Men’s Hoops: Michigan @ Maryland - game thread

Last two games we played well with the double bigs lineup.  Nice job not playing that tonight, Juwan.  Let them get overconfident.  Brilliant!

I'm actually surprised we're hanging around. Hopefully that's a good thing. Need some stops and defensive rebounds!

How was Hunter so much better so much younger than he is today.

The refs suck, too.

The refs are trying to foul out the entire Michigan team by halftime.  We are not allowed to play any defense at all.

Lot of freshman shit in this game.

Awful possessions after getting back in the game.

This is a make or break off-season for Juwan.  Time to clean house with this staff and get this team right. 

Have they mentioned why Jace isn't playing?

Amazing that we are only down 4. Rebound the ball and play better defense and we can win this.

It feels like the only shots Michigan can make are 3s. Luckily they’re making a lot of them right now. Don’t know how sustainable that is. Hopefully they can keep it within 2 possessions before the half and figure something out before the 2nd half.

I'm glad the offense is picking up. We just need to really limit them on the boards and the possessions should level out. If that happens, we are the better team, and can hopefully pull it out.

There have been quite a few ticky tacky fouls on us while it seems that Maryland can get away with murder 

5-/11 from three point range is keeping us in this game.

Feels like Michigan is usually on the other end of this completely outplaying the other team but it is still a game because of 3 point shooting 

At least we have Paul Szelc to keep this game under control!

What was that foul? They didn’t have any to give!

It feels like we should be down 20, not 2.  But we'll take it.

Just as I'm about to type 'what an incredible 1H finish', silly foul 30ft from the bucket.

Still, quite the improvement since the under-8.

Guess we didn’t learn from the idiotic foul under 1 second from the other game. 

That might have been the worst played half by a Michigan PG in over 15 years, but somehow we’re only down 2.

I know they're leading by 2, but this has to be a tad deflating for the Terps. They had a 13 point lead, were in the penalty, and had momentum. Then Michigan hit about 5 threes, and now it's anyone's game.

With as bad as a 1st half we played on defense, being down 2 is great.

Ten offensive rebounds and 0 of 2 from the FT line (from not attacking the rim) is the real difference tonight so far. I was always taught rebounding is about effort, but these guys seem never to look for a opposite jersey to check and block out. Almost like they ball watch. 

How is the foul situation?  

Refs have let Maryland get away with a lot of muggings.

OT: for those visiting College Park, Ledo's is a local institution.  Worth a trip IMO.

Oh back to not caring and not playing defense, greaaaaaaat.

Jett Howard might be the worst defender and rebounder who gets regular minutes in college basketball.  Those things are non-existent in his game.

I am once again asking for Williams to be benched.
