That was over a week ago. Sure, they've lost games and played like shit against garbage teams as recently as a week ago, but really we should only be considering what teams did in their last game of the season to determine who gets in.

Oh wait, that's fucking stupid just like this decision.

If you were a CFP committee member that was always going to be the case.  You are going to devastate somebody.  You are signing up for that.  If had you left out Alabama, those players would have been devastated too after beating the #1 team.

You have to make your pick the best you can.  You are never going to be able to prevent disappointment and anger.

Screw the playoff committee and screw the SEC. There were 3 undefeated teams, and they screwed it up. It should have been the easiest decision in the world to put all 3 in, and then the controversy would have been for the 4th spot. So stupid.

At this point no reason to play games. How does a team win there conference championship game as an undefeated and fall in the rankings. I think the old BCS was better. It would have been Georgia vs Michigan for the national championship. Both teams had undefeated regular seasons.

Respectfully let it go. Michigan was royally screwed in 1997 as well. Focus on Bama and what it will take to win the game. SEC and OSU bias isn't leaving anytime soon.....sadly

I think the point is that… Michigan found out today it is the #1 seed and is going to be playing in its first Rose Bowl in 16 years and facing a historically great program in an absolutely massive game.

Why are we talking about Florida State?  I understand why Florida State would be talking about Florida State.  Trust me, if Michigan got left out of the CFP not one person would shed a tear for us.

Why is everyone not super pumped about our game?

Both things were still in play. If the loss of Travis and the effort vs Florida was enough to keep them in front of bama and especially Texas ( Florida state conf championship win vs Top 15, Texas vs unranked ok state ) is Bush league. the Tone needed to be set a week ago.

If you take the committee's reasoning at face value - that FSU was a top-four team with Travis and isn't now - that would seem to make a strong case for him to win the Heisman.  (He also outperformed Daniels when their teams played.)

Does anyone really think TCU was one of the four best teams last year? Even after they beat Michigan?

The language of "best" is in their mandate, but they haven't followed that obsessively before. The committee probably did pick the four best teams, but I'm totally opposed to the idea that the most deserving teams shouldn't make the playoffs.

Do we eventually just do away with rankings, adopt the pro model and go by standings? regardless of who’s injured or who’s playing, your ability to get to the postseason is based solely by winning and losing.

Seems like it’d solve for a lot of problems.

Crazy that he didn't reference Michigan's "scandal" and how FSU should sue the Committee for putting Michigan in when they could have put Florida State in instead. Oh that's right, he's a real person who is sane and has opinions that actually matter, and correctly identifies that the actual travesty was two 1-loss teams getting in over an unbeaten, he's not a Michigan-obsessed maniac posting on 11W or RCMB.

Nobody bitches about NFL playoff participation because there's an understanding that you are what your record says you are. Whether you win a weak AFC South or a really strong NFC West. You are what your records says you are. You get your ticket or you don't. No committees or beauty pageants. No bitching.

That college football has gotten it so wrong for so long and so many in the media especially at ESPN and at Fox are distracted by beauty judgements is proof enough of how broke it is.

These "men" really do bitch like judges at a pageant. They claim criteria now like who would you rather play when everyone and their mother was salivating to play Cincinnati two years ago over almost every other ranked team in the Top 25. They put them in on record back then saying they deserved the chance and that's all. I don't know a single person who would've rather played a 9-3 SEC or Pac-12 school over that undefeated Cincy squad. But Cincy got in. Two years later these caddy men have changed their criteria again. Sickening.

This sport needs to operate like the NFL. That means no more bowl games as well that favor southern teams at all times unless you are USC and playing in Pasadena.

No more committees. You are what your record says you are. No more vestiges of amateurism and pageantry. Records decide all. Period. Team with better record and higher win pct. hosts. Period. The College Superbowl moves host cities annually and not just southern cities either.

We removed all objective computer rankings in favor of a small committee of humans who are entirely subjective.

Should've kept the BCS system in but with playoffs.

I’ve always detested FSU but in this one instance I’m going to root for them in their bowl game.

Unfortunately, and perversely, this may also end up giving Alabama additional “something to prove” incentive, since a large portion of the college football world believes they weren’t worthy of being picked.

There is no purpose in even playing the games anymore.

The CFP made itself a joke with this unjust decision.

Alabama HAD their chance. They lost to Texas during the regular season, and AT HOME!

Alabama won their conference title by beating No. 1 Georgia.

Florida State finished unbeaten, WON their conference title outright, DESPITE losing their starting QB.

Going undefeated and winning you conference title outright no longer matters unless you're an SEC team apparently.
