No transitive property in college football
If we struggle tomorrow, then you can worry
October 30th, 2020 at 10:47 PM ^
Disagree. This is clearly telling that Minnesota isn’t a top 25 (50?) team
October 30th, 2020 at 11:03 PM ^
Need more of a sample size than tonight
OSU couldn't stop Maryland for their life in 2018, easily should've lost. The next week? Absolutely shut us down in Columbus. Michigan went to OT against Army last year and then blew out ND on the same field weeks later. College football is the king of inconsistent play
Minnesota has a good offense and a shit defense, which will give you even more games of pure madness. Minnesota isn't great, but they're not gonna go winless or anything
October 30th, 2020 at 11:19 PM ^
They’ve played two games and given up almost 100 points. That’s enough sample size.
October 31st, 2020 at 12:52 AM ^
So you think Northwestern is better than Michigan?
October 31st, 2020 at 2:15 AM ^
That would take a game... and a few CoVid tests... who plays Illinois first... oh wait... nevermind... Wisconsin will do.
This year will never have an equal.
Oh wait...
October 31st, 2020 at 8:09 AM ^
No, I think it's clear Minnesota is pretty shitty on defense and all of the praise we heaped on Milton and the offense should probably be looked at in a much different light now considering Maryland played a lot better as a whole offensively than Michigan did.
October 31st, 2020 at 8:25 AM ^
Define “a lot better,” please. Michigan’s O had 42 points a few minutes into the fourth Q (and had three missed FGs). Maryland’s O had 45 in an OT game.
October 31st, 2020 at 8:53 AM ^
And we could've easily scored 70+.
However, I've been a little uneasy seeing so many people talk about how we're going to "beat down" MSU today. That would be great, I want that badly, my body is ready. But I just don't like seeing that kind of confidence after one game against a team missing several key players, and the first game of a weird ass season. I'm scarred, I've been a Michigan fan a long time.
I do not think we will lose, but I'm more apprehensive than most.
October 30th, 2020 at 11:08 PM ^
And a rotten Jim Harbaugh-lead Stanford beat a debatable all-time USC team in 200...7??! Its fucking college football, man. This shit happens bi-weekly. Transitive property really doesn't mean squat in this sport.
October 31st, 2020 at 1:10 AM ^
Both can be true
October 31st, 2020 at 9:08 AM ^
This is the correct answer. This blog message board blows this team up into giants after every win, in reality Michigan is a good team every year. That's it just good. Not top 5, or top 10. This is a top 18 to 10 team.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:44 PM ^
Covid makes the world weird, even football. Wouldn’t be surprised to see a 7-2 B1G champ
October 30th, 2020 at 10:52 PM ^
OSu is canceling their season? Nice!!
October 30th, 2020 at 11:25 PM ^
Has O$U even reported a covid case?
October 31st, 2020 at 5:13 AM ^
They won't...
October 31st, 2020 at 5:35 AM ^
They had 15 players out last week
October 31st, 2020 at 7:19 AM ^
I hear their AD and ASSociate AD have a lot of experience covering things up.
October 31st, 2020 at 12:43 AM ^
7-2 B1G Champ? OSU losing two games to who?
October 30th, 2020 at 10:45 PM ^
There's no "maybe" about it -- at least defensively.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:45 PM ^
Michigan did what it needed to do. Offense dominated.
Minnesota looks awful defensively.
Tomorrow will be heavier sledding obviously.
October 30th, 2020 at 11:30 PM ^
Almost 400 yards of passing at 11.3 yards per pass and 281 yards on 9.1 per carry for Maryland. That’s dominate.
Michigan was a notch below that on all fronts — 225 yds passing on 9 yards per attempt and 256 on the ground at 8.3 yards a carry.
October 31st, 2020 at 12:53 AM ^
The difference is we controlled the game from about mid first quarter on. We took what we needed and got out of there. You could clearly see us taking our foot off the gas in the second half. We should get a better test with the MSU defense tomorrow, but I think we will do pretty well.
October 31st, 2020 at 7:25 AM ^
I did not in any way see Michigan take their foot off the gas in the Minnesota game.
What are some specific, clear examples you can provide of how Michigan took their foot off the gas at any point in the second half before the last minute or two when Cade McNamara came in?
October 31st, 2020 at 10:15 AM ^
Specific examples: the variety of offensive playcalling. There was very little from Michigan, probably something like 9 or 10 base plays. They left a lot in the tank for later on.
October 31st, 2020 at 10:05 AM ^
You really don’t see the difference? Maryland had to make a 4Q comeback. We had complete control of the game from mid 2Q on. By no means was their offensive performance better than Michigan’s.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:47 PM ^
Maryland had 207 yards of offense against Northwestern last week. They've got 614 against Minnesota with a few minutes left in regulation tonight. Minnesota's defense is wet single-ply toilet paper.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:47 PM ^
This game may be coming down to Minnesota and their herniated FG kicker.
October 30th, 2020 at 11:10 PM ^
Called it!
October 30th, 2020 at 10:48 PM ^
The Big Ten in general sucks. We will beat upon lesser schools and then get beat upon by OSU.
OSU will then get destroyed by Clemson or Alabamba.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:51 PM ^
Lather, rinse, repeat...
October 30th, 2020 at 10:49 PM ^
Fleck turtled up. Maryland outplayed them though and should have never been down 17.
October 31st, 2020 at 12:03 AM ^
Still laughable people think Michigan should fire Harbaugh for that guy
October 31st, 2020 at 5:55 AM ^
OMG - are there really people that think that? Probably the same people that think the best QB we had is now at Illinois.
October 31st, 2020 at 12:56 AM ^
Turtled up against the Terps. You can't out turtle the turtles. Seems like a low IQ play by Fleck. In all seriousness, watching Minnesota slowly lose the lead reminded me of the Loins way too much.
October 31st, 2020 at 9:30 AM ^
Correct. Kept running ibrahim into a 9-man box late in the game. And I don't think Tanner ever ran the ball himself.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:49 PM ^
This game is on Fleck. What the fuck is this 2nd half play calling? Literally running straight into stacked boxes 80% of the time.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:53 PM ^
That last 3rd and 2 was especially bad. If Morgan keeps, that’s a first down.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:55 PM ^
Morgan has missed so many reads it has be intentional
October 30th, 2020 at 10:59 PM ^
WOTS is he played a ton of golf in the off season.
October 30th, 2020 at 11:13 PM ^
Too soon.
October 31st, 2020 at 8:52 AM ^
Some of their ZRs looked like Hoke zone reads. Either Morgan is terrible at them or they just switched to giving it to Ibrahim on a ZR look because there were several where a Morgan keeper was 15 easy yards
October 30th, 2020 at 10:54 PM ^
They had a chance to drive into field goal range with just over a minute on the clock and they're running into the line. Minnesota coaches deserve to lose.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:50 PM ^
They definitely suck.
This might be a blessing that this game is being played on Friday. You know our guys are watching it and thinking the same thing.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:54 PM ^
We knew this after last week.
October 30th, 2020 at 10:55 PM ^
Minnesota sucks in so many obvious ways
October 30th, 2020 at 10:55 PM ^
MN has the Shea Patterson Dilemma: what use is an RPO if your QB refuses to keep when the read is clearly to keep???
October 30th, 2020 at 11:49 PM ^
Exactly what I was thinking, why even run the play if your QB won't/can't/isn't allowed to keep? It ruins the entire point of that type of play. If Tanner Morgan isn't actually keeping on a read, then your offense is inherently limited as we all learned last year unfortunately
