How far is Peters away from being ready
October 14th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
the team should wait until after PSU to make a move. First start at a Happy Valley night game whiteout against T5 team... PTSD city.

Very interesting theory on why we don't see Peters. But I say go ahead and designed-run O'Korn more - what is the risk of injury at this point? This would open up some things.
October 14th, 2017 at 4:14 PM ^
It seems Harbaugh had planned before the game to not give him any snaps, which is weird considering he would usually give snaps in garbage time to the backup. We thought we were there up 10 in the 4th quarter.
If we do not see Peters in the next game, I think it's time to start questioning our highly paid coaching staff
October 14th, 2017 at 4:19 PM ^
Up 10 is not garbage time.
October 14th, 2017 at 4:23 PM ^
But up 10 with 5 min left and you have given up on O'Korn throwing a pass?
I don't know, I thought right after Higdon's 2nd TD was the perfect time to put in Peters.

If you can't trust the QB to pass the ball *at all* then why have him in there? The running game has shown some signs of life but it couldn't get M a first down at the end of regulation that they needed to ice the game. The running game will get absolutely shut down by decent defenses if there is zero concern about M's passing game.
If the coaches don't trust the QB to run half the offense, why is he there?
October 14th, 2017 at 6:43 PM ^
coaches don't trust O'Korn to throw, what the hell makes you think they are going to put the 3rd string QB in and all of a sudden we have Tom Brady?

Garbage time was the beginning of the game for Okorn. He gives us zero percent chance to win. He is that bad. I am getting off of here because people are defending playing Okorn. He is flat out no good.

The time to start questioning the coaching staff was last week after that uninspired performance. I didn't see much improvement today on O other than an O-line that seemingly bogged down toward the end of the game.
I don't understand the gameplan or see a direction of this offense at all.

Dude...Give it a rest. We had 271 yards of rushing. We had a RB crack the 200 yard marker since (when?). With a competent D2 QB, this game isn't in question at all. I see a lot of brightspots in the running game, which is great. I don't understand the platooning of all the backs though...however, guh, the QB situation is doom.

The 10 point lead in this game, you consider to be garbage time? It was more like PLEASE GOD LET US NOT SCREW THIS UP NOW time.

(A) He is terrible
(B) Pep/Harbaugh are insane
October 14th, 2017 at 4:24 PM ^
There could be one more -- he could be in some sort of doghouse situation and the coaches feel that putting him into the game would send a bad message to the team.
I don't know if A) is possible. "Terrible" would be an upgrade.
October 14th, 2017 at 4:15 PM ^
I want to say first that I have not been on the "Bench O'Korn, Peters for President" train over the past couple weeks.
But at this point we know what we're getting with O'Korn. He hands the ball off well and can pick up occasional running yards... but you can't count on him for anything downfield.
I don't see how Brandon Peters can be worse at this point. This team isn't going anywhere with this offense, even with an elite defense. Maybe it's time to get the kid some game experience and prepare him for next year.

I think the theory is if we know we are getting this with O'Korn, there's a valid case for getting Peters some time to develop in live game situations. The offense can't be much worse than it already is, so why not see if he responds?
October 14th, 2017 at 4:23 PM ^
I'm not going to say "Peters should start." But I will say Peters must suck if the coaches aren't even considering him. Frankly, I would think a true freshman could match O'Korn because O'Korn plays like a talented true freshman.
October 14th, 2017 at 5:35 PM ^
Then again, he was hand-picked by Harbaugh so he must have some redeeming qualities. We saw for ourselves that he has a good arm and can make the throws. The rest is a mystery people want to see as there is no mystery about O'Korn's performance. Today's performance isn't going to cut it vs. PSU.

lol, at this rate with the logic these "OKORN, no wait, Peters! for QB" folks have, the best QB on the roster is the Nth string.
Limit as x--->infinity of QB(x) = DNE people.
October 14th, 2017 at 5:51 PM ^
Then stick with JOK and take your fucking 7-5 record at best with 7-6 after a shitty bowl game. Enjoy. Because JOK sucks. Period. Not a good QB. Even Houston didn't want him. But yeah, everyone keep sucking that dick of the Quarterback Whisperer because the infallible Football God never makes a mistake on a QB.

do ya feel better now, sweetie?

Yeah. I feel great princess. Now take the dick out of your mouth for a bit so your lips don't get chapped.

I know you're the mgoblog insider, but I also know there's no reason to expect someone from going from apparently terrible to good from season 2 to 3. The hope is clearly for McCaffrey now.

I don't give a shit about red shirts. I thought this was supposed to be a meritocracy. I don't want to hear that word used around here anymore if the argument is going to be we have to save him or anyone else. JOK is bad and by bad I mean , not good. So let's not keep doing the same thing over and over again. Let's try something else.

Look at UCLA offensive stats, regular and advanced, I'd take Fisch back in a heartbeat and can Drev and Pep.
October 14th, 2017 at 4:22 PM ^
A lot of that is Rosen, their running game is still terrible. Not sure if Fisch is the solve.
October 14th, 2017 at 4:30 PM ^
Fisch pass game was deadly in 2015 when Rudock got in rythm. I'll take his pass offense with a Harbaugh run game.
October 15th, 2017 at 8:37 AM ^
Jedd Fisch had Okorn last year. How did Okorn look last year? The same as he looked this year. Give Harbaugh Josh Rosen and Michigan WILL be in national championship game vs Bama this year.
