Former Recruit, Deyvid Palepale, Removed from HS Team
Former Michigan target who took a visit and we received crystal balls for over the summer was removed from his high school team for the post below over the weekend. Palepale eventually committed to USC over Michigan and Penn State in July.
I live in his school district and coach at a nearby district. Hempfield, Palepale's school, had a great season last year with their head coach being named coach of the year. Hempfield is currently 2-5 this season. Many more negative rumors are currently swirling about this situation. One has to wonder what USC's response to this will be.
We constantly remind our players on the team I coach about the power social media can have. It is unfortunate it takes a situation like this to make a point known.

USC's response: *yawn*

USC's response: It's good he's getting experience playing on a defense that sucks.
October 11th, 2023 at 8:44 PM ^
And on a team that sucks more broadly; USC will be a got-dang disaster without Caleb Williams next year.

USC always has talent and Lincoln Riley always has a good offense, they will be fine.

UP to LA, I logged in just to upvote your comment. This cracked me up.

Probably happy he's not going to get hurt.

If they're looking for an underwhelming coach who couldn't follow up a successful season I know a guy who recently became available and might have some time on his hands. Reference checks might be a bit of an issue but I guess cross that bridge when you get there.

Some time on one of his hands, you mean
October 11th, 2023 at 3:36 PM ^
Great joke. I wonder if it might have been better either of these ways, "Some time on his hands" or, for the single-hand technique, 'Some time on his hand."
But that's just me playing in my head (and not with my hands).
Mostly, kudos to you for the joke.

I don’t think it was time that he got on his hand.

Presumably they'll talk to the player and parent(s), they'll talk to the coach, talk to the school. And they'll do their own assessment as to whether it's a big deal or not. Hard to say based on that post and the article just saying "disciplinary reasons".
Also have no idea what USC's decision matrix looks like. Every time I think I can make a reasonable guess I remember that MSU admitted Auston Robertson.

Lol Hempfield. We used to play them every year when I went to Manheim Township (back when they were one of the better schools in the state and were producing some talent). Hempfield is a weird school district where half of it is in the best suburbs of Lancaster, and the other half is hills have eyes redneck meth country.
Living near Mater Dei here in Orange County, I attended one or two of their game in the last 2 years. The level of football they play there was jaw dropping compared to PA.

I'm left wondering if Deyvid's parents considered naming another of their kids "Ghouliath".

Or golyeth downdown

When you lose respect for your leadership it's time to move on, voluntarily or not.
Here's hoping Deyvid finds some adults adulting in his life to guide him in the right direction.
October 11th, 2023 at 4:09 PM ^
Deyvid's side will soon be releasing a number of texts sent between him and his head coach that will show the coach also saying the team sucks and he would be happy if someone would come in and take over coaching.
Deyvid is also being represented by the Law Firm of Foley and Lardner

Lame, I'd still take his commitment. Maybe they should be removing the coach, not the player.
October 11th, 2023 at 4:25 PM ^
Sounds like he's a true team player!
October 11th, 2023 at 4:27 PM ^
If that is all it took to be removed from the team than I'd say the kid is right. Their coach sucks.
October 11th, 2023 at 4:34 PM ^
I think it should be like the movie "Hoosiers," where the whole town gets to vote on whether the coach goes or Deyvid Palepale goes.

I'd prefer the Fugitive where the kid tracks down the one-armed man and proves his innocence
October 11th, 2023 at 4:44 PM ^
USC's response will be something along the lines of, "Cool, so you can enroll early and without the risk of being banged up from the season." That would be my guess.

Bullet, dodged...

I thought you were going to say he cut a fool or something. This is a sit down and talk to the kid thing, not a make a "very serious post" on the blog of a team that previously recruited him kind of thing.
October 11th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Suspend him for a game or 2 but I think the coach power tripped with kicking him off the team.
October 11th, 2023 at 10:11 PM ^
Suspension is the right answer. I’d say two game suspension and an apology to the rest of the team for being a dumb ass. If the team accepts his apology after the suspension, then he gets another chance. If he mouths off again, then he’s gone.

As usual, we don't know the full story. This could be an isolated expression of frustration, or it could be a public expression of an ongoing insubordination and distraction.
October 11th, 2023 at 5:14 PM ^
Kids say the darnedest things, don't they?
(Psst, lesson of the day? Keep it to yourself even though you may be 100% right)
October 11th, 2023 at 5:26 PM ^
While seeming severe at first, you gotta think if the locker room is already toxic and season falling apart, having your star express that on social media means he’s probably more vocal, toxic, or disrespectful to the coaches than what’s been expressed. While this could be a teaching moment, we don’t know the background and regardless of how the season is going, unless kids are in danger or out of control locker room that should be expressed about a coach during the season IMO.

I was expecting something far more beyond the palepale.
October 11th, 2023 at 6:24 PM ^
Yeah. Whatever. For social media this is pretty benign. Plus, if they're 2-5, they do suck.. he's a kid and he'll learn
October 11th, 2023 at 9:16 PM ^
my that comment goes beyond the palepale
October 12th, 2023 at 8:29 AM ^
Handle that in house and no need to make a story of it…wait…dang
October 12th, 2023 at 10:22 AM ^
Yeah,
This is dumb, not a scandal.

LOLOLOL!
There's got to be more to it than the post I hope. Perhaps some face to face issues?
