JUB says Beilein will consider if asked
I'll consider considering it if I'm in consideration.
I'm not considering it.
I'll consider Warde's job though.
OK, new AD. Who do you like for the next head coach? You better be right to avoid being fired soon.
Don't tease me
That's great, but pass. He'd be here 2, maybe 3 years and then you're starting the process all over again.
What if they gave him a 3 yr deal with yaklich as assistant and coach in waiting
What has Yaklich done to deserve CIW?
Completely failed at a lower program.
Days like today remind me our fans are VERY good at demanding people be fired from Michigan, but are drooling, toddler-brained morons when it comes to suggesting who we hire.

I was all for Yaklich the first go-around but not now - the program needs buzz more than consistency at this point.
Bacon once again saying absolutely nothing of substance. I could say Brad Stevens might consider the job if asked but nobody knows if he’ll be asked or if he’d really consider it.
Bingo
Surprised it took this long to bring up Brad Stevens…lol
Love Beilein but no. My preferences in order
1. Jay Wright(Not happening)
2. Amir Abdur Rahim - USF
3. Scott Drew - Baylor
4. Grant McCasland - Texas Tech
Seems odd given the state of college hoops is way worse than when JB left and he’s not any younger.
Love what he did but... Seems like time to move on. Plus his tree didn't exactly work out well. So if the plan was temporary, not sure I want his disciple
I believe that if asked, Stackhouse would consider the position.
I don't really believe it but, Fuck it, IT'S HAPPENING
So stupid. If JB wants to ruin his legacy at Michigan, then he should definitely come back.
I don’t think he’s anywhere near our best option but there’s nothing he can do to “ruin his legacy” short of scandal. They fired Jim Boeheim but the last few years of his tenure aren’t representative of his decades of success at Syracuse. It would be similar if Beilein came back and failed.
Ah yes, JUB with yet another "I don't know shit but pay attention to me" posts.
Michigan is not going to be served trying to get a coach who fled college basketball 6 years ago because he didn't like the direction it was going and expecting him to step in and work in a system that's even less like the one that turned him off.
Michigan needs to find a coach for the future, not chase the past.
That would be a terrible idea hut would tell me the type of program Michigan wants. Also, why don't most of you get this dude left college basketball when he did because he didn't want to deal with the shift that was coming with transfer portal and 1 and done players? He knew he wasn't an NBA coach but knew he could get a job in the league because he was successful in college.
Let’s take this board back to the Golden Age of the “Fire Beilein” threads.
This is ridiculous, and pure speculation. Beilein turns 72 this year. Beilein left college basketball bc he was fed up with the constant, shady tactics of recruiting. Beilein is not coming back.
I think UM will grab a coach certainly better than Howard. It wont be Beilein though.
#GoBlue
Bacon trying to stay relevant.
Omg. I’m not sure what else to say. BTW really enjoying MAC tourney-some good bball. Relatively after that PSU game.
Where are all of the "Fire Warde Manual" posts? From what I've heard, every decision (or non decision) that he makes is evidence of his incompetence. Ergo, firing Juwan must be the wrong move.
Right?
No?
Fire Warde anyway, I guess.
We all know the big competence test is underway. Saying fire Warde right now would be like suggesting we fire a coach for a poor win in the first round of a tournament. More information is coming soon so just hold your horses.

He had to fire him or it was his job - read the tea leaves.
Absolutely not. Many won’t remember his late departure caused us to have not many options in the coaching cycle. I loved Juwan as a player and was excited the first couple years, but it was evident that he was not prepared for this job. And Maybe the overall best take is that he might be better suited for the NBA.
But back to the point, let’s not forget JB leaving us high and dry.
I assumed that Beilein left because he didn't want to coach today's college athlete in this world of NIL and transfer portal. It's worse now than it was then.
I will gladly accept the head coaching job of the University of Michigan basketball team and I'll do it for a measly $1.5 million. Take it or leave it. I'll get shit canned, probably mid-season or earlier, but I would save the AD a heap of money. And probably set the program back a little. But the money saved would be (might be but probably not) worth it.
Don’t sell yourself short. You would not be setting the program back from its current state.
How much is your buyout? Something in the Stackhouse category?
March 16th, 2024 at 12:05 AM ^
Buyout is $1.5M. I'll go away if they pay me that. No hassle. So $1.5M salary and then $1.5M buyout to equal $3M total. Worry free. I'll go away and they'll never hear from me again, promise. If they wanna talk, I am willing to listen.
I’ll do it for 1M! And a 1M buyout :)
The reasons why Beilin left in the first place have only gotten worse. If this was 2015, then I would be solid in believing Beilin would want to come back and excel, but unfortunately the portal and NIL would make it difficult for excellent coaches in recruiting and development to succeed now.
The reasons why Beilin left in the first place have only gotten worse.
Hold up. I think we need to clearly determine why Beilein actually left Michigan in the first place. While he was never enthused with the future state of recruiting, it’s also claimed he had thought about taking an NBA job for a couple years prior to his departure. He also was upset that players on his last roster at Michigan chose to move on to the NBA instead of staying in school.
All this is to say that recruiting and shady recruiting tactics (which are now legal for the most part) might have played a factor in him leaving but weren’t the sole, or overarching, factors for him leaving Michigan.
Recruiting doesn't have to be illegal to be "worse", especially when Warde is not allowing Michigan's two biggest sports programs to play on the same level of NIL playing field.

People will be begging for Jb in a few weeks after the 1st 5 coaches we are liked to use us to get raise from their current gig.
Unfortunately this not a desirable job at all under the current climate. I pray I'm proven wrong.
YES PLEASE!
If Beilein will consider “if asked,” then ASK godammit!
Hire JB to coach and nothing else. He doesn't want to deal with the portal and recruiting so hire an entire recruiting/portal team. Let JB find some smart, young coaches in hopes to find a successor in 3 years.
That won’t work unless you want a team of mercenaries.
I regard John Beilein highly. And, if this was a sport - or timing - where an "interim" head coach was needed - then, I'd be 100% supportive of bringing in Beilein until the "new" head coach could be hired.
It's March - The Dance is still a week away - and, the moving chairs of college basketball coaching has barely started. Let's let the dust settle and see what happends.
Perhaps Coach Beilein is "ok" with a short - two or three year - return to Michigan's sideline. I wouldn't have an issue with that - but, it would seem that identifying and grooming his successor would be at, or near, the top of his to-do list, with a smooth transition at the conclusion of the term. This might be an approach - hiring the "coach to be" along with Beilein - and, have them work together for a couple seasons. This MIGHT work for a younger coach with no P5 experience.
Not. A. Chance.
No recruit will come play for a coach who's starting the turnaround at 71 years old.
Really? No recruit? Didn’t Rick Pitino just recruit an entire team for this season?
March 16th, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
A little hyperbole, don’t you think?
A chance to be taught by a man who know how to actually work with and teach players solid, fundamental basketball might well attract a few recruits. Did 5 years ago. Bring in a GM to handle the portal & NIL stuff no matter what coach you hire….
I got negged when I suggested he would be interested in earlier posts.
Bring an agreed-upon coach in waiting to take over after a couple of years and it could work
JUB: says shit, knows nothing.
In just one tweet ...
- "might" consider
- "if" asked
- "I don't know"
- "Nobody knows anything"
- "Anything could happen"
I mean seriously. He seems like an ok guy and all, but why even tweet shit like this (other than pumping social media interactions)?
