Jett gone
Is he taking his dad with him???
I would up vote you more if I could. This team will crater next year if we keep status quo
By status quo you mean your starting PG injured all season and the youngest team in the country. I think just growing a year older will cover that.
To be fair Llewelyn wasn’t lighting the world on fire when he played this season
To be fair, all the recent transfer PGs didn't start out the season lighting the world on fire but improved nicely as the season continued. Llewellyn didn't get that chance this year.
Jones had a few good games but was never that great in my opinion. Collins not Jones lead the team to the sweet sixteen. I do not think they make the sweet sixteen with Jones starting. Mike Smith got better but was also a knock down shooter from day one.
Also look at Tyson Walkers improvement on MSU from year 1 to year 2. ppg from 8 to 15. Increased rebounds, decreased turnovers.
Llewellyns role next year is going to be different. He can be a 2 instead of the full time point.
Doesn’t matter how young the team is if all the young talent is constantly leaving. Assuming we lose Kobe as well I’m having a tough time seeing how this team makes the tourney next year.
I’d be surprised if Juwan is still the coach this time next year.
You must be joking. I don't want to shit on a player, but Llewellyn was not playing well at all. The last two transfer PGs have been awful additions, both because of their performance and because of how it's set us back on player development
They're going to be older.... How? Young guys and old guys are leaving. We don't have a clue what next year's team will look like
They imported two old guys in Baker ACS Llewellyn. Howard drove away a lot of 2nd and third year players. The roster is entirely his... you can call it young, but Dickenson is 25.
So many excuses..
dickinson is 22.
Youngest team in the country? Ummm
-1, general assholery.
I agree with you on that, but I don't disagree with the sentiment
That was quick. Gave almost no thought to it. Good luck young man. Kill it in the league.
He's almost 20, and he's projected in the lottery. Not a lot to think about.
Nobody has projected him as a lottery for the last 2 months. Late 1st rounder.
ESPN has him as the #16 prospect in the draft
You would think he’s got pretty good intel on his draft prospects.
Not projected lottery anymore. And for good reasons.
He’s a 3-and-D with no D. He had under 3 rebounds per game, the fewest of any of the players that started most of the year. He has a Just-A-Shooter stat profile, but he shot under 37% from 3. It seems like you can do a lot better with a first round pick.
So his stock has fallen during the course of the season? Sounds like leaving before it drops more isn't a bad idea. Might as well take first round money while it's basically guaranteed.
Lmao! You don't think he's put incredible amounts of thought into this decision? He's blessed that he knew what he wanted to do with such conviction.
This is the hard hitting investigative journalism I browse the MGoBoard for
Well, according to barstool sports...so take that for what it's worth.
Woj retweeted a source. If he puts his stamp on it, it's real.
You think barstool would just make it up? Cause that's what they do?
Yeah they wouldn’t know it’s not like a player on the team is on one of their podcasts or anything.
I'm sick and tired of one and done players. I can't take college basketball ball seriously because of it. Give me a player, regardless of recruiting rank, who will stay with a program for multiple seasons.
If you took basketball seriously enough this season to watch the team, you saw plenty of guys who will stick around as long as they're allowed to
Jace Howard says hello.
Jace had a higher 3P% than Jett (on admittedly much lower volume, but still) and knew how to defend and rebound.
Ehh…if the top player in the 2024 class wanted to commit to Michigan tomorrow. I’d be happy as hell. Talent acquisition is still the name of the game, better to have it than not. We only had one 1-and-done this season(and he missed some games) so majority of this team is what you wanted. Yet the biggest problem was the lack of skill and talent.
I swear this is the same tired complaint I've heard about basketball for decades now. Fine - if you don't like players leaving after a year then stop watching basketball. It's part of the sport and that's okay; this team is chock full of guys who have/will stick around for multiple years.
And I might be wrong, but it's an NBA rule right? Can't really blame the players or the NCAA if it's the NBA who decides the rule.
Would it have killed you to provide a link?
I'm not surprised. Would have been nice to have for one more year.
I think this is surmountable if Bufkin and Dickinson are back.
If they aren't we're in a heap o trouble
(now with clicky link-y for the people who had their panties in a twist)
Bufkin is really the one offseason hope pivots on. Jett is definitely the one we can afford to lose of these 3
Would it have killed you to provide a link?
Says the guy who failed to provide a link!!!
Edit: reply was to gobluem
Would it kill you to provide a clickable link?
Killer trolling job, pretending to provide a link! You sure told him.
To actually add a link, click the icon at the top of the Comment box that looks like a link in a chain (or like a paperclip).
It's for the best. He obviously needs to develop his game -- in a lot of ways, especially regarding high-level consistent effort -- but he can do that in the NBA, because anytime you're a guaranteed to be a first round pick, and you want to go, you should go. Hanging around in college, if your heart isn't in it, isn't good for anyone.
Best of luck to him.
Another year of growing pains for no payoff, ugh. He was even in the usual sweet spot rankings wise to be a multi-year player. I expected this but still just hurts.
Probably was never really a question. It will certainly be interesting to see how he does. Let's hope Bufkin comes back.
No ill will towards Jett at all but I am not sad to see him go. He has a ton of athletic ability and potential, but as has been discussed to death in virtually every thread regarding the basketball team, the team was just better when he was not in the game. His lack of defensive effort, lack of rebounding effort and penchant for just standing around waiting for the ball on offense consistently hurt the team’s overall performance. It was clear from midway through the season that he already had his mind and heart set on the NBA, and not at Michigan. Surprising, given that by all accounts, his dad bleeds maize and blue.
Which is silly because if he had busted his ass on D like Franz did, he'd have been a lottery pick. Instead he half assed it. Hard to believe.
To be fair, I doubt he would ever be as a good of a defender as Franz, even with lots of effort. Wagner was a special defensive talent.
We are a football school.
But we should be fucking good at everything.
