EM started becoming a regular contributor.

Regardless, he's got talent and a good head for sports on his shoulders.  I wish him the best in his future endeavors.

Thank you for your contributions Ace.

Brian and Seth, I really respect you guys for the way you run this website. Keep up your great work!

I thought Ace’s game coverage was excellent, and how was the perfect compliment to Brian on the podcast. I realize he could be prickly and sometimes maybe overreacted (though I don’t object to his nuking of idiots spouting dangerous misinformation or lies.) He also had major health issues. All in all, this a net loss for the blog.

First of all, gratitude - thanks, Ace! You've done a great job. Secondly, all the best going forwards and in finding your path. And finally, in a nod to your previous incarnation

Huh. I know I miss a lot of the worst of this. I simply don't read the threads or pieces of threads that get mean, I don't read Twitter and I've long since realized that politically motivated online arguments are not only pointless, but are furthering the already frightening divides in our country. I always regret it when I waste an hour getting bogged down in these arguments.

So I'm quite sorry to read about this because his sports knowledge is part of what makes this site so good. I wish the rest of it would stick to Twitter or Reddit or the cable "news" networks that propagate this concept that one set of narrow viewpoints is any more noble than another set.

Be kinder, learn to think about issues from many perspectives, try not to get so angry in a tiny, self-important world where nuance is perceived as weakness and opinions cannot be expressed in more than 280 characters.

I wish Ace the best. Mostly relief from his medical issues - having lived a similar, but different life, I certainly empathize with these challenges.

Ace, thanks for your *tremendously entertaining and informative* writing over the years.

Wishing you the best in your next endeavor. When you figure out what that looks like, please let us know. :)

Best of luck Ace. Many, many years of great front page content and MGoPodcast analysis-- a good complement to Brian for all those years.

Thanks for all of the great articles, Ace.  You are a phenomenal writer and storyteller.  Although I never cared for the social or political undertone in some of your writings, I respected that you were allowed to have a different opinion.  I wish you nothing but the best of luck in the future.

I am definitely bummed to hear this news. I will miss his writing and analysis, as others have mentioned.

Good luck, man, and let us know where you land next so we can read that site or those articles as well as they have been a pleasure to read here.

Although I thought the way Ace treated people he disagreed with politically was nasty and showed poor character, he was a very good writer and I'll miss his work on the blog.

I hope one day he learns to understand that people, including his own self, are complex and can have good and bad and things you like and things you don't like, and that's OK.

I agree.  I had big issues with the guy, and his hot garbage politics, but I can only wish him the best of luck going forward.  Hopefully, he will land on his feet somewhere and keep writing good sports related articles.  Best of luck, but I won't miss him too much.

No shit.  That is some epic delusion there.  Most people are ready to throw our history (and our identity along with it) into the trash can.  It says a lot that most people are ready to throw the face of our program for the past 50 years under the bus.

I am on record as saying Ace probably should part ways with Mgoblog and it seems that the Sam workplace harassment ultimately led to his departure (probably?).

I appreciated Ace's command of hoops data, and ESPECIALLY, his advocacy for women's basketball on this blog. He is single-handedly responsible for me tuning in to that team.

Also thought "Countless" was his magnum opus and a great last post. Best wishes to the man.

There was a WTKA roundtable episode that really got under Ace’s skin and he took to Twitter and got into some back and forth with both Sam and Craig.  It was not a particularly good look but, Ace feels very strongly about his opinions and, quality or fault, does not hesitate to defend those opinions.

Well now that his mediocre writing and analysis is out of the way (not to mention the self-righteous brand of liberalism that got Trump elected) can we bring back Tim and TomVH?

Ace wasn’t too tolerant of views other than his own (see his Twitter) but he was totally committed to M sports. When we suffered, he suffered and his writing demonstrated it. When we were thrilled with M sport’s success, he was to.
Good luck Ace. I hope you let us know where you’re at and what you’re up to!
