Late NBA thread: Green still a mega pos

Submitted by TeslaRedVictorBlue on April 18th, 2023 at 12:28 AM

The Kings/Warriors series has been really good so far.

Green stood on a player's chest just now and keeps whooping it up. Such a bitch. Yes, his leg was grabbed a bit. But he stood on the guy's chest.

As a Celtics fan who saw this first hand in the finals last year, good riddance to that punk.

76ers and Celtics appear on a collision course. Lakers going to likely win that series if ja is out for good.

I expect Giannis will recover soon enough and the bucks will be fine

Wide open field this year!

The first replay tells the story. Green’s weight is on his left foot, pushing off the court to get out in transition. He is picking up his right foot and feels Sabonis pulling on it. His right foot comes free and keeps moving upwards, and his weight is still fully on his left foot. From that instant, he decides not to jump off his left foot like a normal NBA player does hundreds of times a game. It was a split second decision but he could have avoided Sabonis and chose not to.

Agree, except not sure anything comparable happens to normal NBA players hundreds of time each game. It's seems rare to me that anyone's arms get wrapped up or interfere with another player's leg as happened here. It happens, but not too often, and is different that simply jumping off one foot or the other.

The hate Draymond gets annoys me to no end..

I'm a 43 year old Pistons Fan. I remember how hard we all cheered the Bad Boys. Hell I still have an autographed Bill Laimbeer poster hanging on my mancave wall.

I know he's a Spartan but the man does what he's paid to do so well.

Pretty weird hill you're dying on my dude, but sure go off.

Laimbeer was a championship caliber player and could definitely hack it in today's league, pun probably intended, as a stretch five, which was a skillset most centers in his time didn't have.  While not a Hall of Famer, he's indisputably in the Hall of Very Good and definitely earned his 2x rings.  But he also went out of his way to try and hurt other players.  And while I get that was part of his arsenal and that there is a psychological aspect to the game he was leveraging, he was still a dirty-ass player who (again) tried to hurt others and, yes, the same applies to Draymond.  He obviously doesn't have any qualms about being remembered that way and that's fine, but let's call a spade a spade

(Plus, he also played for Notre Dame)

Are you saying that nut punches are the key to winning titles?  I think I am going to need to see a source for your research on that one.  I don't think anybody begrudges someone playing hard and physical.  But you can do so without taking obvious cheapshots.  He doesn't just approach the line to being dirty, he loves crossing that line and thrives on the hate.  He is the perfect Sparty.  And because he is an all-star, he gets away with way more than he should.

I hope he gets suspended long enough to cause them to lose the series.  Sorry, JP, I am tired of Green and the Warriors.

It’s a shame too, since Dray was on his way to yet another triple-single.

Dude is washed af. He won’t be a Warrior next year.

I’m not even talking about that. I’m talking about the fact that he’s a complete offensive liability. He’s averaging a triple single for the 5th straight year. He can’t shoot and teams sag way off him, which is clearly hurting them against the Kings. And his defense, while still good, is not what it once was. Add in his general douchebaggery and there no way the Ws can afford to pay him what he wants next year. Good luck in Charlotte or Indiana next year Dray.

Video to me shows that Draymond stomped on then jumped off of Sabonis. That said, if you grab my leg as I begin a run up court as Sabonis did to Draymond here, something that could cause severe injury, you'd be lucky to not get kicked in the face.

Draymond is something of a tool, but he was not in the wrong here, in my opinion.

If he's going to do the fake "I accidentally stepped on him but didn't purposely stomp on him" routine, he needs to take some notes from Suh. Don't look down at the player you're stomping on. Don't engage in hysterically theatrical, fake lunging like a European soccer player who just got a wet willy from his opponent. Just calmly, methodically place all your weight on the foot doing the damage and act like you didn't even know the guy was there.

Not a Draymond fan but he makes that team really click and is the only "enforcer" on that team. he is much needed like Rodman and thr Bulls.

With that said, Sabonis doesn't have a great rep either. Let's watch the entire play. He already flop from Klays light shove, fails his legs to try and get Klay caught up, then grabs Draymonds leg. This all happened in the span of what? 1-2 seconds? What do you think he was doing all game? not supporting Draymond but with how easy he is to set off...this is no surprise. With that said, no suspensions should be given.

Dray is a victim of circumstances, over and over again.  Some dude puts his chest where Dray’s foot is going.  What can he do?  It’s bad enough that guys keep putting their nuts where his legs and feet are swinging.  How can he help that?   Misunderstood.  A victim of circumstances.

I really don't even care about the non-stop trash talk. That's basketball. What makes him a selfish dick in my opinion is that he's now hurt his team in the playoffs multiple times by his actions and all the while paints himself as the ultimate team player.

That said, Cleveland says thanks for the boost in 2016.

Green's action is certainly despicable, but grabbing someones' leg under the situation was a dangerous dirty play too.

No fan of Giannis either, who probably is even dirtier than Green, just sneakier.
