Venables defenses is not really worried about stats IMO. We get too hung up on ranking on how good someone is as a coach. DB defenses beat up on lesser teams and rack up the stats and looks good on paper. The issue is when Venables plays a team with a pulse his defenses seem to make the plays and DB does not. I think the difference is big plays, DB defenses gives up too many big plays against the better teams. That's what I would like to see DB improve next year. Giving an offenses 5-10 yds on 3rd and 20 is fine, we don't need a sack every 3rd and long, we need the ball back. This is just my opinion.
I love X's game, I love X's leadership, and I would love for him to coach my son someday. For the love of god if the kid had a jump shot he would be NBA bound.
In the bowl game on a QB keep Shea got the first down and dove for it. Nobody touched him, nobody was near him. That run explains Shea's tenure at Michigan.

DB scheme and it's been proven now for three years cannot get it done against teams with an above average passing game. He's best defense was with Hoke players. DB has not recruited at the talent level needed for his schemes.
X is not the guy to take the last shot or the guy I want with the ball. He's a limited on what he can do on the offense. He's not a threat for a jump shot or of the bounce jump shot. So there are two options the defense does not have to account for. DDJ, Franz or Livers are the ones to take the last shot.
X is a warrior and i love watching that kid play, but his lack of shooting cost him in this situation.

He recruited Ohio really good and it was his recruits that gave Michigan the best chance to Beat OSU. Maybe just a recruiting role for Hoke, but Don Brown is not getting the players we need to compete with OSU.

Johns did not have a huge impact on the offensive side, but he was very good on the defense side of the ball. Not sure he's getting his due on this point.
The reason for is simple and it has to due with Simpson. He simple can't make a basket when the team needs one. His poor shooting cost the team in these situations. He has seem to move away from his hook shot.

I for one don't believe concussion rates in any sports, my son got pushed in soccer after a play, bounced his head off the ground going backwards. They did the concussion test and he passed easy, they stated he was good to go. 1 hour later he is throwing up and can't even sit up his head hurts that bad. In the ER and yep he has a concussion.
When we are talking about youth football 12 and under it's a different deal. Every time they fall and their heads bounce off the ground those are all "blows" to the head. I read a report where they put sensor in helmets. A youth football game a player averages 60 sub-concussive blows a game. Think about getting hit in the head 60 times.
I supported the no heading in soccer for 12 and under. As a ref if you took heading out you would eliminate majority of concussions in the game. They happen when players go to head the ball and don't go straight up, girls are worst at this in soccer.
Everyone needs to make their own choice, my issue is there is not nearly enough information to make the choice today, we simple don't know. Yes I played football and no I will not allow my son to play, simple because I don't know what the risk is today.
I have always loved the "proper technique" line from football parents. We have no idea what damage is being caused with youth playing any high contact sport. When the top neurologist in the world state playing high contact sports is not good, I'll go with the neurologist, not a coaches wife.
After 13 is the age the neurologist seem to agree one can play.

Not having defense tackles is Don Browns fault.

I was at the game and that was 30 mins of really good basketball, followed by the worst 10 min stretch I have ever watched.
