Now it makes sense that Jim wasn't sure if he was wanted in AA. Seems Warde may have made it look that way if he hasn't spoken directly to him in 6+ months. I figured at worst they were arguing and fighting behind closed doors, but it looks like their relationship is worse then we thought. Santa coming down the chimney with a special review for Warde.

What do you consider "spoken directly "? They never discussed anything in relation to incidents in the tunnel? This doesn't sound plausible. Warde has to get a better PR team. We only hear  from Jim's PR team.

The more John says, the less he clearly knows. Kind of surprising for someone who works for the university and is viewed to be an insider. But he’s absolutely wrong here. Just like he’s been wrong quite a bit lately. Jim and Warde have talked numerous times. Maybe he worded it differently than he intended, but he’s absolutely wrong about them talking.

Yeah… there’s a reason non-UM fans joke about him being an accredited message board blogger. His takes on Bo/Anderson weren’t great and he seemed butt hurt that he wasn’t consulted on the UM Board of Regents deciding to rename Yost because apparently he’s THE historian for UM who must be consulted? He’s a strange man

I don't like kicking a guy when he's down but among other problems with Schlissel, not doing a performance review of the leader of one of the most prominent public faces of the university feels like dereliction of duty.

Well let's not conflate bathwater with bathwater here.  There's the stuff you can kind of rinse off in, and then there's baby pee.

What I'm getting at is, if we assume JUB's claims are accurate, who here is a huge fan of performance reviews?  Am I the only one who finds them tedious, farcical office politics?  I'm no fan of Warde, but that's because he barely does anything.  So the answer to that is. . . shove him into a meeting and pull some arbitrary metrics out of Schlissel's arse?  What's he gonna ding him for, revenue?  Didn't we already go through that nonsense with Dave Brandon running the AD like it's a business?

You certainly want vertical communication in an organization as complicated as the University of Michigan, and here's where I agree that Schlissel and Manuel are twits.  But JUB's framing of the issues is bizarre.  That Manuel and Harbaugh haven't spoken in months is most certainly inaccurate, and that two people in executive-type jobs didn't have a "let's sociopathically measure productivity in cogs per hour" session is the most nothingburger that nothingburger'ed so hard, the NCAA is busting Harbaugh over the tip.

Sounds like BS to me.

They were seen together on multiple ocassions during the season, and I remember the tunnel incident, so I get things probably haven't been amicable between them for a while, but they for sure talk to each other.

I know for certain they have talked face to face.  As alluded, there's probably video of it.  Also pretty reasonable to ascertain they spoke about the Mazi situation, since they issued statements together.

Perhaps Bacon misworded it - maybe they haven't talked about contracts?

I mean between the contract stuff, the NFL flirtations, the covid year crap, the NCAA shit, the NIL debacle, the transfer portal, and who knows what else, I'm sure they've had a lot of difficult conversations. I honestly could see both of them insufferable to deal with. It's nice to have a president who seems to be actively trying to fix the situation.

“As I stated in December, while no one knows what the future holds, I expect that I will be enthusiastically coaching Michigan in 2023. I have spoken with President Ono and Athletic Director Warde Manuel and appreciate their support of me and our program. Our mission as Wolverines continues, and we are preparing for the 2023 season with great passion and enthusiasm. As our legendary coach Bo Schembechler said, ‘Those Who Stay Will be Champions.'

While we may wish that those two spoke more, I'd rather how they currently communicate over Brandon sitting with Hoke/RR going over game film every week. Plus, do we know if their communication is any different than other Power 5 schools?

I have no reason to doubt JUB about Harbaugh not speaking with Warde since May. It is very strange. Didn't Warde go to Indy for the B1G Championship game? You'd think Warde congratulated Jim and the team for winning a second B1G title.

It is great to have a U of M president that will fix a few things concerning a disconnect with the AD and how he runs the department.

Holy shit. That is unbelievable. WARDE HAS TO GO. Harbaugh is far more important to Michigan than is Warde. Get him the hell out of there and bring in someone who is willing to work hand-in-hand with the most important coach at the university.

The question is who can Harbaugh work with?  If he can work with Santa Ono, I think it's an important enough relationship for the university that he should take the lead with Harbaugh.  Santa is so involved with athletics, I don't think we need a CEO type AD anymore.  Let Santa make the big picture decisions.  Bring in more of a day to day, keep the operations running type AD.

This is simply not true. Maybe he is just referring to contract talks? They have definitely spoken to each other at games as witnessed on live tv.

If your response is, "Bacon is crazy I saw them talking once or twice in public" and not "oh that makes the Ono tweet about Harbaugh's contract make perfect sense," I don't know what to tell you.  There are obviously big problems between Harbaugh and Warde.

I mean, didn't Harbaugh say something to the effect of "I've spoken with Warde" after the msu game? Plus they were literally at the presser after that game together. I would guess they've spoken, just about things they had to talk about.
