I see zero advantage of…

I see zero advantage of sitting Johnson considering the length of time between now and a potential CFP game.

if he’s close to healthy, he plays.  If not, he sits.
I don’t look at this game as Michigan vs a cupcake.  It’s still a team ranked in the top 20.

Thank you.  I appreciate the…

Thanks, Mike

Beilein did not have bad…

Beilein did not have bad seasons after year 3.  The program Beilein took over was in much worse shape than what Howard took over.  Really night and day.

His worst season was 16-16 in 2014-15.

so no, Beilein’s teams generally got better throughout his Michigan coaching career.

Does Edwards count?

We…

Does Edwards count?

We obviously saw what he could be as a receiver out of the backfield.  However, I think we will get to see the entire package of what he brings to the position this season.  This kid is going to be a game changer for Michigan this season.  I firmly believe he will be the lead the team in rushing yards AND finish in the top 3 in receptions.

Michigan is going to have to…

Michigan is going to have to stick with enough of the running game to keep Georgia honest.  I have absolutely 100% confidence that the staff will come up with a way to attack the Georgia d-line.
The Michigan offensive line has some big boys.  I can’t wait to watch the chess match up front.

Who cares what they think or…

Who cares what they think or say.  The game will be decided on the field.  Honestly, the only thing that matters is Michigan’s collective performance on Saturday night.

They won the National…

They won the National Championship less than 12 months ago.  They are 11-1 on the year.  Doesn’t matter what the wins look like, they are 11-1.  They are in the SEC championship again.  Exactly 1 win from another CFP.  Oh, let us not forget that they had 36 players drafter last year (only a slight exaggeration for effect).  They have 7 seniors on this team and they currently have the #2 recruiting class in America per 247.

If someone was going to seize control of the SEC West then it would have been this season AND it still didn’t happen.

I feel fairly confident in saying Alabama will be just fine moving forward.

It’s electric in here.

It’s electric in here.

I’m bringing the family up…

I’m bringing the family up from Alabama. Best place to park?  Golf course?  Pioneer?  I’d like to grab breakfast, however, I’m sure it’s going to be a circus  on Saturday morning.

I am open to any suggestions/recommendations.

going to get into AA by 8:00-8:15 AM.

I have told myself a…

I have told myself a thousand times that Michigan will not win this game.  I have thought about almost every ‘if they…’ scenario, and every time I come back to the fact that OSU is just a better team and more talented team.

But the best team doesn’t always win.  If they play 10 times OSU probably wins 8 of 10.  BUT this year’s team is exactly that, a TEAM.  A group of guys that play with a togetherness I have not seen from Michigan in a long time (maybe the 2016 team and well before that).  The self leadership of this group seems off the charts.  The captains of this year’s team should be commended for an exceptional job leading by example.

harbaugh and this staff have put this team in a position to win each and every week.
They don’t have to win a best of seven series.  Hell, they don’t even have to win 4 quarters.  The only thing that matters now is being ahead when the clock reads 4th quarter :00.
Just one win on November 27.

Go Blue

This has to be one of the…

This has to be one of the most significant  Michigan vs OSU games played.  I can only think of a few times when both teams have been ranked this highly.  So much at stake for both teams.

Thank you mgoblog board.

Thank you mgoblog board.

I was able to secure my tickets.  Thank you Brian and John.
I can’t wait for the game.  Go Blue!!

Thank you.  Worst case scenario I buy them from stub hub etc

Well done.  I am hoping for…

Well done.  I am hoping for similar luck.

Yes, I am hoping to find…

Yes, I am hoping to find someone who is very generous here.  Doesn’t hurt to check

You are 100% correct.  It’s…

You are 100% correct.  It’s gonna be an expensive weekend.

it’s worth it.  It’ll be nice taking our daughter and my old man to a huge game at the big house.

No you aren’t

No you aren’t

Please stop using the word …

Please stop using the word ‘us’ when talking about Michigan football.  You have absolutely zero impact on the program and its ability to beat OSU or not.

you don’t play for the team and it’s highly question if you are actually a fan of Michigan football.

also, like someone mentioned above, go fuck yourself because you are giant douche bag.  If you are an actual fan, you are the absolute worst type of fan.  Fan since 2013…go suck a bag of dicks.

To the original poster.

To the original poster.

a pump is not fool proof.  Our daughter will have issues from time to time with her site.  She is an active 10 year old, so she will occasionally catch or accidentally pull on the tubing which can remove her site.  it’s still a good idea to keep your supplies nearby just in case.

sorry for being ‘that guy’ but I get fairly passionate about T1D.  It’s Amazing how a parents life can change in a matter of minutes.

Kind of a different subject,…

Kind of a different subject, but Vertex Pharmaceuticals just released data on a T1D patient in its phase 1/2 trial.
Our daughter (9 at the time) was diagnosed on January 7th 2020.  She currently uses the Dexcom CGM and Tandem pump.  It’s great, but my wife and I keep up hope for a cure in her lifetime.  If you ever feel inclined to donate, the JDRF does an amazing job with its summer camps for T1D children.

anyway, he is a some of the information from the first patient (although this does not say it, I read in another article the the pancreas began to produce insulin again)

’Data from the first person dosed with VX-880, Vertex Pharmaceuticals' (NASDAQ:VRTX) pancreatic islet cell replacement therapy for people with type 1 diabetes, showed a 91% decrease in daily insulin requirements.

The result was seen after a single infusion and at half of the target dose. The patient was also receiving immunosuppressive therapy.

Results also showed that the patient exhibited strong improvement in glucose control.’

Fair point

 But if that’s…

Fair point

But if that’s the case take an extra 8 seconds and type that specifically.

Don’t be a jackass.  Wish…

Don’t be a jackass.  Wish the kid well and move on.

For you to act like Michigan is above recruiting the current composite 180th player in the country is just dumb.  To say Michigan is above landing a kid like this simply makes zero sense.

It depends on your…

It depends on your interpretation of success.  Is success beating OSU and MSU but still losing 3+ games every year?  Or is competing for National Championships success?  Everyone has to decide that for themselves.  I’m simply pointing out that Harbaugh’s season ending totals are not out of line with who Michigan is historically.

my gut also tells me that 10-3 would be acceptable to you if they beat MSU and OSU.  So my question for you would be this, would you be pleased if Michigan beat OSU and still ended up with 3-4 losses?  Because to me the goal in modern college football is to compete for a berth in the CFP and not a spot in the Rose Bowl.

using Tom Brady vs Bama is a poor example as Bama has destroyed Michigan the past two times they have played.  And honestly, that was 21 years ago!!

also, I never said Michigan was not competitive.  I simply pointed out that people have a higher opinion of who Michigan is historically than what the results have been on the field.

Dotslashderek, that’s the…

Dotslashderek, that’s the key, beating OSU on a semi regular basis will change the perception among the fan base.

it would be interesting to see what the feeling would be with several wins against OSU but finishing with a 10-3 record?

Living in Alabama it is interesting that Auburn has its fair share of wins vs Saban/Alabama.  It’s time for Harbaugh/Michigan to do the same vs OSU.  I believe Michigan is much closer than the last couple of beatings suggest. I could be completely wrong, but I just have a feeling that things are very close to coming together.  Fingers crossed as a fan.

‘But legendary Llyod was…

‘But legendary Llyod was amazing and won a National championship’.  5 conference championships.  Very true.

He also averaged over 3 losses a year.  He also lost to Appalachian State.

9-4, 8-4, 12-0, 10-3, 10-2, 9-3, 8-4, 10-3, 10-3, 9-3, 7-5, 11-2, 9-4.

Lloyd Carr was inducted into the Michigan Hall of Honor in 2015 based on a Spectacular 1997 season and a bunch of 3+ loss seasons.

I’m just trying to be fair and balanced.  That record is not substantially different than Harbaugh’s.

3.8 is the answer.  3.8…

3.8 is the answer.  3.8 losses per year on average over the past 30 years.

I hope that is a large enough sample size.  I can do more and it won’t make the number smaller.  Several more 4 loss seasons and a 6 loss season to offset the 10-1-1 1985 season.

but hey, Harbaugh is clearly the problem.

hearts lie.  Numbers not so much.

You are what your record…

You are what your record says you are.  One average season might be a fluke…two maybe…but 30 years?  Michigan is a modern day average football team.  They average about 4 losses a year.

and please spare me the whole ‘but Michigan is the winningest program’.

This is my favorite opinion…

This is my favorite opinion from the fan base.  ‘Some of us expect better’

again, go look at the yearly record for the past 30-35 years.  How many truly big wins are there?  This is not a new phenomena under Harbaugh.  This is Michigan football.

well, I expect my children to clean up after themselves and do their chores.  Just because I expect it to happen does not make it realistic.

so sure, fire Harbaugh and hire some other can’t miss coach.  Maybe he will be the guy who suddenly turns Michigan into what many of you think Michigan is as opposed to what they really are.  Most likely he won’t because that is what the past 30-35 years tells me.

go look it up.  I’m not embellishing the record.  I’m not embellishing the timeframe.  1997 was a long time ago.

Chipper, spot on.  last…

Chipper, spot on.  last season was an absolute dumpster fire but Harbaugh and Michigan have been ‘good’, which is exactly what Michigan football is.

I hate the narrative that Michigan is a football powerhouse and 10-3 in unacceptable…that IS Michigan football traditionally.  People act like the internet doesn’t exist where you can go and look at the yearly record.  I think a lot of people would be surprised if they actually investigated a little bit.

That may sound negative and I don’t mean for it to be.  I will watch every second of every game as I do each and every year because I am a fan who loves that team win or lose.

Pete, it’s not a crime to be…

Pete, it’s not a crime to be excited for Michigan’s football season, although some around these parts believe otherwise.

We are fans.  We love our team.  Absolutely nothing wrong with falling for hype.  I do it every season and I’m proud to admit it.

The better bet is Detroit…

The better bet is Detroit flat out releasing him at some point over the next 2 seasons.  Un tradable

Please explain how that is…

Please explain how that is going to happen?  He is about as close to unmovable as any player in MLB.  He is owed a ton of money over a long period of time with declining offensive production and advancing age and injuries.

just saying trade him doesn’t make it doable.  Retain 90% of his remaining contract and maybe they could trade him for a fringe prospect.

To me it is all about the…

To me it is all about the return.  Why bother trading any of the current roster for another team’s 38th best prospect?

I would rather ride out the rest of the season and try again during the off-season.

or the other option would be packaging say Schoop and Cisnero for a more ‘premium’ prospect.

one potential could be taking back another team’s bad contract.  Much like the Red Wings, the Tigers could weaponize its cap space/luxury tax room.

they don’t need fringe prospects or long range dart throws.  They need guys who are legitimate prospects in exchange for the players they have.

I also do believe NFL draft…

I also do believe NFL draft picks does matter.  Again, if you are a 17 year old WR and can choose OSU, Bama, Clemson, LSU, and Michigan.  I’d assume Michigan wouldn’t fair too well in that battle.

In that case, I imagine that…

In that case, I imagine that list shows a lot of very average production or transferring out.  I’m not being negative.  I feel I am being honest about Michigan’s current clout on ‘the trail’

Seems to be plenty of not…

Seems to be plenty of not drafted.

do you have a similar list for all of the 4-5 star players?  That would be interesting to see if that list is similar.

Hey now, you dropped a good…

Hey now, you dropped a good one in there.  Please elaborate on ‘Nico picking the QB’?

also, Michigan does not have a recruiting problem.  They are consistently among the top 15 and usually closer to the top 10.  The recruiting problem is that fans think Michigan should finish in the top 2 every recruiting cycle.  Be completely honest, if you had a son that was a skill position player that could pick any school, where would you slot Michigan??  I’m guessing it would be about 10-15.  Assuming you can separate being a fan from what the reality of NFL draft picks.  Michigan hasn’t produced many elite WR, RB, QB, TE in the past 15-20 years.

so yeah, OSU, Bama, LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida, Clemson, ND, USC Should all be ranked above Michigan (at least the first 7 listed).

well said.  2 star or 5 star…

well said.  2 star or 5 star, the staff must develop the player to maximize his talent on Saturday’s.  ‘A rising tide raises all ships’.

That’s some funny stuff. …

That’s some funny stuff.  Well done, sir.

Honestly it’s not bad at all…

Honestly it’s not bad at all.  Most people leave me alone.  Michigan is unfortunately an afterthought for most people down here.  It’s all SEC all the time.  The questions I get often are ‘what’s going on with Michigan’ or ‘how do you feel about Harbaugh’.

As for Alabama, it is Saban’s world.  The fans in this state care so deeply about that football team.  Absolutely everything in Tuscaloosa is geared towards winning football games.  Nobody steps out of line and everybody within the school wants to win.  They have zero infighting amongst the fans/boosters/administration.  Ive been to several games in Tuscaloosa and it is an incredible environment for a 16-18 year old to see.  It’s loud and you can feel the energy plus the football is incredible.  The girls are very good looking when compared to many in the north (warm weather and sun tends to help).

I do not believe anything scandalous is going on; at least anything more than at any other major program.  They simply care more about winning football games at all costs within the university.  Lower academic standards plus the history of success leads to Alabama being able to recruit whoever they want…and that is why they just keep rolling year after year.

Madison Academy is one of…

Madison Academy is one of the state powers in its classification.  MA is more talented than the teams they play in regional play.  They will ultimately face the teams from Birmingham and Montgomery during their annual deep playoff run.

MA usually produces a couple of P5 athletes every year.  The 2021 team seems to have at least 2-3 D1 players.

I will watch them play my kids school.  Should be fun to watch him play

UMBig11, please take note…

UMBig11, please take note that this is a much better way to provide criticism.  You can criticize without being a complete jerk.

Magnus, thank you for providing your insight.

The NHL is a different beast…

The NHL is a different beast with the salary cap.  The wings had an all star team a couple of years.

with the cap it’s about drafting and development of those picks.  A team can’t afford to sign a bunch of free agents to inflated contracts.  That is a recipe for disaster.  Draft, develop, resigning some of those guys and having discipline to walk away or trade some pending free agents.

I don’t understand the…

I don’t understand the Gallant love.  Sure he has had a couple good years as a head coach.  However he has also coached 3 teams for 3 years each.  If he was that phenomenal then why was he fired so quickly at each stop??

Last year Detroit was…

Last year Detroit was absolutely horrible. Zero coaches out there (past or future) was going to get that roster to the playoffs.  What’s so great about being an 8 seed and being swept in the first round?

just be bad and take the higher draft pick.  There is no place worse than being perpetually stuck in the middle as an average team.

for once I think the Detroit teams are doing it correctly.  Take it all the way down and rebuild and develop through the draft.  Fill in the gaps via free agency when the time is right.

I agree with you.  Not many…

I agree with you.  Not many coaches are going to have a substantially better record with the lack of top to bottom talent he is faced with currently.  Blashill is not the reason Detroit has not been relevant for the last 5 years.

I’ll admit that maybe Blashill was correct about Mantha.  The team as a whole played much better after the deadline.

I’m not a huge Blashill fan, but I also don’t have a slam dunk hire that is going to make this team contenders next season.  2 more seasons and it’s time to start winning games consistently once again.

This is a textbook example…

This is a textbook example of moving the goalposts.  What you expressed earlier was a poor opinion.  Own it and don’t change your argument.

Also, this has zero to do…

Also, this has zero to do with Michigan football from a ‘what’s wrong with this program standpoint’.

it actually falls squarely on Kansas for hiring les miles...or on lsu for not firing him with cause so Kansas wouldn’t have hired him.  Kansas hired Buffalo’s coach and Unfortunately this has set off a domino effect which could ultimately negatively affect Michigan’s coaching staff.

So you are saying a position…

So you are saying a position coach/co coordinator should turn down a chance to become a head coach because he has only spent 3 months at his current job?
