Exit: Brian Cole?

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on
There is noise that Scout.com is saying Brian Cole is done at Michigan. Can anyone confirm?

Michigan freshman tailback Kelly Baraka never played last season after he was arrested for marijuana possession twice, in May and July. Now he will never get his chance to play for the Maize and Blue.

Baraka was dismissed from the team yesterday by head coach Lloyd Carr for undisclosed reasons.

I'm probably going to get negged again, but... I stated a few years ago that Brian Cole was overrated and would not pan out at Michigan. You wouldn't believe how many people thought I was crazy. I hate to see a kid's dream come to an end, but this one isn't much of a surprise.

Actually my high school classmate was one of his teachers at Heritage. She told me about him in 2013 at our class reunion. I was excited to learn where she worked and asked her about him. She didn't know much about him except that he was a great football player. She basically told me that because of his football abilities, he had a big sense of entitlement, was a bit lazy, and had an attitude.

Your premise calling him overrated would imply that he wasn't as talented. Meanwhile he played early this year for Harbaugh and was identified as the best young DB on our roster not named Jabrill during bowl practices...so it's sounds very much like he was NOT overrated. He was on track to play a '15 Dymonte Thomas early to mid-season type role (before Thomas became a starter). In 17 he was on track to start. So it again, how was he overrated coming out of high school? I feel like he was rated appropriately and has a "weed problem."

Uhh. Actually, yes. Knew the kid from Saginaw. Not surprised. I believe I was ridiculed for pointing out how he had been suspended before.

No. I'm just tired of these blog bullies who think they run this site. If anybody posts an opinion that differs from theirs, they have a fit. All I did was mention that this kid has gotten into trouble before, and may not be the 4 or 5 star everyone was hoping for. I'm not bashing him. I knew the kid for a long time. I went to every game. I'm sorry for sharing my honest opinion. I was truly pulling for him to turn things around. I understand how it looks to bring that up, but I needed to prove a point to these pricks on here that think they know all.

You posted an initial condescending post which stated nothing about knowing that he had problems with obeying rules and stated that you always thought he was overrated and would never pan out. And that we should all bow to you now because LOOK HE IS KICKED OFF THE TEAM!
You didn't say anything initially about knowing of his disciplinary issues in the past and asked to be negged.
It was a jackass post...initially.
You're the prick. Not us.

Nice attempt at a recovery, but might just want to accept defeat here. You said Cole was overrated, then said later you are pulling for him but he got in trouble in the past. You can't have it both say since you get called out for a bad post.

You're the prick. I know Brian personally and could post a lot more about his character, etc. but I don't out of respect because he's an 18 year old kid that's obviously going through a tough time. You say you went to all of his games but you've only ever commented on his bad attitude but never his athleticism or football skill. Get out of here with that negativity.
