The Polar bear – also known as Ursus maritimus – is the largest terrestrial carnivore, whereas the Grizzly bear – the North American brown bear – is the second largest terrestrial flesh-eating mammal

But the Gatlan Bair is undisputably the fastest.

Thanks for posting.  I'm excited to get him.  I'm going to hold off on the highlights until the Summer of '26.  Don't want to get too excited.  He would be really nice on next years team.

Would you mind reposting the link then?  :)

1.  It is unfair to have a 6'2" kid who runs a [4.2x] 40 playing against 5'8" DBs who probably run 5.0 40s.

2.  You can tell that the coach has been gifted a sensational athlete and is trying to figure out every possible way to use him.  WR, RB, jet sweep, halfback pass after he's swarmed by the D, everything on defense.

3. It is unfair to have a 6'2" kid who runs a [4.2x] 40 playing DE against slow footed ID QBs.

4.  Most impressive play for me is when Blair is playing [DE] and he recognizes the screen pass almost immediately and makes the play.  Shows that he has some football smarts on top of his athletic abilities.

Do want.

Good points. I did see him making some good contested catches, even while being interfered with, in there as well, so he's not just a speed guy.

Also maybe I don't know HS football rules, but are you not allowed to jam WRs at the line? Because running press man coverage against one of the fastest kids in the country AND not jamming him seems like coaching malpractice.

Appears to be a very driven young man as well.  Decided to focus on football (only) as a Senior so he focused on track as a Junior.  He posted the 2nd (?) fastest HS time in the US for the year.  He ran a 10.18 100m (wind aided) and several in the 10.2s.  For reference - Denard's best time in the 100 was 10.56........ Xavier Worthy's was 10.55.

I thought I read that Boise promoted an assistant after firing Avalos.  Dunno if that "continuity" would have any impact on Bair's decision.

Regardless, with his mission trip it'll be a long while before he's on anyone's campus.

He treats the safeties like they are not even there.  It’s like his route is just set up to beat the db and that is easily done with his speed.  Impressive

From NeverPunt earlier in the thread:

Is press coverage different from jamming?  Cause these seem completely opposite.

I honestly had never really watched his highlights, but his acceleration is insane. I always thought he probably just had good long speed, but his acceleration and change of direction to get separation is crazy

I commented the first time we posted this. Idaho competition has a way of making people look really good - especially speed. But Bair’s track times are objectively absurd. He’s legit. We would get him in 26 and maybe would need a redshirt year so this is the slow-cooker set it and remember it when the timer goes off kinda thing fwiw
