According to Tom Pelissero

I for one did not think the Lions had this trick up their sleeve

He drafted Patrick Mahomes and Baker Mayfield for their respective clubs.

He was still let go from both because some of his other decisions were suspect, including head coaching hires in Cleveland.

He was set up pretty well to succeed in Cleveland with a trove of high draft picks and a clean cap sheet.

His experience should serve the Lions well, but it's not like he's batting 1.000 on personnel decisions.

Lifelong fan, I want to believe!  I had never heard of him, this is the first story that I saw when googling, and it sounded like some Browns fans didn't like him, so the SOL BPONE popped in mind. I wonder what went wrong for him in Cleveland & KC, they both let him go. KC got to postseason many times & won the Super Bowl soon afterwards with many of the players he acquired.  I guess he had issues with his management style and salary cap.  Sounds like a positive move overall.

Has has a history of finding QBs, which has become extremely important.

He traded up from No. 27 to No. 10 to take MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the 2017 NFL draft, and selected players like wide receiver Tyreek Hill, defensive lineman Chris Jones and running back Kareem Hunt.

In Cleveland, Dorsey took quarterback Baker Mayfield and cornerback Denzel Ward with top-five picks in 2018.

Before drafting Mahomes and Mayfield as GM, Dorsey was the director of college scouting when the Green Bay Packers took Aaron Rodgers with their first pick in the 2005 draft, and he signed Kurt Warner as an undrafted free agent.

Don't look now,but Lions are making some good hires. It's almost like they have a plan. And by a plan I mean a plan that makes sense.

Ray Agnew (was Dir. of Pro Scouting for the Rams) is also coming over. The Lions are finally doing smart things. Hopefully they will rebuild their scouting department with outside talent as well. They do that, and then I'll be convinced they won't blow the Stafford situation.
