Glad we dodged a bullet & didn't get Terrance Shannon.....
....for all those complaining about him being the missing piece...Shannon gets in deep ruts...no points in regulation against Texas and now 3 points all game in loss to power house Penn State.
Not saying, I wouldn't take him as another option on this Michigan roster but he is far from the instant next piece for a conference championship everyone suggested.

I know there are plenty of reasons to disagree with your opinion.
But I don't understand so many downvotes. You stating it doesn't force anyone to agree. It's just an opinion.

Bro what
December 10th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
I think its called putting the hook in the title
Moreover, you cut the end of my inside sentence explaining that brining him in may have taken away from Kobe's rise as our future at the 2.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:20 PM ^
I think it's called contradicting yourself
December 10th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
Brad Underwood ladies and gentlemen.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:17 PM ^
That's the kind of coach I want to play for!
December 10th, 2022 at 4:20 PM ^
Wow, did I not call the dissonance between coach and TJ? I am telling you, there are some serious issues popping up there between TJ and his coach.....TJ really seemed to zombie for chunks of the game. You can all rip on me but remember who called it first.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:44 PM ^
Come on, he just sneezes weird. Go easy on him.
December 10th, 2022 at 6:09 PM ^
Honestly, I wouldn't even expect something like that from Izzo. What a jerk.
December 11th, 2022 at 1:42 PM ^
Wow, that is classic! The next time we're locked into a recruiting battle with the Illini, we should send that clip daily to the player and his parents.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:05 PM ^
I'd still love to have him. But he didn't want to take the extra summer classes to qualify so it is what it is.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:12 PM ^
Youre crazy. The problem with Illinois right now is that they are reinventing their entire team and trying to figure out who their best players are and how to use them. Shannon wasn't built to be a star, he was built to be the ultimate secondary option. Score, defend, rebound, etc. Plug him in to play off Hunter and he'd be fine. Illinois just has so many wild cards that he's the top of the scouting report and he's trying to find his way.
Aso, Underwood is an ass and I wonder if he regrets it now after getting screamed at all game and having his hot head coach make a fart noise in the post game presser when asked about Shannon's leadership.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:21 PM ^
I think OP if you are really wondering what isn’t working for people on your thread it’s the title. Your post was fine. There is nothing wrong with suggesting that maybe a particular player wouldn’t have solved every problem for a particular team. Couching it as “dodging a bullet” on the other hand makes it seem very definitive then you can say for certain the team would’ve been worse off with that player on it. It just seems a little unnecessarily negative and definitive. The truth is, we have absolutely no idea how this player would’ve affected this roster. That said, I’m not all that worked up about your post. Maybe your are right. Maybe you were wrong. This is the internet.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
All valid points, but also keep in mind that my title also may be right. We may literally have dodged a bullet if giving Kobe Bufkin starter minutes leads to him become a breakout player (something I believe to be happening).
December 10th, 2022 at 4:59 PM ^
This guy literally dodges bullets
December 10th, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
The title was horrible and the post was really dumb. When one relies on oversimplification and anecdotal fallacies to support an argument one has come up with out of their own boredom and thrusted it on a fandom like it was necessary piece of information…it’s why folks like me leave this blog for long stretches. Thank god, he started getting dragged.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:25 PM ^
Title made me think Shannon had done something criminal and horrible, but no, it's just some butthurt prick whining about nothing.
December 10th, 2022 at 4:31 PM ^
OP seems to be comparing Shannon to the best in the game, instead of to the people on our roster who he would be playing instead of. It can be true that he would have been a huge addition who would have made Michigan much better, and also true that he's only very good, not a transcendent player
December 10th, 2022 at 4:37 PM ^
LOL, I have literally compared him to Bufkin (who I believe is still on the roster playing his position) in five different posts and made no other comparison.
Has Kobe now joined JJ McCarthy as a non-entity for the MGoBlog Bros?
December 10th, 2022 at 5:07 PM ^
Exactly - he wouldn't be playing instead of Bufkin. Last I checked we need more than 1 guard, and right now Bufkin is our only good one (barring McDaniel's one good game against Minnesota). Wouldn't it be nice to have a better player playing alongside Bufkin instead of McDaniel or the non-guards we're being forced to play there?
December 10th, 2022 at 5:26 PM ^
Again, people are confusing the currently shot handed point guard position as somehow related to a player (TJ Shannon) who may actually be a better fit at center or any position but the point.
We actually are starting to have some depth at the 2 and 3 slot that Shannon would have played. Look how hard it has been to get time for Barnes despite him shooting lights out from the 3 every time he has been on the court.
Honestly, if we had our choice of an Illini player, I would definitely take Mayer. Him at the 4 would plug our biggest weakness on offense and he is no worse than our defenders at that spot. Then again, Andre Curbelo transferring here from Illini (instead of St. Johns) might have helped the team more as well. What is my point...again, that we need to get over the idea that TJ Shannon is the missing link to a UM championship season.
December 10th, 2022 at 6:18 PM ^
You want to play Shannon at center and think Curbelo is a useful player? Yeah, you are a moron.
December 10th, 2022 at 5:02 PM ^
He's a talented guy who would take a ton of pressure off everyone to initiate the offense and would also be a plus defender. Yes he's not perfect but UM has a really short bench and without Llewellyn they're going to be forced to play guys longer than you'd like just to have some offensive flow out there.
December 10th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
All things considered, I would much rather have Shannon on the team.
December 10th, 2022 at 5:33 PM ^
Terrible take. And Underwood should grow a pair and stop imitating Tom Izzo on the sideline by yelling at everyone within 20 feet when your team is getting blown out by Penn State on your home court
December 10th, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
This is why those are jumping off the ledge need to chill the fuck out. ITS BASKETBALL! Teams lose at home to terrible teams. Beilein lost games like this multiple times. Juwan and Co will be fine. We are gonna continue improving as the season goes along. Go Blue!
December 10th, 2022 at 5:40 PM ^
OP is the guy that wanted us to fire Harbaugh
December 10th, 2022 at 8:03 PM ^
What? I have never once suggested we fire Harbaugh. I was overseas and not even posting for the whole COVID year when that was the popular view here.
December 10th, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
Absurd take.
December 10th, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
Check back in February when he has more experience with a new team
December 10th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
This a room temperature IQ kind of thread. UM has some of the dumbest basketball fans on the planet.
December 10th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
I'll assume you've been dragged for this, but this take is utterly stupid
December 10th, 2022 at 6:50 PM ^
Oooooh, good thing we only measure the skill of a player by their “deep ruts.”
He’s the leading scorer on a Top 25 ranked team, while we have a backcourt that, if Shannon gets in deep ruts, digs trenches.
I’d welcome a guy who scores 19ppg despite his “deep ruts.” Seems like can still get really hot and score double digits against Texas. Better than pre-injury Llewelyn.
Why are you cherry-picking stats on a player who didn’t come here and shutting on him? I’m pretty sure, if he was here, he’d have helped us in the games we lost due to have two guys who are the offense and a bunch of question marks. Imagine having a guy who, when Hunter or Jett were cold May actually be able to score.
December 10th, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
I think we just to tell Dug to keep going 3/3 on 3s and we will be fine. Don’t know why more schools don’t tell their guards to do this.
December 10th, 2022 at 8:06 PM ^
I have wondered if Caleb Houstan left because of Jett. Jett is fantastic. Glad he’s here.
But I have never been a fan of Terrence Williams’ game. I find him to be very limited and M is probably already getting the most out of him they will get.
Then I imagine having Houstan in T-Will’s spot, and holy hell does M have something at that point. I could play PG with that crew and things would still go well.
December 11th, 2022 at 7:45 AM ^
yah, i’m sure his “deep ruts” have nothing to do with the fact that he’s playing for the second-biggest turd in the conference. why anyone would choose to play for that guy is mystifying.
December 11th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
So you say we dodged a bullet but you'd take him? Seems self-contradictory.
