Izzo's Comments & Scott Bell's Flamethrower

Tom Izzo: "I told Mel, we won the game for him".

6 months ago you tell me MSU loses to U-M in football by 22 and assaults U-M after the game, only for MSU to convince itself it’s the victim to the point that Tom Izzo dedicates an NR v NR hoops win to Mel Tucker, I say that’s too unrealistic to be cult fan-fiction, even for MSU. https://t.co/5esIAMyAPX

Genuinely having a hard time imagining the narrative in Izzo’s head about the football game. Could someone who’s spent more time following this take a shot at articulating his perspective as if you were an msu fan?

That's actually why I kinda wanna retire the Little Brother jibe, because even at their twerpiest we would stick up for our actual little brothers if someone other than us picked on them because they're family.

I have so little respect for Spartan fandom at this point that I wouldn't ever call them something that implies a familial connection

Hey, Tom, Khary Crump pleaded guilty and apologized for what he did. Seems like that means it happened and MSU was responsible. But what do I know.

He's spent the majority of his career chasing that 2nd title and has come up short 21 years in a row.  His program has devolved into one just happy to get to the 2nd round.  He knows he's done, that's why he's talking like this after a close win over a mediocre Michigan team that couldn't hit the broadside of a barn today.

He had a chance in 2019 before COVID wiped out the postseason and that was probably his last, best shot at another title.  I know they have a decent class coming in next year but he has his one title and it's gotta burn him up that he's simply not likely to get another one while most of his contemporaries have accomplished more.

How far this rivalry has fallen in such short order. For a good portion of the 2010’s the game was between two ranked; sometimes top-10 teams. Burke vs Appling, Stauskas vs G. Harris, Wagner vs Ward, Simpson vs Cassius. Must see basketball and some classics.

Now it’s 30% shooting and Hauser vs Baker and who can miss the rim by less is the headliner

I have a lot of family and friends who are MSU fans/alums. I love them outside of their fandom. I could never imagine having a "hate watch party" after my team didn't qualify for a bowl but my team's rival made the playoff. I couldn't imagine talking shit about Penn State while defending Dantonio and Izzo. MSU fans have treated me cruelly calling it just "the rivalry" while taking offense to nearly any perceived slight. They are Ohio State fans if Ohio State was a poverty program, and in fact many MSU fans will cape up on behalf of Ohio State because they are who they wish they were. Fuck their whole program. They are worthy only of disdain.

Hey, at least his players didn't assault ours after the game. Gotta give credit to Izzo succeeding where MeLLLLLLL failed, I guess!

That dogshit institution doesn't belong in the Big Ten, but where would they go otherwise? I'd hate to saddle our friends in Kalamazoo with such a shitheap. Say what you want about the SEC, but the rest of the Big Ten deserves to get slapped up by them for eternity for voting to allow the world's largest dumpster to intrude upon our conference. Michigan was absolutely correct in voting NO!

You won a game for the football coach that signed a 95 million dollar contract. This is below a participation trophy. This is a non participation trophy. Congrats Mel 🏆

I just got smack talked by a Spartan fan in Sam's Club.

I was wearing a BigTen Champion sweatshirt and he approached me and said I don't know how you can wear that after the TCU game. I replied thatbI wasn't too upset with 13-1 and back to back BigTen Championships. He told me okay okay keep talking and so I just walked away in a hurry.

Unreal. MSU's biggest football win this year was a TCU win.
