Jaden Smith requests release from NLI
First casualty. I’ll be interested to see what the Athletic Department does. Hopefully this is a blip but hard to tell since the entire defensive staff is gone and the head coach.

I dislike the job Warde has done as much as the next complainer here, but you can't pin this on him.
February 11th, 2024 at 7:05 PM ^
Need to stop with the Warde crap. Jim said he wasn’t going to do the NFL song and dance every year and he lied… And now he’s gutted our coaches and is trash to me as far as legacy.
February 11th, 2024 at 7:26 PM ^
Your constituents chose poorly. Harbaugh’s legacy is and will be that of a National Champion. You are clearly spoiled and don’t remember the RichRod and Hoke years.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:16 PM ^
I’m not a Mayor and have no constituency…Neither am I spoiled and this has nothing to do with on the field performance. His legacy of a champ is tarnished by his scorched earth campaign to sabotage his handpicked successor. I do remember those years vividly.
February 11th, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
I'm not sure even a functional NIL program could cure losing the entire defensive coaching staff.
February 11th, 2024 at 5:54 PM ^
We can expect a few defections. Happens.

SQ -Welcome back from the land of Negative Nancy!

Jaden Smith to the Chargers??
February 11th, 2024 at 6:02 PM ^
Hate to see him leave. Hope he chooses Charlotte. Gives us an extra Scholarship for a transfer
February 11th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
Reality that they will lose some guys. We knew this the moment Harbaugh left. Moore is clearly fine with risking losing guys as he passed up naming Clink or Elston for DC.
Let’s see who he names as DL, LB, and CB.Potential CB coach might be a very popular hire from what I hear.
We know Sherrone is stressing recruiting.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:08 PM ^
Who is the DB coach you speak of?
February 11th, 2024 at 6:13 PM ^
Corey Parker.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:51 PM ^
Looks promising with local connections.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:05 PM ^
It’s not surprising that some recruits who chose Michigan before all the turnover might change their minds now. It’s not necessarily a reflection on Moore, especially since it seems this kid was recruited to play defense and everyone on that side is gone, along with Harbaugh and Herbert. Maybe there will be other recruits who’ll make a better connection with Moore? The only thing certain is that over time, Moore will succeed or fail on his own merits.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:08 PM ^
Yeah, not a big surprise. I figure a guy who committed to a staff that no longer exists is likely to go outside. It sucks, but credit to UM not pulling an Alabama and making these decisions during the transfer window and not sticking a guy until he can't leave as easily.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:09 PM ^
Disappointing but also understandable.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:14 PM ^
Who’s bag made this happen?
February 11th, 2024 at 6:25 PM ^
It’ll depend on how quickly he finds a new team. If it takes awhile and he takes visits then maybe it’s staff related but if it’s right away then he’s been contacted by someone and given an offer.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:27 PM ^
At first I thought this was the QB we just signed.
I don't even know who this kid is. Is this a big loss?
February 11th, 2024 at 6:38 PM ^
Daily dong punch completed. Can't wait to read everyone talk about how he's not a big loss and we only want kids who are all in for Michigan, so nbd.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:44 PM ^
Ok. Leadership change brings other change.
Moore will need to rebuild the future roster with his guys. Given his recruiting track record, Moore and UM should be fine.
February 11th, 2024 at 7:12 PM ^
Based off some of the other takes…
HOW DARE YOU COME IN HERE WITH LOGIC AND REASON! EVERYTHING IS AWFUL AND THE SKY IS FALLING!
February 11th, 2024 at 8:12 PM ^
Just waiting on Moore’s first commit to crack the seal. Our Culture is gonna continue.
February 11th, 2024 at 9:45 PM ^
Continuity of culture remains to be seen. It takes more than one coach to make a program culture. And we just lost almost all of our coaches.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:45 PM ^
Good thing is that we waited until all the transfers and recruits were off the board to make any meaningful changes or get any positive impact from the change. Feels like Michigan insists annually on not capitalizing on momentum
February 11th, 2024 at 7:21 PM ^
Not sure what you’re looking for. Harbaugh took his sweet time. The portal was pretty empty then.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
Feels like Michigan insists annually on not capitalizing on momentum
And yet just one month ago, MICHIGAN won the college football National Championship!
Oh yeah, they also beat OSU THREE times in a row. And had an unprecedented THREE straight B10 championships. Fucking whiners.
February 11th, 2024 at 6:52 PM ^
You guy's acting like Harbaugh didn't have recruits de-commit or enter the portal as soon as they could.
February 11th, 2024 at 7:04 PM ^
I'd like to know what Moore is doing about these problems
February 11th, 2024 at 7:16 PM ^
His first priority is to answer to this board I’m sure. It’s definitely not to complete his staff, make recruiting plans, figure out his first spring practice, keep the players already in the locker room…
February 11th, 2024 at 8:59 PM ^
Well he needs to answer us here and then move onto those other important items
February 12th, 2024 at 3:20 AM ^
Jaden Smith has always dreamed of playing elsewhere. There’s nothing Sherrone could have done to keep him at Michigan!
Am I doing that right? Why are the coaches expected to retain recruits when Warde gets a pass on retaining coaches?
February 11th, 2024 at 7:47 PM ^
Who has it gotten better than us?
I say many.
February 11th, 2024 at 10:36 PM ^
What did you do to win the National Championship? And what did Moore do? Yeah, you should be grateful and trust time rather than hyperventilating all over the keyboard.
February 11th, 2024 at 7:55 PM ^
Has there ever been any national title winning team that entered its offseason with literally no wind in its sails? because that is what’s happening to Michigan right now.
Honestly with the kind of deflated momentum around the program right now you’d think we just went 7-5.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:36 PM ^
I’m willing to bet this board doesn’t represent the mood of the PLAYERS. They are the ones that matter. Not a bunch of Chicken Little cry babies on MGB!
February 11th, 2024 at 11:16 PM ^
“Has there ever been any national title winning team that entered its offseason with literally no wind in its sails?”
Probably has something to do with the fact that there’s only been one other time since as far back as 1947–and possibly farther back—that a head coach who has won a national championship has immediately left to coach another team. In the modern era, it’s virtually unprecedented.
February 12th, 2024 at 5:24 PM ^
And there’s this NCAA thing
February 11th, 2024 at 7:56 PM ^
Need to lean on the transfer portal.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:04 PM ^
For what? To replace an incoming freshman linebacker who was unlikely to play anyway? I think the program will survive.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:20 PM ^
I’d say get the staff in place and work quickly on re-recruiting him. If it’s the same style of play he was coming to play for in the first place then he may come back in the fold. It’ll depend on how long it takes to get the staff in place, especially the linebackers coach
February 11th, 2024 at 8:33 PM ^
Since he wants out I say...who?
Not into pushing ropes. That said our AD must get it's competitive position together on the parameters that matter in this realm.
February 11th, 2024 at 8:49 PM ^
Glad Michigan grabbed 4 linebackers in the 2024 class. Hope they can keep the other three, especially Curtis.
February 11th, 2024 at 9:31 PM ^
Wrong thread
February 12th, 2024 at 5:22 PM ^
Not the end of the world on him passing up Michigan. Isn’t he a 3 star?
