Oh gosh darnit...
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
It would be a bummer if OSU game was canceled too, eh?
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:04 PM ^
It won't. The universe simultaneously craves darkness and OSU in the playoff.

And lightness has a call that's hard to hear
And I wrap my fear around me like a blanket
I sailed my ship of safety 'til I sank it

If Michigan cancels early enough, the Big Ten will find a way to schedule someone to get Ohio State their sixth game.
December 2nd, 2020 at 8:20 PM ^
That’s fine as long as they don’t get a sixth win by pounding us
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:12 PM ^
I'd love it and mainly because of Buckeye nation pissing and moaning plus blaming Michigan.
December 2nd, 2020 at 8:13 PM ^
Per the Detroit News:
...But the Big Ten athletic directors may consider tweaking the rule, particularly in light of Ohio State’s potential situation and also considering the Buckeyes are unbeaten and among the top-four teams in the CFP rankings that determine the four-team national playoff. During a conversation Wednesday with Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez, who chaired the Big Ten’s return-to-play committee, he was asked if there has been any talk about trying to change the requirements.
“I would think that if something would happen to Ohio State and they’d have to cancel another game, that that’s something that we’ve got to revisit,” Alvarez told The Detroit News. “They’re sitting up there still ranked No. 4. Our league can’t keep them from having the opportunity if they have a chance to be in the finals.”
We call off the game, we don't call off the game. It doesn't matter. The B1G will put them in. I'm sure of it.

Can’t tell if I’m happy we’re not going to get ass blasted for 100 points or sad since Harbaugh will probably keep his job now meaning we gotta deal with another year of this bullshit.
December 2nd, 2020 at 3:33 PM ^
I am mad. This better not save Harbaugh. I gotta think it helps him by avoiding 2 more embarrassing losses. Each one the noise kept getting louder.
December 2nd, 2020 at 5:53 PM ^
If we shafted OSU like this, can anyone imagine the vengeance they would unleash upon us next year in Harbaugh's final game assuming he gets an extension. Highly bet they'd go for 100.
December 2nd, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
Weren't they gunning for 100 on us this year anyway? I mean, their coach said as much.

Football Game vs. Maryland Canceled as Michigan Pauses Practice Until Monday
12/2/2020 1:35:00 PM
// Dave Ablauf, Chad Shepard
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan Athletic Department announced today (Wednesday, Dec. 2) that it has paused football practices and that Saturday's (Dec. 5) game against Maryland has been canceled and will not be rescheduled. The decision to pause in-person football activities was made in consultation with medical professionals and the local health department.
"The decision by our medical professionals to stop practices and cancel this Saturday's game against Maryland was made with the health, safety and welfare of the student-athletes, coaches and staff as our utmost priority," said Warde Manuel, the Donald R. Shepherd Director of Athletics. "We have seen an increase in the number of student-athletes unavailable to compete due to positive (COVID-19) tests and associated contact tracing due to our most recent antigen and PCR testing results."
Daily testing will continue and medical professionals will make a determination when to resume practice. The earliest practice can resume will be Monday (Dec. 7).

Hopefully the OSU game too.

Take them down with us.

Yeah, but....
They are gonna bend over backwards for OSU, if need be.

Welp.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:42 PM ^
As long as they play OSU, there’s a chance that Harbaugh can get that final embarrassing loss that finally sends him to the shit abyss.
The shitabyss.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
But if we play OSU, they will have enough games to be eligible for the championship game, and by extension, the playoff.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:55 PM ^
It likely won't matter because the committee won't keep an undefeated OSU out of the playoff. They're better than A&M and Cincinnati. The committee has been consistent on putting the 4 best teams in the country for the playoff, not the 4 most deserving teams. A&M might have a stronger case if they hadn't gotten blown out by Bama 52-24 and A&M got a garbage time TD to get to 24 points. Cincinnati isn't the best team in the state and would get their ass kicked by Bama.
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:01 PM ^
We'll see.
You're right that A&M is probably out regardless, but Florida will have a very strong case to make if they acquit themselves well against Bama in the SEC title game. Like a one score, down to the final minutes kind of game. If Florida manages to win the SEC, then OSU would pretty much be out, because the committee is not going to leave Bama out. Not this year. Not when they've played more games, played a tougher schedule, and have looked more convincing. They'd grab that four seed and OSU would be on outside looking in.
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:14 PM ^
Florida would have no case at all if they lose to Bama.
They would have 2 losses and 1 of those would be to A&M.
This is assuming A&M wins out, of course
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:13 PM ^
Pull hard for Florida to beat ‘Bama in the SEC championship game; if it happens (and it could), the playoff committee will forget about OSU in favor of one-loss ‘Bama.
As is their wont.
December 2nd, 2020 at 3:34 PM ^
I disagree that OSU is one of the top teams. I am with Desmond Howard here
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:42 PM ^
Cancel all of college football.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:43 PM ^
This stinks. I thought we only had 1 case. Was that not true?
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:22 PM ^
I think once people started realizing next week's game could be canceled, they started passing around the used tissue so 1 case became something greater
December 2nd, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
is used tissue a white flag reference??
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:43 PM ^
Sucks for the players but I can't help but be a little happy about this.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:43 PM ^
Balas also quoting a source that says they believe next week is off too.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:57 PM ^
There is a GOD! (not named Jimmy)!
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:28 PM ^
Did we ever get confirmation of how many positive cases there were at OSU last week?
Because they're still on for MSU this weekend, so we'd have to be way over to get next week cancelled too.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:46 PM ^
As a fan who has no real say or investment in how the program performs, I hope they cancel the OSU game too. I would never expect a coach or a player to feel this way, and rightfully so, but from a fan’s perspective, Michigan can really expect nothing but pain and misery in that game. That is the kind of game that, this season, could set the program back 5 to 10 years just by itself. We would lose that badly.
That’s just the way it is. And honestly, I would love to see OSU get so royally fucked over, cheated out of a conference title, and a likely playoff berth. And should that happen, for any OSU fan who bitches and complains that Michigan backed out of the game, all you need to tell them is that if they took care of their own shit and played against Maryland and Illinois, they wouldn’t be in that situation.
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:05 PM ^
Am I missing something - or isn’t it still possible the MSU game is off? Haven’t even see anything confirming that’s on based on OSU sitting out last week...
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:16 PM ^
Maryland cancelled the OSU game and OSU was supposed to "take care of their own shit" to play? Interesting.
December 2nd, 2020 at 2:33 PM ^
I’d smile ear to MF ear if the OSU - Mich game being cancelled caused them to miss a championship.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:47 PM ^
I hope Brian releases the UFR on its normal schedule.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
Might as well shut it down, since the offense and defense have been shut down this year too.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:51 PM ^
How dare you omit special teams! They've been doing their part in being ass too.
December 2nd, 2020 at 1:48 PM ^
