Look to the Skies Tonight
Mates,
Interesting evening in our solar system. Tonight just after sunset you should have a once-in-a-lifetime view on this: Mount Everest-sized space rock dubbed the 'Mother of Dragons' makes its first visit to the inner solar system in 70 years

Locating the comet: 'The comet will appear low in the west after sunset, setting below the horizon around 90 minutes after the Sun does. 'This means it will be difficult to observe, but not impossible. It will be just below and to the left of Jupiter, which will appear as a bright white dot to the naked eye.
Also, there is a fair chance to see the Northern Lights tonight. Clear over much of Michigan, but we do have to deal with a 98% waxing moon. Regardless, thought I'd mention it before sunset for those who might be interested.

If you ate in a subdivision with trees you can't see it tight? Hoe far up from the horizon is it?
i don't ate in a subdivision.
i actually think that if you have a reasonable view of the low western horizon, light pollution won't wipe out the comet. the northern lights, on the other hand, tend to be much more limited.
The smoker you drink the player you get? Joe?
I ate in a subdivision but no tree is blocking my views of tight hoes.
Lemme ask you this- if the moon was made of spareribs, would you eat it?
Heck, I'd have seconds then polish it off with a tall, cool Budweiser.
Everyone knows the moon is made of cheese. My grandson even said so this weekend, and I knew that 50 years ago.
I've heard that it's similar to, but also totally different from Wenslydale.

OK, ChatGTPeen
But what do we do if we live in areas where people use electricity?
smart aleck. IIRC, you live somewhere near TC - you can easily get to some place with a clear view of the comet, and maybe the northern lights.

True. Just having fun.
Thanks for the heads up, XM. I’m in Petoskey and will head down to the water with a can of Unraveled. Would love to see some Northern lights.
the moon is up so it might be tough. i checked this a.m. at about 0500 hrs and it was washed out some.

User pic checks out!
Now let's get back to our discussion of meteor showers, the Mother of Dragons, space junk, Aurora Borealis, and other assorted Cosmik Debris.

OMG, XM has been unmasked as Jack Horkheimer: Star Hustler.
Logged in to upvote the Horkheimer.
My kids and I used to enjoy watching Jack Horkheimer. Those 'Star Hustler' bits he did were fantastic.
"Keep looking up!"
Lyrid meteor showers will also be visible to most of the Northern Hemisphere tonight.
thanks, hank. forgot to mention that.
No problem, XM. Your years of contribution to the blog have earned you a pass or two in my book. Yep.
Also a chance it could rain more commits.
I’m sick of these goddamn waxing moons messing shit up.
I feel like I say this more than a dozen times a year which says something about something.
Science.
update: comet is bright, but stationary.
what is not stationary is the meteor shower. just watched one cross about 80 degrees worth of the sky and then flame out. pretty cool.
I did see a couple fairly faint meteors earlier while outdoors for 15 minutes tonight. But when the nearly full moon is so bright that it was difficult to even find the B1G Dipper, I'm lucky to have seen any at all.
No chance for me to see the Northern Lights or a comet, but I had a great view of the moon from my window.
When the moon hits your eye
Like a big pizza pie
That's amore
Thanks...Interesting. We have a spectacularly gorgeous and clear sky this evening out here on the Great Kansas Prairie. Jupiter is already shining brightly.
We do need to get an early start to our sleep...leaving by 6 in the morning...will take two days to get to Virginia. Have a couple cycling and golfing dates before we get there. A nephew's wedding in Norfolk on Saturday.
See y'all when we get back.

Rats! I didn't get a chance to read this until way too late.
I generally don't take orders from others, especially from a sports blog rando. Find another slave, chump
