Per the Detroit News:

...But the Big Ten athletic directors may consider tweaking the rule, particularly in light of Ohio State’s potential situation and also considering the Buckeyes are unbeaten and among the top-four teams in the CFP rankings that determine the four-team national playoff. During a conversation Wednesday with Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, who chaired the Big Ten’s return-to-play committee, he was asked if there has been any talk about trying to change the requirements.

“I would think that if something would happen to Ohio State and they’d have to cancel another game, that that’s something that we’ve got to revisit,” Alvarez told The Detroit News. “They’re sitting up there still ranked No. 4. Our league can’t keep them from having the opportunity if they have a chance to be in the finals.”

We call off the game, we don't call off the game.  It doesn't matter.  The B1G will put them in.  I'm sure of it.

Can’t tell if I’m happy we’re not going to get ass blasted for 100 points or sad since Harbaugh will probably keep his job now meaning we gotta deal with another year of this bullshit.

Football Game vs. Maryland Canceled as Michigan Pauses Practice Until Monday

12/2/2020 1:35:00 PM

// Dave Ablauf, Chad Shepard

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 2) that it has paused football practices and that Saturday's (Dec. 5) game against Maryland has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The decision to pause in-person football activities was made in consultation with medical professionals and the local health department.

"The decision by our medical professionals to stop practices and cancel this Saturday's game against Maryland was made with the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes, coaches and staff as our utmost priority," said Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. "We have seen an increase in the number of student-athletes unavailable to compete due to positive (COVID-19) tests and associated contact tracing due to our most recent antigen and PCR testing results."

Daily testing will continue and medical professionals will make a determination when to resume practice. The earliest practice can resume will be Monday (Dec. 7).

As long as they play OSU, there’s a chance that Harbaugh can get that final embarrassing loss that finally sends him to the shit abyss.

The shitabyss.

It likely won't matter because the committee won't keep an undefeated OSU out of the playoff. They're better than A&M and Cincinnati. The committee has been consistent on putting the 4 best teams in the country for the playoff, not the 4 most deserving teams. A&M might have a stronger case if they hadn't gotten blown out by Bama 52-24 and A&M got a garbage time TD to get to 24 points. Cincinnati isn't the best team in the state and would get their ass kicked by Bama.

We'll see.

You're right that A&M is probably out regardless, but Florida will have a very strong case to make if they acquit themselves well against Bama in the SEC title game. Like a one score, down to the final minutes kind of game. If Florida manages to win the SEC, then OSU would pretty much be out, because the committee is not going to leave Bama out. Not this year. Not when they've played more games, played a tougher schedule, and have looked more convincing. They'd grab that four seed and OSU would be on outside looking in.

As a fan who has no real say or investment in how the program performs, I hope they cancel the OSU game too. I would never expect a coach or a player to feel this way, and rightfully so, but from a fan’s perspective, Michigan can really expect nothing but pain and misery in that game. That is the kind of game that, this season, could set the program back 5 to 10 years just by itself. We would lose that badly.

That’s just the way it is. And honestly, I would love to see OSU get so royally fucked over, cheated out of a conference title, and a likely playoff berth. And should that happen, for any OSU fan who bitches and complains that Michigan backed out of the game, all you need to tell them is that if they took care of their own shit and played against Maryland and Illinois, they wouldn’t be in that situation.
