JUB says Harbaugh's contract still 'proceeding'

Submitted by lhglrkwg on November 4th, 2023 at 11:44 AM

Thought this was worth sharing as it's own thread since I consider JUB to be one of the most plugged and least hyperbolic insiders and this is the opposite of some panic from last night

Anyone who claims they know what the NCAA, the Big Ten, UM, or Jim Harbaugh will do is lying - especially with new leaders at all three institutions. This is uncharted waters, and just about anything is possible.
And oh yeah: Nobody Knows Anything.

Aside: UM is proceeding with Harbaugh's contract.

Seems like Pettiti thought he was just here to negotiate TV contracts and is in over his head already. Hopefully Ono stands firm for due process

I’m clearly the only one here who wishes we’d wait to see what evidence gets dropped about what he knew, or what the evidence is that he’d need to have his head in the sand to not know. Also seems like I’m the only one here who doesn’t care if extending him makes us a black sheep and perpetual laughing stock in college football.

You will fit right in at Eleven Warriors and RCMB, if you are so concerned about the posters here. You think being a laughing stock matter? They are already out to undermine the program. It doesn't matter what we do. They are going to laugh or complain or cry or shit in their pants.

If it comes out that Harbaugh had any knowledge he can be given proper punishment. Nobody reasonable on this board has said otherwise.

But waiting around to find that is absurd. Proceed with contract and write a clause in there to avoid any wrong doing that is found in the future.

No media or B1G coaches have waited for due process. But you want UM to do all that. SMH

Just so that I'm understanding, I'm assuming you mean to say that you're the only one "who does care if extending him makes us a black sheep and perpetual laughing stock"?

Thank you. I was waiting for JUB to say something. I said yesterday in one of the threads that we need JUB's statement. I agree with you. He is level headed and not hyperbolic. Sam is plugged in as well but he has a show to run. But JUB is a straight shooter.

This makes me feel better about rest of the day. Let us enjoy some Football.

And Thank God for Mr. Santa Ono. What a find.

The fake outrage from other schools' coaches and AD/Presidents is truly incredible.

I hope Michigan builds in a "PI fund" in their next athletic budget so they can investigate all the other schools' athletic departments with a fine-tooth comb.

They should focus on FBI/IRS-level infractions, like tax evasion from illegal cash payments, and any kind of misappropriation of public funds for the public schools. Let's end some careers, like they are trying to do here.

As for the Big Ten - Michigan is one of the most valuable properties in the portfolio - Michigan should start acting like it and put pressure on the commissioner to do what is in the best interest of Michigan, regardless of whether other schools think it's 'fair'.

The time to be above the fray is over. Want to go scorched earth on Michigan? Then let's show them what 'Leaders and Best' really means.

Japanese Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, who planned the attack on Pearl Harbor would reportedly write in his diary, “I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.”

I am looking forward to reading a similar diary entry from Ryan Day (following the one where he talks about "how dreamy JJ" is).

FYI:  There's no proof of him actually saying the sleeping giant line.

It was in a movie.

Its more than likely he never said it

"The director of Tora! Tora! Tora!Richard Fleischer, stated that while Yamamoto may never have said those words, the film's producer, Elmo Williams, had found the line written in Yamamoto's diary. Williams, in turn, has stated that Larry Forrester, the screenwriter, found a 1943 letter from Yamamoto to the Admiralty in Tokyo containing the quotation. However, Forrester cannot produce the letter, nor can anyone else, American or Japanese, recall it or find it. Randall Wallace, the screenwriter of the 2001 film Pearl Harbor, readily admitted that he copied the line from Tora! Tora! Tora!

Please. I completely understood that the first tweet was in regard to the punishment and the second tweet was about his contract, which by the way, one has to infer because it's not explicitly stated.

But don't act like these things are completely unrelated. They've become intertwined.

It was just a little jab at JUB, and I'm pleased that UMForLife has the reading comprehension skills to appreciate the humor.

I think you need to take a break from the boards. The narrative in your head, which is detached from actual facts, has overtaken your posts.

facts: wrong

law: wrong

application of law to facts: wrong

When called out about all of the above: flip flop

when flip flop noted: revert to incorrect facts and throw shade at anything/one who doesn’t agree with detached narrative.

Was just watching Return of the King last night...Is the Battle of Pelennor Fields not the perfect parallel of this whole situation?!? I just imagine Harbaugh as Theoden on the ridge, before the riders of Rohan charge down towards the orks, who of course are the perfect parallel for ohio state fans. Then further on when the Haradrims approach with their oliphaunts, that's the Big 10 coaches, ADs and Pete Thamel. Then Theoden says to "reform the line!" Brings me to tears, thinking this is where we are right now with Ono and the administration in lockstep with Harbaugh and the team. Not sure who our Dead Men of Dunharrow will be but I hope they're coming. Give those clips a review on the Youtube and tell me it isn't a perfect representation of this whole thing.

Michigan needs some friendly members of the media to write some articles about how the Big Ten and NCAA handled the 1987 MSU Big Ten and Rose Bowl Champion that was littered with players who were juiced up on steroids. Were wins vacated, championship banners lowered, and coaches suspended or fired? No, no, and no. Did this give MSU a competitive advantage over other teams? Yes. Was it the sole reason they were a championship level team? Probably not. Did the rest of the conference demand that Perles be fired or their wins vacated, or that they become ineligible for bowls? Nope.

In a similar vein, they should write about the Maurice Clarett saga after OSU won the Big Ten and National Championship in 2002. He was accused of not attending classes during that year and of receiving improper benefits above $10k. An OSU investigation (eye roll) showed no academic fraud but the school did suspend him for the following season and probably avoided an NCAA investigation by doing that. Did the other Big Ten coaches and ADs demand suspensions or vacating wins or championships? Nope. If he really should have been ineligible because he likely wasn’t attending classes and was “playing school,” was OSU given a competitive advantage by letting a running back with 1,200+ yards and 18 touchdowns that year play? Absolutely.

I imagine those situations would have been just as crazy if there was rampant social media and a click driven journalism model, but the conference and its membership needs to back off. Michigan did not gain a bigger competitive advantage from Stalions than OSU and MSU did in their situations.
