Maybe this is a homer take, but one has got to think that Juwan coming back to coach Michigan greatly accelerated or forced the healing process between the Five Fab and it's great to see. Fab Five reunion is going to be exciting

For sure. Wish they had t lost so much time. Just watched Shaq talk about not calling people enough after he learned of Kobe’s death. Life is so short, so it’s sad to see people hold off for so long.

Both of them had great careers in the NBA and both fun to listen to as analysts. Glad to see Webber get into the hall of fame too. The Fab Five had such an impact, and it’s great to see one of them recognized as the hall of famer he is.

My reason is this. Whether everyone else was doing it or not, ultimately the team was breaking the rules. We will all remember those years, they were a ton of fun.  However, we should not celebrate them.  If you hang the banners you are saying it is not just okay to break the rules, you should be celebrated for it.  That is not what Michigan stands for, that is not what Michigan is.

I loved the fab five, I hope they all come back together and see a few games.  But we can’t celebrate an era that sunk Michigan basketball for over a decade.

The banners were removed because young men got paid.  They got paid by a scumbag because they were HS kids and didn't know any better.  Soon, college athletes will be getting paid for NIL anyway.

They played the games fair and square, and they deserve the honor and dignity that goes with those banners.

Stop the holier than thou bullshit.

The person in question with regard to the banners is Mr. Webber, who was very much a college kid at the time. Mr. Webber got significant amounts of money, much more than anyone else from this guy, for seemingly nothing.  He did not sell his name or imaging rights.  Martin was not looking to influence him to go to Michigan.  The story goes that he was just trying to latch on to a future NBA player.  But Mr. Martin was heavily connected to the mafia and their gambling activities.  Mr. Martin would be killed in jail, likely for his connection to this mafia gambling activity.  Yet we want to sell off this connection to a huge amount of money to Chris Webber as just a kid looking for a little money.  Call me skeptical.

These guys are like brothers... you can having a fallout with family, but ultimately blood wins out...I think their relationship is complicated like that.

Glad that they are on their way to reconciliation.

here's the full ESPN clip.

I can't get enough of the Fab Five love. It's real.

Also, damn, look at that NBA center running the court and putting the ball behind his back and dunking on people. Young guns that didn't get to watch Webber live (or the Fab Five more generally) probably don't understand how good he was. Webber had the best hands of any big man in the history of the NBA. NFL TE All Pro quality. He was so powerful and explosive, so long, but he was smooth and graceful too. He was the first player of his type. There have been better big men of course, but he was individual and unique. He was injured in the NBA and that really did bring an end to his explosiveness.

All love and appreciation for what the Fab Five have brought to my life.

Young guns also probably don’t know that Webber was the guy who The Dream Team (yes THAT Dream Team: Jordan, Magic, Bird. Admiral, Ewing) could not handle when they had their famous scrimmages to prep for the 1992 Olympics.  That was no small part of his mystique.

Those hands were just bonkers. His passing ability for a big in that era was off the charts.

Wow that was beautiful.  When Jalen asked him what his favorite moments were and CWebb started going on about all the people he needed to thank, I though he was just overwhelmed and didn’t register the question.  But when he said that the games wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for them I really got emotional.  Such grace

Also seemed that he may even have been more emotional about seeing Jalen than about the HoF call but maybe I’m projecting

This will probably get negged to hell, but I want to say it:

It struck me that he thanked the police men that played with him in particular. I wonder what can be done to reunite communities with their police, what do you think the odds are that this generation's Chris Webber would play ball with some cops, or that cops would take interest in a kid like that?

Still wish the Magic would have never traded C-Webb. Him and Shaq together would have been like having Robinson and Duncan together in their prime. All the Magic had to do was surround them with shooters and they would have multiple championships.

On topic, very happy to see Jalen and C-Webb reconcile. Icing on the cake to the well deserved HOF induction. Go Blue!

2021 will always be remembered, by me, as a awesome year for the Hall of Fame:

NFL - Former Michigan Legend....Charles Woodson made it in.

Former Detroit Legend.....Calvin Johnson made it in

------------

NBA - Former Michigan Legend......Chris Webber made it in.

Former Detroit Legend.....Ben Wallace made it in

*Neither the NHL nor MLB had ANYONE make the hall of fame, in their respective 2021 classes*

Powerful. Great interview with two grown men. Loved them both back in the day and glad they are in each other’s good graces.

The fact that C-Webb had to wait so long, relatively speaking in HOF, 8 years, to finally be acknowledged in this way, is wonderful, in that he can still celebrate it with others.  That basketball, as a collective whole, tends to celebrate anyone's enshrinement rather than having the gatekeeping of the Baseball Hall of Fame, is also wonderful.

There will be a full reunion one day at Crisler and it will be glorious.
