Emil Ekiyor Not Visiting

Canceled visit for RU game per Nick Baumgardner. Pretty much confirms his decommitment is near. Big bummer.

The last video I watched of him he seemed pretty solid on Michigan. That was right after the Alabama visit. I agree maybe he just has other things going on

There was an article somewhere that said his high school is still in playoff contention down in Indianapolis, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I guess a little more context would probably be in order in this case, or indeed in any case like this, before we say for certain that anyone is going elsewhere. Of course, I am not tuned in to recruiting like others, so it is entirely possible I am blind to the so-called "bad signs" too.

I have to believe that he canceled his visit so that he can do some much-needed matttress shopping this weekend.   If only he knew that we have Art Van Pure Sleep, Mattress Giant and other options, many of which are conveniently located near the stadium.

If we trust Sam for most recruiting things, I’d say it’s basically a done deal that he’s gone. Hopefully the coaches can rebound and bring in some surefire OL talent vs. projects that’ll need 2-3 years of seasoning. Otherwise, I have really high hopes for 2020.

Don't fret. I live near Indy and I know it's not cool to tweet at recruits, but I'll take a more personal approach. I'll meet him at school, decked out in Michigan gear and try to persuade him. I might even introduce him to my friends Mr. Jackson and Mr. Hamilton. /s

Nearly every poster on here has posted something along the lines of "I wish we had a line like Bama" or "I wish we recruited like Bama" or "I wish we ran the ball like Bama" etc etc etc... It'd be pretty hypocritical to blame a recruit for going there. Best of luck to him. I wouldn't want to go to a school that takes players that are apparently NFL caliber offensive linemen, and turns them into below average college offensive line units.

But even if he does decommitt there are always other recruits. The more pressing issue is resolving the staff issues which I think happens in winter. Two OL coaches makes little sense.

That's a loss.  But that's how recruiting goes.  Alabama is pretty attractive challenging for national championships every year.  Harbaugh and Brown will get enough talent for us to compete.  Once our QB situation is in order, we will contend.

Is another swing and miss as he was in part recruiting ekiyor. Jim Harbaugh cannot get elite OL here (ie Wilson, leatherwood - but at least they came for official visits). Ekiyor not even coming here shows how bad OL recruiting has become.

Note: ekiyors twitter 2 days ago he liked a tweet of guy wishing him luck at Bama! It's done so everybody move on.

I really really hope that Drevno moves on after the season. He cannot recruit top OLine talent. Just like Hoke is a DLine coach and nothing more, having Drevno coach and recruit OLine while also being the OC is clearly too much for him. I fear he makes too much money now for a small or medium level HC job to be viable for him.

Drevno please leave!!!

I will never write off a recruit after last year....

Aubrey Solomon said "Fuck Michigan" at one of the HS All America games and ended up in Ann Arbor.  Bama is tought to beat for any recruit, but this staff has pulled off miracles in the past.

If Filiaga develops, Michigans offensive line is in much better shape for the next two years than people realize. Their high 3* lineman are good fits for the blocking schemes they are trying to run. The tackles aren’t imposing but they could be solid pass blockers and move well in run blocking schemes. The will wreck people up middle and open up big holes in the run game if Bredson and Onwenu stay all 4 years. Already seeing evidence of the run blocking clicking. They will be able to sell a much better story to offensive line prospects starting next season.
