Duncan Robinson possible replacement to Olympic roster
Maybe, but they do need a pure shooter.
Oh, that would be sweet.
NBC would be able to do a great story about the kid who went to a D-3 school....and when he's on, he sure can shoot the three.
Wait, wait, wait.....Duncan went to a D-3 school????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
I don't think I knew that. I wonder why commentators never talk about it?
Also, this comment is not shade at you, bluebyyou....it's shade at everybody who will think they are reporting something new and interesting when they mention Duncan's roots at his jersey retirement ceremony.
from reuters: "duncan robinson received accolades from many former teammates and coaches, including a still-spry 89-year old john beilein, who never served as an assistant coach at any level."
Replying to my own comment,,,it was ripe with sarcasm. We've heard the story so many times.
That'd be awesome! Have any other M players been on Olympic teams? I don't follow olympic basketball very closely...
This may show my age, but I recall Phil Hubbard being on the '76 team.
You beat me to the punch. Hubbard won a gold medal in 1976.
….and I guess I’m similarly showing my age.
Also John Clawson - 1968
Moe (and maybe Duncan) is the first Michigan player to reach the Olympics since Hubbard.
Michigan's 1976 team is underrated.
Wagner :-)
Moe and Duncan in the same 12 team Olympics would be great. They would not meet unless they both got past the preliminary stage.
Thanks. Must have broken the link when I copied and pasted.
He’d be a perfect fit. Makes a huge impact on offense without needing the ball
DON'T TELL Jalen Rose!!
Jalen wasn't wrong that Kevin Love does not belong on this team. Kevin Love has been complete ass in the two games he's played and a DNP in another. He's played about 100 games in the last 3 seasons, averaging 12 pts 7 rebs this past season. Julius Randle with his 24 pts 10 rebs 6 asts last year should've been the one on the team.
He was wrong by calling him a token…
Love just announced that he’s out. Duncan could happen.
Welllll was he?!
The way he shoots, I thought he was Canadian. LET'S GO!
I actually had to look it up. Also could have sworn he was Canadian
Love Duncan, but they actually need a big more than a shooter. Bam is their only real Center and he’s only 6’ 9”. Think they should go get Jarrett Allen or Christian Wood. With Durant, Tatum, & Lillard(Booker & Middleton too if they come after the finals) I think they have outside shooting covered.
Javale McGee is supposed to be replacing Kevin Love. No official word on who is replacing Beal yet.
any chance we can get javale's mom instead? she's way better.
I think Duncan would be a fine replacement, but it pains me how bad Team USA management is at building a team and not just picking random dudes. Team USA's biggest needs right now are a true PG and another true center (Bam isn't even really a true center). If fans are easily noticing what this team needs to be successful, then I'd hope management would be able to
You also have to take into account the players that were asked and said no. Many players are coming off injuries or have contract decisions to make this summer.
This would be a crazy opportunity for him but he’s also in the position to command the largest contract he will ever get in his NBA career. That’s a really tough decision if he indeed is being seriously considered.
Just being considered for the USA national team says great things about the respect Duncan has earned within basketball circles. Pop's opinion is one of the most well regarded in the league.
So cool.
D3 to Olympics
This would be great! A team can never have too many elite shooters.
He’d fit great because he shoots at such a high clip with his super fast release
Kudos to Beilein for finding him, but I think his M career was underwhelming and he'd have fared better under Juwan. But that's the paradox...Juwan would have never recruited him.
Maybe someone with more basketball knowledge can comment on this, he seems like a great fit for the USA team. I have the impression, possibly incorrect, that the international game is less physical than NBA and floor spacing is even more important than the NBA. If so could his game translate even better in international competition than it has in the NBA?
Keldon Johnson and Javale McGee are the players replacing Love and Beal.
Make it happen Pops!
would be a great add with international rules
I’d love this
