Greatest game sign of all time

Submitted by IllegalShift on

Last night's GoDaddy.com bowl had the greatest sign ever in the history of game day signs.

A 1-armed (yes, a guy with 1 arm) guy was holding up a sign that read "I Gave Up My Right Arm For Gus Malzahn".

Comedic genius. @LSUFreek even photoshopped the sign a few times.

As long as it's him (the guy with one arm) making fun of it...I see NO problem. Went from "in poor taste" to "absolutely AWESOME!" when I looked harder into the picture and saw the guy literally had one arm.

For worst signs.  MSU beat Michigan this year, those signs look moronic because of it.  State won the division this year, making that sign even more stupid.  And worst of all it shows Michigan fans holding up a sign about Michigan State at a Michigan game.

When fans take the time to put down other schools before cheering for themselves it is always stupid.  It's "little brother-ish" as some would say.  It's like State fans wearing more App. State gear than actual Michigan State gear.  Root for your team and give credence to the fact that you care more about what is happening to some other team than your own.

I root for Michigan, and other fans should root for their team, especially at games in which their team plays.

Sparty has cried each of the last two years about not getting to the Sugar Bowl, "losing" the berth first to Ohio and then Michigan.  When a Sparty player used the leverage of having a microphone in front of his face to whine in the press about his belief that Michigan didn't deserve to be there, it made Sparty "fair game."

If this was the days when Sparty was just another midlevel Big Ten team that beat Michigan one year out of three and never did much else, the "we should ignore Sparty" argument would be valid.  In case anyone out there hasn't noticed, Sparty has won the last four meetings with Michigan.  That renders the arguments that we should all use the ostrich approach with Sparty invalid.

A Sparty player used his leverage to tell football fans that Michigan "doesn't deserve to be in the Sugar Bowl."  Some Michigan fans used a moment of even greater leverage to tell the country that "Sparty Nation" is a bunch of whiners.  As will be the case more often soon, Michigan got the best of that exchange.

Because of the hatred Sparty espouses and their competition for the same recruits, what's good for Michigan is bad for Sparty and vice-versa.  Sparty wanted to be a true rival: they got it.  Michigan now has to pay as much attention to the rivalry as Sparty does.  I am happy to see the fans taking the opportunity to belittle Sparty on national TV.  They are richly deserving of the "honor."

Another good one I saw back in the day when Michigan hosted MSU (probably late 90's/early2000's) on ABC:

A-lready

B-urning

C-ouches

In East Lansing.  GO BLUE!

The best sign I ever saw was when James "Fly" Williams played basketball for tiny Austin Peay State University in Tennessee.  The sign read: The Fly is open, let's go Peay"!

Back when Marv Albert was being charged with a litany of harrassment claims (including biting a woman, cross-dressing, among others), this gem was at Michigan Stadium the week after, for a game televised on ABC:

A-lbert

B-ites

C-hicks

During pre-game, even the ABC cameraman (sideline cart guy) was laughing at that one...

My longtime favorite is from a Vikings game some years back. They had changed QB's from Warren Moon the year before to Brad Johnson. Hence the sign:

YOU'VE SEEN OUR MOON

NOW GET A LOAD OF OUR JOHNSON

Dan Deardorff was trying so hard not to say anything unseemly.

Honorable mention, from a college Gameday show sometime this season where they're all holding up signs behind Desmond, Fowler et al.:

MY ARMS ARE TIRED

There was one back in the 60's (I think) at a nationally broadcast Notre Dame - Navy game.  Notre Dame fan had a sign that said:

We've Busted the Trojans, Now Let's Shoot the Seamen!

Or something to that effect.
