Former Recruit, Deyvid Palepale, Removed from HS Team

Former Michigan target who took a visit and we received crystal balls for over the summer was removed from his high school team for the post below over the weekend. Palepale eventually committed to USC over Michigan and Penn State in July.

I live in his school district and coach at a nearby district. Hempfield, Palepale's school, had a great season last year with their head coach being named coach of the year. Hempfield is currently 2-5 this season. Many more negative rumors are currently swirling about this situation. One has to wonder what USC's response to this will be.

We constantly remind our players on the team I coach about the power social media can have. It is unfortunate it takes a situation like this to make a point known.

If they're looking for an underwhelming coach who couldn't follow up a successful season I know a guy who recently became available and might have some time on his hands.  Reference checks might be a bit of an issue but I guess cross that bridge when you get there.

Presumably they'll talk to the player and parent(s), they'll talk to the coach, talk to the school.  And they'll do their own assessment as to whether it's a big deal or not.  Hard to say based on that post and the article just saying "disciplinary reasons".

Also have no idea what USC's decision matrix looks like.  Every time I think I can make a reasonable guess I remember that MSU admitted Auston Robertson.

Lol Hempfield. We used to play them every year when I went to Manheim Township (back when they were one of the better schools in the state and were producing some talent). Hempfield is a weird school district where half of it is in the best suburbs of Lancaster, and the other half is hills have eyes redneck meth country.

Living near Mater Dei here in Orange County, I attended one or two of their game in the last 2 years. The level of football they play there was jaw dropping compared to PA.

When you lose respect for your leadership it's time to move on, voluntarily or not.

Here's hoping Deyvid finds some adults adulting in his life to guide him in the right direction.

Deyvid's side will soon be releasing a number of texts sent between him and his head coach that will show the coach also saying the team sucks and he would be happy if someone would come in and take over coaching.

Deyvid is also being represented by the Law Firm of Foley and Lardner

I thought you were going to say he cut a fool or something. This is a sit down and talk to the kid thing, not a make a "very serious post" on the blog of a team that previously recruited him kind of thing.

While seeming severe at first, you gotta think if the locker room is already toxic and season falling apart, having your star express that on social media means he’s probably more vocal, toxic, or disrespectful to the coaches than what’s been expressed. While this could be a teaching moment, we don’t know the background and regardless of how the season is going, unless kids are in danger or out of control locker room that should be expressed about a coach during the season IMO.
