GREAT NEWS!  Obviously!  He showed in the championship game that he hasn’t lost it.  Let’s see him have a big senior year!

THE DON!

Donovan Edwards has made some of the most electrifying plays in the past 3 years.  I feel horrible that he had a down year this year.  Really looking forward to seeing him as the primary option.

Lightning and Thunder!

Great news.  He's always showed up in the big games.  If you look at just games where he got at least 5 touches that were CFP, BIG championship, OSU, and PSU his career stats look like:

  • Games: 10
  • Rushing: 925 yds, 7.5 avg
  • Receiving: 135 yds, 7.9 avg
  • TDs: 9

And that's on an average of 14 touches/game.  If he can rekindle some of his big game magic and put it into a season, I think he can be a 1400yd, 15 TD guy.

great news.

excited to see what Donovan can do as the feature back for a full season. Hopefully, he can take the success he had in the championship game and use it for a spring board!

Big time news. Now Michigan needs to utilize him along with other running backs. Hart said they were to try and run more 2 RB sets because of the skillet of Donovan and they did start to do that some more this year but not a lot. After Mullings catching that pass out of the backfield against Bama, I say utilize the two of them as much as possible. Get Don all over the field and use him as much as possible. If he can get 15 carries a game and be targeted 5 or so times a game that will utilize him the best. Get Mullings 10 or so carries a game and throw him a pass every so often.

If Michigan throws the ball 20 times a game you can easily go 5 to Don, 5 to Loveland, 5 to Morris, and 5 to Morgan. Throw in a guy like English or Moore depending on the game and you easily have enough weapons next year.

Easy decision, tbh. He didn’t put up 1st round numbers, and RBs don’t really get paid in the pros these days unless they’re CAN’T MISS. Which Edwards was not.

Glad he’s coming back, hope he and the coaches can fix whatever was going on with him this season. If they can’t…a switch to slot WR might be in his best interest. I held my breath every single time he was called on in pass protection, and I’d bet $1 that his terrible pass pro is what kept him from being a bigger part of the Alabama game plan.

Mullings is looking more and more like Hassan Haskins 2.0. Edwards needs to be a big play machine next year to get his pro career back on track.

Hopefully he's fully back mentally and big game Don is here to stay. If we get that Donovan back and the one from the end of the 2022 season, we're in good hands.

Hopefully the OL can be good, but they'll probably have 4 brand new starters which is tough.

Wow, what a terrific surprise! A backfield with Edwards, Mullings, and Hall is going to be a load for any defense to bring down for 4 quarters. I’m envisioning a thunder (Mullings) and lightning (Edwards) backfield like the Haskins/Corum backfield of 2021.

Ultimate team player. Didn’t have the season he hoped but he was always celebrating others. Good guy for young kids to look up to. Especially to show the championship game and why to always work hard

Mullings + Edwards is perfect thunder and lightning.

Still have an elite O-line.

Still have an elite D-line.

Still have a great secondary. Expect McBurrows to take the Sainristil role.

Question mark obviously QB.

Great news!  We will definitely need his versatility and big-play potential going into next season, especially against OSU and their stacked defense; Edwards hasn't seen very much of their safety Lathan Ransom in action, so that'll be an interesting challenge this November..

Great news!

Work a little bit on his pass blocking otherwise he can be a true 3 down back - he can be primary runner and a 3rd down pass catcher. He has the speed to be a breakaway. Next year's offense just got brighter.

Without starting a new thread, who are we still waiting on?

I've seen chatter than Moore and Paige are both coming back but was that ever made official? I didn't see it. Otherwise we're still waiting on Trente Jones, right? Or did I miss that too? Anyone else?

We love you, Donovan. So glad to have you another year. I hope it’s the kind of season you’ve always wanted - all your goals accomplished and you ride out of here feeling victorious.

DE needs to have a role more like Gibbs has with the Lions. He has the skills to do it, and Michigan will have someone for the Montgomery bruiser role, Michigan just needs a QB who can get Edwards the ball out on the edges.

Hawt Take....Don coming is as important from the mental/culture side as it is for the play on the field side. It is abnormal to have three elite leaders JJ, Blake, MS. Sure, there were other leaders, but these are the three that would have literally willed UM to win and they bring up the entire team.

Don has some of that juice in him and I think he knows he needs to ensure that carries forward in the 2024 team. We also need some others to step up in that regard.

I often wonder if Donovan shouldn't switch to WR.  He is super fast and already catches the ball well out of the backfield (although they don't do this near enough with him).  If there is a hole .... "poof" he is gone but he does a lot of dancing before he decides to go and often gets stopped at the line more times than not.  I feel he is a good RB but I wonder if he wouldn't be a great WR or be used in both roles making him even more valuable.

Mullings and him will be a very good combo.
