If peters and Speight are out

which is distinct possibility, who will be the back up QB? Malzone? Has he played in a game and if so has he thrown a pass?

I very much doubt they will play McCaffery and burn his redshirt.

My biggest fear is that Speight is ready and Harbaugh goes back to his stubborness and tries to "surprise" o$u by starting Speight and giving him a chance at redemption for last year. That's no good for anyone unless you're an o$u fan.

One of the best college football offensive coaching staffs in the country faced the challenge of being out their top 2 QBs, top WR, top RB, playing against the No. 10 ranked team in the country.

They played five different players at "QB", put up 645 yards on the ground, and won 49-38 over UNC.

I do not expect our offensive coaching staff to do anything remotely close to this.

I love that Harbaugh, when seeking to replace his DC, went to the internet, asked around, and tried to find the number one college defensive coordinator.

I wish he approached his offensive coaching staff with the same mentality, rather than looking for NFL folks who are available (recently terminated or in awful situations).

Seems to be that Harbaugh wants to run the offense. I've literally watched him signal in plays personally. I agree that we need an actual college OC but that might never happen between that would mean that JH has admitted his 1980's NFL style offense isn't going to work in AA and turned the reigns over to another coach... Unlikely

Things that we should try:

Zone Read with O'Korn.  We like to sprint the QB out on zone runs, except he never keeps and it's more of a going through the motions type of thing.  We did this multiple times in the Wisconsin game with Peters.  If Peters would have kept several of these times (not that I wanted him to) it was an easy 5 yards or more.  Wiscy wisely ignored the QB on these plays.  O'Korn likes to run, lets make it more proactive than reactive.  Then run some RPOs off the ZR look.

EvansCat:  I think there's some potential here, but we have to be able to get the package in and the play run in a timely fashion.  Having to call a timeout because the play clock was down against Wisco really spoiled the whole thing.

Triple Option:  FB dive fake to O'Korn rollout with McDoom or Evans as the pitchman.  Hey, it's better than the "7 step drop QB hospital" play we've been running.

Yea  anything is better then the stale offense they have been running with a pretty rough O-line.    I've been saying try running shotgun with 4 wide a RB if needed to help block, quick passes or read option if O'korn plays.    It can't be any worse can it?..............Well maybe it could cause im just a guy on MGoBlog

I'll be honest: I already think we're screwed even if Peters was fully healthy. But with him coming out of concussion protocol, Speight slowly making his way back from a severe spinal injury and having not taken a real hit in two months, and then O'Korn being what he is, it's hard not to look at our QB situation and just cringe. Especially considering OSU's DL is the best and deepest line we'll play all year by a considerable margin, and how god awful our pass pro is. It's a recipe for an unmitigated disaster.

I know, I know. Weird shit happens in these games. But on paper, this is a ginormous, unbelievable mismatch of epic proportions. It's sad that outside of 2011, we haven't had a healthy QB go into the OSU game since....what....'06?

We won a National Championship with our 3rd string QB. Your problem is harbaugh sucks. He's so overrated. He can't develop QBs

Disagree. The only loss he should have won in his tenure was last year against Ohio Michigan had the better team and should not even have gone to ot. Meyer walked into having three solid qbs on his roster harbaugh did not. Peters is his first recruit. He has looked good so far. How about the job he did with Rudock? With the exception of last year you guys have won because you have the better team with more talent plain and simple. After this year the losses and excuses will not be acceptable but after this year it will be all his players, but I still believe they can beat Ohio this year with a depleted young team. Barrett is over rated if anyone is. They can get to him, and can win this week.

Not in my wildest dreams would I ever consider going to another teams blog to talk shit. I find that overwhelmingly pathetic. For your sake, please detatch your own ego from the accomplishments of college athletes you've never met. There's being a loyal fan then there's being an insufferable asshole/

Man, you haven't even lost yet and you're whining about the BLOG rules of engagement. You're probably the type of guy that calls the cops on his neighbors when they're having a party. Chill out, it's all goood fun man. I know you guys are tired of losing, but don't blame us !

If the party is annoying me when I'm trying to have fun with my friends, you're damn right I'll call the cops. There's a reason I don't venture to your blogs, I don't like interacting with you and people like you. Has nothing to do with the result of the games although I'm positive that's where you'll take it, it has everything to do with your uncomfortable obsession with college kids and douchebaggery. Friend of mine who went to Kansas and has no dog in the fight in the B10 went to a Nebraska-Ohio State game a few years back and immediately called me afterwards to tell me how awful you people are.

I get it, being a Buckeye fan is the highest achievement of your life and I congratulate you on that. Now please, if you wouldn't mind, kindly fuck right off our space would ya?

I think it feels more like 1961 again.

In Bump Elliott's third season, Michigan started out the year in promising fashion, beating #9 UCLA 29-6, and followed up with a win over a service academy, beating Army 38-8.

The Wolverines stumbled against MSU and Minnesota later in the season, and went into the game with #2 OSU in Ann Arbor with a 6-2 record. Michigan had no offensive playmakers of any particular note beyond future pro Bennie McRae.

Final score: OSU 50  Michigan 20

One of the assistants on Woody's staff that season was Bo Schembechler.
