Also, still a whole year out from Bailey. Isaiah Wilson was 5 weeks before signing day, and that really felt like a kick in the gut. Having Wilson against Ohio State could have made it a slightly different game (Only because Steuber gave up a sack on the second play, which took Michigan out of 2nd and 3 to 3rd and 9. Driving there may have set a bit of a different tone that game. JK we still get skullfucked).

Harbaugh's inability to recruit his choice of elite QB is one of the most surprising aspects of his tenure here. He did well with Peters (sigh) and McCaffrey but after that, we're definitely not getting our share of the cream of the crop.

I guess bad weather and "man balling" 20 passes a game isn't appealing to the five star QB set.

Guys he recruited?  Michigan was a QB dumpster fire when he arrived.  He had to get a couple grad transfers, one worked out (Rudock) and one didn't (Okorn). Shea was pretty darn good. His only QB recruit that played any appreciable time, Peters, may or may not work out.  McCaffery looks to be the real deal.  Too soon to tell on Milton and of course McNamara.

Not making any excuses, but from where Michigan was in 2015 to where they are now is light years difference at EVERY position.  When the succession of great QB's from here on out start their parade to the NFL (Patterson, McCaffery, Milton, ETC), all of you doubters can stay off the bandwagon.

"Forced into action before he was ready."

I know Peters wasn't quite at Fromm's or Lawrence's level but they were TRUE freshman stars.  I would have expected redshirt-freshman Peters to be the next man up when Speight went down by that measure, especially with a less-pass-happy offense.

This is true, but the Oline last year would have made Fromm and Lawrence look like busts.  Sorry, but even the first game this year saw Shea got rocked.  Of course, as the year went on, things changed dramatically for the better.  Thank god they did.  If Warinner continues to improve the offensive line play, Michigan QB's are going to look a lot better.  I honestly wanted to see Peters get more play after McCaffrey went down.  Be nice to see him behind a solid offensive line.

People are downvoting this and maybe it could have been worded better, but your point is accurate. Harbaugh developed three positions exceptionally well at Stanford: QB, Tackle and tight end. And yet he seems to be struggling to recruit all three of those positions rather inexplicably.
