Always love a good Star Trek meme

I figure he is going to play for his dad this spring, but maybe that isn't a thing anymore. Perhaps someone can shed some light on deadlines.

Are you required to enter the portal? Or can you just transfer somewhere if you already have a place in mind?
January 21st, 2021 at 6:07 PM ^
Im pretty sure you have to enter the portal and interview with at least one minority head coach. I might be wrong though.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
Yes. It’s the Wayne Rooney rule.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:11 PM ^
I thought it was the Wayne Brady rule.
January 21st, 2021 at 7:46 PM ^
lil wayne rule?
January 21st, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
Which is a variation on the Mickey Rooney rule any time Mickey decided to look for a replacement wife, which was quite often.

Irreverent, but glorious
January 22nd, 2021 at 9:38 AM ^
it looks as though unc will not be playing a spring season. very up in the air. they've opted out of the big sky schedule.
January 22nd, 2021 at 12:32 PM ^
I had a very good source out here in Colorado who had told me he was going to play for his Dad. That was about a month ago so maybe things have changed. Maybe going through the portal is just to make it official so he can play immediately but the timing is odd. I’m guessing at this point he’s had a change of heart and is looking for a P5 landing spot. Good luck to him
January 23rd, 2021 at 8:17 AM ^
Seems like all the "really good sources" said the same thing.
January 21st, 2021 at 5:48 PM ^
I think the most likely explanation is what someone on here once said: He’s going to play for his dad at Northern Colorado, whose season doesn’t start until spring. If the B1G didn’t have a season, as was initially the plan, he could have waited quietly until transferring. Once the B1G brought the season back, he had to sit out to be eligible to play in the spring.
January 22nd, 2021 at 9:41 AM ^
unc is probably not going to have a spring season.
January 21st, 2021 at 5:50 PM ^
Best of luck, Dylan.
January 21st, 2021 at 5:51 PM ^
What could have been. Best of luck young man. Wish it didn't have to end like it did.
January 21st, 2021 at 5:59 PM ^
Watch him go to Iowa State.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:56 PM ^
That's not a bad idea from his perspective. He'll light up the Big 12 for sure. Make himself a 2nd round draft pick or late 1st. lol
January 21st, 2021 at 7:59 PM ^
Only problem is he would have to wait another year to become the starter; I'm like 99% certain DMac wants to start right now.
January 21st, 2021 at 9:05 PM ^
That's a pretty optimistic take as he didn't come close to "lighting it up" in his limited Michigan playing time.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:01 PM ^
If the rumors are true about the family’s opinion on how Harbaugh handled his possible illness then I’d say he was definitely not gonna play under Harbaugh as qb coach.
January 21st, 2021 at 7:03 PM ^
Right...I think the OP was referring to whether or not Harbaugh would be the HC next year. If not, maybe Dylan would have stayed?
January 22nd, 2021 at 2:12 AM ^
I tend to think his mind was made up long ago. Otherwise, he 'd have skipped the season for no good reason.
January 22nd, 2021 at 2:32 AM ^
Crazy ass Brian Kelly learned a few years ago he had to be a little less crazy assed and less purple for the program's greater good. Any chance Harbaugh realized he needs to have a similar self discovery about his idea of football toughness? You can only rub so many people the wrong way until you have to come to a point and say hey, it's not you... it's me.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:03 PM ^
Thanks for the reminder, media! (Nothing against wolverineswire, Isaiah's podcast is great). Does this mean I can hold out hope for Charbonnet coming back?
January 21st, 2021 at 6:04 PM ^
Good bye. Thanks for your work at Michigan. Good luck.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:21 PM ^
WHAT??!
January 21st, 2021 at 6:21 PM ^
Im going to quit paying attention to recruiting. No one I get excited about pans out here. I should start sharing my recruiting preferences with the staff so they can stop recruiting the players I like...undoubtedly would improve the recruiting hit rate. Hope he has success elsewhere
January 21st, 2021 at 6:46 PM ^
I don’t know. You might be underestimating how many players you could be wrong about.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:45 PM ^
Ugh this is a shocker. Guess it’ll be Milton or Cade?
January 21st, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
Long term, Harbaugh would be better off with JJ McCarthy and ride with him but I think Cade gets the starting nod in reality
January 21st, 2021 at 7:56 PM ^
I was being facetious. But yes I think mccarthy will play but Cade will start.
January 21st, 2021 at 8:46 PM ^
Either that or Milton really was Tom Brady until he hurt his throwing hand in game 1... ???
January 21st, 2021 at 9:18 PM ^
Unless his throwing hand injury was keeping from reading defenses, I'm not holding out hope on Milton.
Glad to be proven wrong, but not expecting it.
January 22nd, 2021 at 7:58 AM ^
Milton is the worst qb to start from Michigan since before Rick Leach, who was the first qb of my personal fandom.
January 22nd, 2021 at 10:31 AM ^
Steve Threatt, Nick Sheridan, and John O’Korn need you to reconsider your thoughts.
January 21st, 2021 at 6:58 PM ^
This saddens me. I was really really really hoping to see him prosper as the next great Michigan QB but then we found out he was done prior to the season. He showed a few flashes, especially with his feet. Oh well....some thing are just not meant to be (which has been an issue with a lot of players over the last decade +).
January 21st, 2021 at 7:17 PM ^
I thought he was gone months ago.
January 21st, 2021 at 7:31 PM ^
Picking Milton to start was pure stupidity.
January 21st, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
Was it though? He actually played pretty well the first couple games before his injury
January 22nd, 2021 at 2:44 AM ^
Picking Milton to start before having a true QB competition was pure stupidity. Captain meritocracy picked a starter before the team was even having contact practices.
Also troubling that Cade never had any off-season hype about being close to starter Milton despite his on field play proving otherwise last season.
January 22nd, 2021 at 8:04 AM ^
Hoping this was 100% on the previous QB coach. It's all I have.
January 22nd, 2021 at 6:21 PM ^
This is actually a really good point. Was it Gattis, Harbaugh, or the former QB coach who went all in on Milton from the start? Maybe an equal group decision?
Someone screwed the pooch and we'll never know who.
Ultimately it falls on the HC though.
