7 months, during which:

 - Jim has a pretty good season

 - Jim's contract, negotiated to Jim's disadvantage after 2020, would seem to merit a significant revision

 - Michigan gets a new President, i.e. Warde gets a new Boss

 - MSU tunnel, Mazi Smith gun, NCAA nothingburger, Weiss doing god-know-what are all incidents with legal ramifications.

to quote Princess Bride: Inconceivable!

MSU’s AD should be fired for fiscal irresponsibility. He’s paying top-5 money to a .500 coach. That’s just stupid. Warde is not popular, but he’s not paid to be popular. He’s paid to run a $200M entity. I’m sure he DGAF what we think of him.

Your base pay is exactly that, a starting point. Many CEOs get a very good base pay, but they make their real money on performance bonuses. Good for Warde for rewarding performance and having reasonable expectations.
Michigan coaches were notoriously underpaid during the Canham administration. He is widely believed to be Michigan’s greatest AD.

I have to know - how do you not know who your employees are?  I mean, the way you describe it (so vaguely), you seem to work for a fairly large company.  Surely you have an HR system that tracks personnel and performance reviews, right?  How do you not know this for ~one year?

Pending further explanation, I put this 100% on you!

You folks all make great points. Yes, very large organization where I am a high grade but not at executive level

The granularity of my budget view only goes down to the supporting organization. I cannot view who is charging my funding by name. The system is set up so I can direct funding but not monitor effectively.

It was jarring to learn someone making $180K/year was on my team without my knowledge and making zero contributions.

I mean they did sit next to each other in the press conference after the tunnel incident, so what they didn’t talk to each other? I don’t buy what bacon is saying

Was hoping to see some saying this. I just don’t believe it.

Also someone on Twitter posted photos of Jim and Warde making small talk etc a few times through the season and at practice in response to JUB. Bacon basically said yeah I meant they’re talking but not talking talking, you know. Weird backtrack.

Na fuck that now i feel like an asshole and want to delete my last 3 comments.  So they have talked and how the fuck would bacon know when they make small talk and when they say "hey you saw my email about this important thing?" "Yeah ill email you back, crazy weather huh?"

There is a HUGE difference between a 'show and tell' press conference and actually "talking".  Just taking a guess here, but I am pretty sure that Bacon is referring to Warde and Harbaugh not having any "status meeting" / "1 on 1" / work related meetings.

And for those who are trying to pin this all on Harbaugh, while I agree that Jim is 'different' there is a growing list of examples with Warde that demonstrates his slow and sometimes nil response to ANY athletic situation.  For example:

Baseball - Dakich

Hockey - Firing Mel

Football - 2020 contract; tunnel incident; new contract; NIL support; NCAA investigation

There is a pattern developing with Warde that is showing a slow and sometime bizarre behavior.

Now, Warde could certainly be a "Hands off" managerial approach.  Choosing to allow his team (aka all head coaches) plenty of latitude to operate as they see fit.  And there is some level of merit to that, but there is also the aspect that he has repeatedly been very slow to react to items/issues that have been allowed to fester much longer than they should have.  This would be his downfall.

I would expect / hope the AD would be a "Hands off" approach when dealing with their team (no Dave Brandon here - again aka all head coaches), HOWEVER I would expect the same AD would be diligent in the background executing their responsibilities (aka: coaching contract, budget management, future project to enhance the athletic department, any issues arising from any sports, prioritizing the cash cow - football, etc...).  This is where I believe Warde is not doing a very good job and honestly a pretty piss poor one at it.

All of these things are insane. Shows how completely uninterested Schlissel was with athletics. The fact that Jim and Warde haven't spoken directly in almost a year makes the "no man knows the future" comments a little more understandable. I assume Ono will either try to repair the relationship or fire Warde and hire someone who is more aligned with the school's goals. I'd lean towards it likely being the latter

I call bullshit on this. Maybe they haven’t spoken directly about contracts or other long term things, but they literally sat next to one another at the MSU press conference. They must have discussed what happened there prior to the conference and devised their response appropriately.  This doesn’t vindicate not having more open lines of ongoing communication, but I just think the tweet overstates things.

One note, they’ve definitely had conversations and chatted. Just haven’t conducted official business one on one. Idk why JUB didn’t clarify that in his tweet…

The thing that has always annoyed me with Warde is how he insists on wearing quarter zips underneath his blazers. It looks absolutely atrocious.

Edit: he’s now also backtracked on Schilssel not having a review with Manuel in 6 years
