Harbaugh Fires Back at Alabama Coach

Submitted by HelloHeisman91 on

I love that he didn't call him by name.

"Amazing" to me- Alabama broke NCAA rules & now their HC is lecturing us on the possibility of rules being broken at camps. Truly "amazing."

It's like he swore an oath to be silent for a year, and now he's blasting at full bore. I confess, I'm not a huge fan of this sort of thing. I wouldn't advise it if I were asked. Part of me thinks this is too harsh. But this is the ride we're on, so WOOOOOO let's enjoy every hill! I wasn't asked, so might as well roll with the other part of me that's bugging out like that one looping gif I auto-upvote. Burn!

I watched Saban in that video, and he basically insulted Harbaugh and his integrity.  I'm glad Harbaugh fired back!..ESPECIALLY considering that shady snake Saban is claiming the moral high ground.  Pffffft, please.

“I don’t know how much it benefits anybody, aight,” Saban said. “Because all the people that say this is creating opportunities for kids, this is all about recruiting. That’s what it’s about, aight. … And what’s amazing to me is somebody didn’t stand up and say, ‘Here’s gonna be the unintended consequences of what y’all are doing.’”

"I'm not blaming Jim Harbaugh," Saban said. "I'm saying it's bad for college football. Harbaugh can do whatever he wants to do if he thinks that's what's best. There needs to be somebody who looks out for what's best for the game, not the SEC or the Big Ten or Jim Harbaugh. But what's best for the game of college football. The integrity of the game.

"The coaches, players and people who play it. That's bigger than all this. Now who does that? Now because we have the Power 5, everyone is doing what they want. There needs to be a [college football] commissioner."

Saban was asked whom he would want as commissioner.

"I don't have a candidate," Saban said. "I'm not into politics."

what or who Alabama has in their pocket that they can break NCAA rules with recruiting violations and stand out in the open and lecture teams about possible recruiting violations especially teams that have never been accused of this. I mean why is he not worried about this DL coach and the possible negative results. Seems to me it would be a good time to SHUT YOUR MOUTH and pretend that you think like the rest of the country that satellite camps are good for college football.

Serious question for the board. Does this mean Harbaugh thinks we're gonna be really good this year? Like really really good, so good that we can back up all the talk with an incredible product on the field?

He was way, way more quiet last year when it seemed like he didn't know the type of team he was going to be able to put on the field. Is he more confident and more vocal as a result of having a better team now? Or does he not give a shit either way and would have talked more last offseason if the circumstances called for it?

I think it's a mixture of things. I think Harbaugh thinks we'll be national title contenders next year (he walked off the field in the Citrus Bowl talking about how "next year, we win it all" and in press conferences and the like, he sounds like he loves this team). However, I also think Harbaugh just DOESNT GIVE A FUCK and will call out anybody who talks shit about him or his program.

No, I don't think it necessarily means that at all. As Harbaugh sees it, his integrity and the integrity of the Michigan program were being questioned. When he sees a wrong, he stands up to it. It doesn't matter whether he thinks Michigan could beat Alabama this year. He doesn't run from a fight. Period.

Exactly.  Harbaugh is a man of prnciple.  He does not calculate his every move for some ulterior motive.

He saw Saban smearing his program while being a blatant hypocrite at the same time and called him out on it.

The real shame is that Harbaugh had to be the one to do it instead of sports "journalists" who's job it is to do it.

I hate that this piece of shit can simply say "scoreboard" though and sort of shut us up. Let's hope Harbaugh can go on a Saban-like run over the next ten years, but the right way of course.
