Guess the score, win respect. Michigan vs Minnesota

I suppose you could say this topic was covered further down the board under “Pickin and Grinin” but dammit, Michigan vs Minny deserves its own post.

Game time weather forecast: 29 degrees, slight wind, 20% chance of snow. It’s gonna be a cold one.

My top 3 thoughts/keys to the game.

1. I believe Joe Milton is the answer at QB. We are going to see great things tonight.

2. Minny is likely slightly overrated. Still dangerous nonetheless.

3. Though quite cold, the weather won’t be a huge factor.

Michigan wins easily, Minny adds a late touchdown to make it look respectable.

34-17

Defense is weaker than we think esp with the CB situation. MN takes advantage often and we either see an adjustment from Don brown Or a massive slaughter through the air. We don’t adjust well usually and I think Milton will struggle In his first real outing. 42-17 MN

We know nothing Jon Snow. It could be any of the 4 outcomes without much surprise (blowout either way, close game either way).

Homer pick:

Michigan: 27

Minnesota: 24

Doom and gloom pick:

Minnesota: 34

Michigan: 20

I'm not confident in the offense in cold weather and the defense will bust at least once as they are ought to do. If Minnesota comes out hot, I don't know how the team will react.

I can get my homely mug on cardboard in the Stadium if I get closest to the actual score, so I’ll have to dust off my Stats 311 book to algorithmatically peruse all your fine guesses to establish my prediction.

When Michigan wins, it will bring the record in the last 50 Little Brown Jug games to 44-6.  Let's go with that as the ffinal score. Either that, or it's the hi-low temperature forecast for Saturday in Minny.

Unfortunately, I agree. Barring covid related illness affecting other key players for Minny.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see Minny blow M out. The offense simply has too much to replace. Unless Milton has truly made a dramatic improvement from last year, I don’t see how M can keep up bc there is no way M shuts Bateman down completely.

Michigan 17 - Minnesota 10

(Hold on. If I post every single permutation, up to 50 on each side, one of them would be right. So: respect. Plus, if I do each one in a different post, I'd rack up the points.)

Minnesota will get their points.  Hard to say we will shut them down with an experienced QB and great WR in Bateman.  We will need to outscore them.  Year 2 of Gattis offset by Milton growing pains.  I think we can and will outscore them.

There's SOOO much we don't know about this Michigan team. The offense has the most question marks. The curtain goes up finally this evening. On the other side of the ball, we know Minny has had an explosive offense and they have many of the pieces in the place this year. I think Don Brown's squad will be up to the task and limit the scoring.

I'll go Mich 31, Minny 28. It could be a 60 min nail biter. The trend says to go over 60 total points scored in this game.

30-13 Minnesota.  Not as bad as the score looks, they will get a score off a stupid defensive play or a fuck up on offense that gives them a short field.

I think it will be close, MN 31 - UM 29. UM will be leading 29-28 (they got a safety in the first half) with a minute left but two big pass plays get MN into field position for last second FG and they kick a 50 yarder with no time left on the clock. But I think Joe looks good, so there will be hope going forward.

24-20. the jug stays in A2. ball security and ball control offense will be key, especially if it snows.  losses on Gopher Oline will be too much for them to overcome.

The real question is once Michigan wins will everyone consider this a road win against a ranked team? Or will history be re-written once Minny loses again and drops out of the rankings, causing this to just be a “bad” road win?

26-23 Minnesota...Harbaugh's road record vs decent teams inspires zero confidence.  Please make me eat crown Jim thanks.

I also have this nagging suspicion that Fleck is a better coach than Harbaugh which I hope is proven wrong today.

Michigan 45

Minnesota 3

I believe Minnesota is overrated. Michigan has more talent and better coaching. This game will not be close. I will even say Minny scores first and Michigan scores 45 unanswered.

Michigan 44, Minnesota 17.  Hoping for respect though told hope is not a stategy.

Does anyone know if Dan Dierdorf will make trip to broadcast the game on radio ?
